Chapter 1: A Tragic Letter
It was a normal day of work. Just another day of working for the inseparable pair of mechanics. Stan had just finished tuning up the Whizzing Arrow III along with Koji and started to sit down with his soda. Koji came up behind him and sat down beside him. It had been a long day for both of them and they both deserved a break.
“Fixing up the Arrow III brought a lot of memories back didn’t it Koji?” Stan said as he wiped his forehead. Koji nodded his headed breathlessly from so much work.
“It doesn’t seem so long ago that we came back did it? I wonder how Eva and Don are handling today.” Koji said with a smile. Stan smirked.
“You say that about every day Koji. But I got to agree with you on that every time you bring it up. I haven’t heard any thing from them since the four years we split up.” Koji nodded and sighed. Stan could tell he missed the good old times back during the race. It was true in fact for Stan himself also. Those days were unforgettable and yet he was never aloud to speak of it to any one else except for each other.
Suddenly Miguel ran into the room with a letter in his hand. He stopped in front of Stan and Koji panting for breath and words.“Stan….Koji….its about …you might want to read it.” Stan and Koji looked at each other curiously. By the look on Miguel’s face Stan could tell it was urgent. Stan grabbed the envelope from Miguel’s hands and got up to read aloud. Stan looked at the mailing address to see who it was from. Stan jumped to see the name Eva Wei on the envelope. “Koji…it’s from Eva herself.” Stan said looking Koji. “I wonder what’s wrong.” Koji showed of face of unpleasantness. Stan ripped open the letter in anticipation to see what was so urgent.
Dear Stan and Koji,
It has been four years now since our separation. Usually I would bring joyfulness news if it hadn’t been for the tragedy that has been brought upon Don to bring me to say these unbearable words. Don was murdered about two days ago from what the CSI has told me. My heart feels so empty right now. Please do this for an old friend. I would like to invite you to Don’s funeral. Please come.I now it would mean so much to Don’s restless spirit and dearly to me. I know he always thought of ya’ll everyday as you have thought of us.
Sincerely with love,
Eva
Stan just stood there and shock. He knew one day he would die but who would murder old Don? It was just just plopped down on the seat he was originally sitting in with a daze.“I can’t believe it…”Koji said remorsefully. By the tone of his voice you could tell he was saddened ever so. “I can’t imagine what Eva’s feeling though. And just when things went great between the both of them too.”
Stan just stood there still shock of the tragic event.“Yeah…just thinking about how much this is affecting her is pretty sad.” Stan and Koji stayed silent thinking poor Eva. Miguel looked at them sadly. Miguel came up to them with a note in his hand.
“’s not much but I found out where Ms. Wei’s resident is located.I know that it would be best if ya’ll go and supported ’ll would never have time to do this in your spare time anyway. Miguel handed Stan the card with Eva’s location on it. Stan took it and looked at it. He jumped.
“Koji…she’s gone nuts!”Stan said surprisingly. Koji looked at him confused.
“Huh…why do you say that?Where is the funeral being held?”Koji said hoping to find out why Stan was so surprised about what was on the got up and smiled.
“Because it’s in Japan that’s on. You have to pack your suitcase if ya gonna go.” Koji smiled at Stan’s witty remark. As they went to go pack Miguel stood there snickering.'I’m gonna miss those two. There gonna really have a hard time do to Don’s request.’
