A/N: In Asian cultures, most notably Japanese, the fourteenth of March is set aside for lovers. An eastern equivalent of the western Valentine’s Day. However, it’s the men who do the giving, while dressed in the color of purity…white.

Touch of Color

Lean biceps that would shame an Olympian crossed in contemplation. Sesshomaru brooded in his sleeping chamber half naked.

His favorite white under-garment was missing.

All the others – the silky magenta, breathable beige, “passables” – were set out before him, but the immaculate white one was absent from the lineup. Not only the most comfortable, it still maintained its crisp appearance no matter the situation. That, and Sesshomaru always wore it when he wiped the floor with Inuyasha. As winter ebbed into spring, the Western Lord – deny it as he might – wanted to start the season off on a cheery note.

Except it’s nowhere to be found!

And just when he was going to give his brother a good pummeling, too! Ever since Naraku had been exterminated, the years had grown rather dull…

Sesshomaru turned his room inside out once more until, with a huff and a growl, he snatched up the magenta cloth.

Might as well go out in style if nothing else.

Before he exited, his dog nose urged a final investigation. Sniffing over the edges of the clothes’ chest, Sesshomaru caught something he’d missed in his panic – a human’s scent.

“So, uh, yeah, anyway,” Kohaku stammered out what felt like the speech of his life, even if it was for only an audience of one. “I guess, I mean, I know I wanted you to have these. Here.”

Rin gasped as a bouquet of the most vibrant lilies, carnations, and daffodils were presented with a flourish. She embraced them and then the bearer, never really noticing how comically oversized the white robe was on his adolescent frame.

So that’s where it went.

Tapping a talon to his chin, Sesshomaru nodded. Well, perhaps in a few more years from now, he’d get to see Rin donning white and Kohaku sporting black.
