Oh, look, a RinoxAbby fic. And... yeah.

PS, the title comes from a song by Eiffel 65. Y'know, "Yo listen up, here's the story about a little guy that lives in a blue world. And all day and all night everything he sees is just blue, like him, inside and outside."

PPS, in case you haven't noticed, I'm not Osamu Tezuka. Or his kid. So obviously, Astro Boy could not be mine. Nor could Rino, Abby, or the concept for the show. Er... but I am Loco the Exclaimer, making the fanfic mine!

Rino sat there, looking out the window. The rain thumping on the glass outside was the only sound.

His usual happy demeanor was gone; he was simply gazing out the window, his eyes filled with sadness. In one hand he was holding a photo of himself with a girl, and his chin was propped up on the other. He was still in his pajamas.

He let out a sigh, the rush of air fogging the window.

"Rino?"

He looked up, behind him, at the top bunk of the bunk bed he and Astro shared. The sleepy robot climbed down, and walked over to his human roommate.

"What are you doing still awake?" Astro asked. "It's past midnight!"

Rino paused, then turned to look back out the window. "Astro?"

"Yeah?" The robot sat down beside him, but he didn't turn to look.

"Have you ever wanted something so bad it hurt, but... you couldn't have it?" Another pause. Astro shook his head, but Rino was still watching the rain fall. "Can you keep a secret?"

He turned his head slightly, enough to see Astro nod out of the corner of his eye, then turned back to the window.

"I think..." He shut his eyes, listening to the rain tapping against the window.

Astro waited for him to continue without prompting, setting a hand on the human's shoulder in silent comfort.

"I think I'm in love."

Astro blinked, startled. "With who?"

Rino bit his lip, trying to force himself to speak, but at the same time, willing himself to stay silent. "...I..." He looked down at the photo in his hand. Astro looked over at it.

"Abby?" The robot asked. Rino blushed.

"Yeah."

They sat in silence for a few moments. The rain grew steadily louder as more of it began to fall.

"Astro, what do I do?" Rino asked suddenly. "She's... she's a princess, she and I could never be together!"

Astro took a second or two to respond, carefully considering his answer. "I'm afraid only you can answer that one, Rino," He said finally. "You just have to follow your heart."

The human glanced at Astro. After a moment, he looked back out at the rain.

"I thought you might say that." He said quietly. "Sounds like a quote from a Disney movie."

Astro grinned. "It doesn't make it any less true."

More silence.

"But..." Rino said with a sigh. "My heart wants me to tell her how I feel."

"Then maybe you should."

"But what if she doesn't feel that way? What if I end up ruining our friendship? What if she says we can't be together? What if--" The worried human was cut off as Astro put his hand over his mouth.

"You worry too much." The robot said with a reassuring smile, pulling his hand away. "It all works out for the best."

Rino looked at Astro for a moment, then put his arms around his robotic brother's shoulders and hugged him close.

"Thanks, Astro."

Astro smiled and hugged him back. The embrace lasted for a few moments before Rino pulled away and leaned back.

"So what do I do?" He asked.

"Go to bed." Astro said with a grin. Rino returned the grin, his upbeat attitude returning. "Try writing her a letter tomorrow."

"'Kay." The human said. He waited a moment as the robot climbed into bed, then got into his own, only pausing to reach into a drawer on the bedside table. He slid the picture into place beneath a well-read book, then pulled out a piece of paper and a pencil.

"Good night, Rino," Astro's voice came from above. "Try to go to sleep, okay?"

"Okay." Right after I write this letter.

He paused, unsure as to what to say. Then Astro's words echoed in his head.

You just have to follow your heart.

Smiling, he shook his head slightly, pressed the pencil to the paper, and began to write.

Aw, that was cute. Review if you like RinoxAbby. More on the way.

PS, I consider Rino to be Astro's sibling because they are under the care of the same legal gaurdian. Thought I'd mention that.
