Truth or Dare – Vegas Style.

“What do you mean we’re stuck?”

“All the doors have automatically locked due to the power cut – we’re stuck!”

“So what are we suppose to do now?”

“... How am I supposed to know?”

“Well you should!”

“How in the world did you come to that conclusion!”

Nick rolled his eyes as Greg and Warrick argued, this was going to be fun, you know, hours of this,

“Guys, we should make the most of this.”

“How can we possible make the most of this situation?” Greg asked in astonishment, “Seriously, we should all be at home, getting sleep, instead...”

“Instead we’re stuck here together,” Warrick finished with a sigh, “No offence guys – but I have a date with Tina!”

Had you had a date with Tina,” Greg reminded him, “You still call them dates even when you’re married?”

Warrick blinked at Greg’s question, “What else are you supposed to call them!”

“Come on – stop arguing, we should take this time to... get to know each other better!”

Warrick and Greg stared at Nick as if he was insane, “Don’t we know each other well enough?”

Nick rolled his eyes again, “... we could play a game?”

“What sort of a game?” Greg asked with his eyebrows raised.

“Well...”

x-x-x

“No way am I answering that... seriously!”

“You have to Nicky,” Warrick grinned, taking enjoyment out of his friend’s discomfort, “You are the one that suggested this.”

“Fine,” Nick pouted and glared at Warrick, “yes, I may have certain... feelings for Wendy – don’t tell her!”

“Hah! I knew it,” Warrick yelled in triumphant as Greg burst into laughter, “It’s not that funny Greg...”

“I know... its juts... well... oh Cath and Sara are so mussing out... I wonder where they are.”

“Where who are?” Grissom asked, entering the break room, he noticed the strange looks on their faces, “What are you guys up to now?”

“Cath and Sara,” Greg answered the first question, then he grinned before adding, “And we’re playing truth or dare.”

Grissom blinked, “Isn’t that a bit... childish?”

“It was Nick’s idea – and its his turn too – come on Nicky.”

Nick thought for a moment, “Grego, truth or dare?”

“Dare!” Greg asked immediately, grinning like a four year old.

Nick’s face suddenly broke into a wicked grin, “Okay, Greg, I dare you to kiss either Cath or Sara – whoever walks through that door first...”

“What?” Greg spluttered, “That’s just... mean!”

“Not to mention unprofessional,” Grissom reminded Nick, glaring at him as the Texan giggled, “honestly – what possessed you to start this in the first place?”

Nick shrugged, “It stopped Greg and Warrick form arguing – so, what do you say Greg?”

Greg nodded hesitantly – only seconds after this, Cath and Sara walked through the door, Greg nearly fell off his chair as they did so.

“Hey Guys!” Sara said cheerfully – too cheerful for someone who was stuck at work in the middle of a power cut, “What’s swinging?”

“We’re playing truth or dare,” Warrick told her with a sly smile – he glanced at Greg, “Come on – join in, it definitely passes the time.”

“Isn’t it a bit childish?” Catherine asked, repeating Grissom’s earlier question as she put down the torch she was holding to help herself to some coffee.

Luckily for Cath, the coffee had just finished brewing before the power cut and was therefore, still relatively warm, “don’t you have anything better to do?”

“No,” Nick answered with a chuckle, absolutely loving the look on Greg’s face as he got out of his chair and slowly shuffled in the direction of Catherine.

“So?”

“So?” She raised her eyebrows, “What?”

“Good Coffee?”

“It should be – it is Blue Hawaiian after all,” Catherine frowned as she noticed Greg’s fidgety nature, “Greg – are you alright?”

“I...um...just...wanted...to...” Greg’s voice was timid and quiet, “you walked through the door first and I... um... yeah...”

Catherine blinked, completely bemused at Greg’s mumbling, “Um – what is going on?”

“Greg – you don’t have to do it if it makes you that uncomfortable,” Nick told him with a slight chuckle.

“No...No... I want to...That is...I’m glad that you came first and I...” Greg was beginning to blush immensely, “I...”

With a shrug of his shoulders Greg placed a hand on Cath’s chin and kissed her softly on the lips, he pulled away quickly, making his way back over to the table, his blush reddening.

Catherine stood stunned on the side of the room, her coffee sitting untouched on the counter beside her, “What...What did you just...Greg?”

Nick couldn’t hold it in any longer – her burst into laughter, causing Greg’s blush to intensify.

Catherine blinked, then, something clicked inside her head, “you dared him to do that – but that’s so mean!” She glanced over at Greg, whose blush was getting brighter by the second; Catherine smiled as she recalled some of Greg’s words, “Oh Greg, you are so cute!”

Greg mumbled some incoherent sentences under his breath before clearing his throat, ‘Well... um, on with the game? My turn, err, Griss – truth or dare?”

“I am not playing such a pointless and childish game,” Grissom huffed, folding him arm across his chest as he did so.

“It’s not pointless – we did find out that Nick had a thing for Wendy.”

“Warrick!” Nick hit Warrick across the arm, “That... that has no relevance... and... grr!”

Sara gave a slight chuckle at the look on Nick’s face, “Aww Nicky – that’s so adorable,” she elbowed Grissom who she was sitting beside, “Come on Griss – what harm can come from it?”

Grissom sighed in defeat, “Fine, truth I guess...”

Greg’s face immediately brightened, “Is it true – that you and Sara have been going out for the past year?”

Grissom blinked, “Um – how his you know that?”

Greg grinned, “I’ll take that as a yes?”

Grissom nodded slowly, and everyone’s reactions were immediate...

Sara fell off her chair in shock and proclaimed in a small voice, “you didn’t have to tell him.”

Catherine spat out her coffee, crying out in a high pitched voice, “What?”

While Warrick and Nick burst out laughing.

Grissom looked around at his team, “Can we please not make such a big deal out of this?”

“What, so the whole “no dating between co-workers” thing was all a lie?” Catherin rolled her eyes as Grissom helped a still shocked Sara to her feet, ‘Nice one Greg – they never saw it coming.”

Greg grinned, a blush still slightly covering his face, “it’s my job to notice things,” turning to Nick and Warrick he added, “now pay up!”

Grissom and Sara watched in shock as Nick and Warrick got out their wallets and handed over some money to Greg, “that was so worth it!”

“You guys had bets going against us?” Sara yelled her voice high and squeaky, “I can’t believe you would do that!”

“Totally unprofessional,” Grissom muttered as the youngest member of his team sat grinning at him, “No Greg I am not playing truth or dare – I’m going to my office to get some sleep – you guys should get some to.”

And with that, Grissom got to his feet and left the bedroom, muttering under his breath as he did so.

“Aren’t you going to go with him Sara?” Nick asked teasingly.

Sara glared at him, getting to her feet she hit him on the way to the door, “As a matter of fact I am – stop laughing!”

The four remaining CSI’s watched Sara leave in a huff, “Maybe we should get some rest,” Catherine suggested. “We could all crash in here – there are some blankets and mattresses in the locker-room.”

Why the lab had mattresses in the locker-room they didn’t know – still, they all set off to get the, returning moments later with three mattresses and four blankets.

“I bags the couch!” Greg yelled, dropping the mattress he was carrying and rushing over to the couch that sat in the break room, “just our luck that there was only three huh?”

Nick rolled his eyes at Greg before throwing a blanket at him, “Just get some sleep.”

Moments after this the torch that Catherine had brought in earlier has been flicked off and the break room was shrouded in darkness.

Greg was still awake ten minutes later when he felt someone brush up against his hand that was hanging off the side of the couch. Squinting he was surprised t see how was kneeling down beside him in the darkness, “Cath?”

Catherine smiled at him, getting to her feet and pulling him up by the hand as she did so.

“Cath what are you...?” Greg blinked as Cath put a finger to his lips, silencing his confused rambling as she wrapped her arms round his waist.

“I’m glad I was the first one to walk through the door...”

Cath’s hushed voice echoed around the break room as she pulled Greg closer and kissed him softly on the lips.

Greg surrendered to the feelings that suddenly burst inside him – kissing Catherine deeply as he pulled her back down to the couch.

They lay there in each others arms, enjoying the warmth of each others bodies, the steady rhythm of each others heart beats causing them to drift off to sleep...

Cath’s head was rested on Greg’s chest, her eyes closed as she slowly succumbed to sleep; the last thing that she heard before she drifted off was Nick’s quiet whisper of,

“Warrick, you owe my fifty bucks.”
