The glass fell from my hands. It shattered on impact. The others glanced up to see what was wrong. It wasn't like me to drop something.

There was noise, in the background, but that little shard of glass… it drew me in.

Meeting her. Knowing her.

Chasing her. Saving her.
Tick.
Blamed for her. Dying for her.
Tick.
Reaching for her. Praying for her.
Tick.
Finding her. Seeing her.
Tick.
Coming back for her. Trying hard for her.
Tick.
There. Together again.
Tick.
Waiting for her. Crying for her.
Tick.
Kissing her. Loving her.
Tick.
Marrying her. Hugging her.

It all fell into place.

Everything came back in a rush. Jaenelle moved forward, looking concerned. Daemon vanished the shards of glass to a wastebasket, turning back to me. I glanced at them, reassured them I was okay, just tired, and hurried out of the room. But not before giving Daemon one last, long, hard look.
I saw it all, everything, in that shard of glass.
