Chapter 3:

“Jethro, I really don’t need this right now. I mean, I don’t even know why I’m explaining this to you, I’m your boss!”

“That doesn’t give you the right to screw one of your employees.”

“Didn’t stop you.” She retorted.

“Thatwas different Jen and you know it.”

“How?”

“We weren’t screwing each other in the office.”

“Oh and that makes it wrong?”

“Yes. What if it hadn’t been me who walked in?”

“Well, it was you, Jethro. And I can pretty much guarantee I’d be less pissed off and more embarrassed if it hadn’t been you.”

“Oh that’s real nice, Jen.”

“It’s the truth, Jethro.”

“Really?”

“Yes. Now please leave.”

“Jen, you really need to get your priorities straightened out.” he said, leaving her office.

Jenny sighed. She knew Gibbs was right, he usually was. She found that extremely irritating sometimes. Especially now. She wished he’d never seen what happened, but he had, which probably meant she couldn’t continue her relationship with Tony in the same way. Especially since Gibbs was onto them.

Later on that day, once things had calm down a little, Cynthia gave Tony that call, “She’s free now, Tony and Gibbs has gone out. You’re welcome to come up now if you like.”

“Thanks Cynthia.” Tony hung up the phone and made his way up the stairs to Jenny’s. As he climbed the stairs he noticed Ziva and McGee watching him, they were intrigued as to what he was doing up there and why Gibbs was so mad at him.

“Jenny?”

“Tony,” She said, getting up and walking to him, “how is everything? Has Jethro taken away your chair yet?”

“I think he’s getting close to that. He’s pretty pissed off.”

“I’m sorry this had to happen, Tony. Jethro’s got this idea that no one else can have me. I guess it’s a throwback from me leaving him. I don’t think he ever really moved on.”

“Why’d you leave him?”

“He didn’t understand that we had a job to do. I was being practical, he was being emotional, hard to believe isn’t it? Jethro being emotional over practical? I can assure you he was a different person then, I think I made him go greyer.”

“That was in Paris?”

“Yes, that was Paris. Some days I wish it never happened, if I hadn’t done what I did maybe we’d be living together in a nice house with a family. But I made a choice, emotionally he didn’t agree with it.”

“So, you regret what you did?”

“How do you mean? Leaving Jethro?”

“Yeah.”

“Sometimes I do. He meant a lot to me, but that is in the past. And besides, if I hadn’t left him I doubt we would have met.”

“True.”

“Tony, are you uncomfortable with the fact that Jethro is having problems with our relationship?”

“It bothers me that he interferes with it, that’s true, but, I know that it’s none of his business and I know he’ll make my life hell, but isn’t it worth it in the end?”

“Are you sure you want to go through Gibbs making your life hell? Because trust me, it’s not pretty.”

“I think I can handle it. And besides, I have you, you’ve been through that.”

“I have, you‘re right.”

“Let’s just hope we live long enough to see it through.” Tony said, making his way back to his desk.
