A/N: This is my first That 70's Show fic. I was a little annoyed by the fact that there were only gang's gang stories that turned out to be J/H. Not that I have anything against J/H, just not like that So read and enjoy. If you want to review, I really don't mind.
P.S The Title of this fic and the titles of the chapters are my favorite summer hits, and not neccesarily related to the content.
Chapter 1: For Those About To Rock
It was a hot summer day in the beginning of June. The gang’s gang had decided to hang out in the park; the basement was most likely to kill them.
Roberta ‘Bert’ Hyde, Luke Forman and Mickey were playing catch, while Stella Forman, Mark Kelso and Jane were watching them lazily.
“Geez, Bert, how can you still be alive?” Stella called to her friend. The short frizzy haired girl looked like she was about to die, with her face red and sweaty and her hair crazier than normal.
“It’s because she’s the devil’s child,” Jane grinned, “She loves warmth.”
“I refuse to wear shorts!” Bert choked back and then let herself fall on the grass, next to her friends. “I’m gonna take a break,”
Luke and Mickey shrugged and continued their game.
“So what’re we gonna do tonight?” Mark asked, while pulling out bits of grass from the field.
“My parents are organizing a barbeque remember,” Stella reminded him with a push, “Anyways, I thought afterwards we could hang out in the basement.”
“Oh, the barbeque. Isn’t that horrible kid Allan Harkness supposed to come?” Bert asked. Allan had just moved to Point Place with his parents, and already the rest of the gang wasn’t crazy about him.
“Yeah… Mom is really good friends with his mom, so she kind of had to invite him as well.” Stella muttered. Jane grinned and said, “I’ve heard his mom’s a bitch as well. I can’t believe she used to date your dad.”
Bert shook her head and said, “Like my dad is such a nice guy.”
“I guess that’s true. Wow, it’s like a match made in heaven,” Mark smirked. Bert punched him. “Ouch!” the boy muttered. She smirked and put on her sunglasses.
After a while Mickey and Luke sat down with them.
“I hope that tonight they’re finally deciding if they’re letting us go to Egg Harbor.” Luke said excited.
“It sounds so exotic don’t ya think?” Stella smirked.
“Oh, come on! A whole summer away from our parents and our sibs, that’s gonna be great!” Mickey said.
“If you’re going, I’m going too,” Jane pointed out to her brother.
“Well, I didn’t mean you,” Mickey tried to rectify himself. Jane looked at him expectantly. “I meant, uh… well…”
“He probably meant Mark, Stella and Luke,” Bert saved him. He grinned at her appreciatively. “Who’s hungry for some fried food?”
Everyone stuck up their hand, so a couple of minutes later they were all heaped up in Bert’s van.
“Ugh, something smells disgusting,” Jane complained.
“Luke’s fault!” Bert said, while she opened up a window. The boy next to her looked incensed. “Buh! What did I do?”
“Remember, my dearest that last month we went to get milkshakes at the McDonalds and you spilled them all over the backseat? I couldn’t clean it out properly,” she smirked, “And now you’re all stuck with the horrible smell of off milk.”
“I am so not driving in this van to Egg Harbor.” Stella muttered, staring out of the window.
Bert just smirked and concentrated on the road, while the rest of the kids were complaining loudly.
“Okay, I’ve got a solution!” Mark yelled, “Let’s clean it out with firecrackers!”
Jane rolled her eyes and said, “Anything for you to use firecrackers.”
The boy just grinned and said, “Of course.”
Mickey shook his head and said, “No man, it needs to be cleaned properly and stuff. And I propose that Luke does that.”
“What!” he screeched, “Why me?”
“Because you molested this car in the first place!” Stella said and smacked him on the head.
“Okay, ouch!” the boy muttered, as he rubbed his head.
Half an hour later they arrived at the Forman’s residence. “Okay,” Stella said, “Put everything in the backpacks otherwise Mom is gonna kill you.”
“Oh come on, Donna isn’t that vindictive is she?” Bert said sarcastically, remembering the time where she thought Luke had lied to her and she refused to talk to him for a day.
Luke sighed and said, “Just act cool.”
They all got out of the van and walked casually into the direction of the basement.
“Hold it!” a male voice said behind them. It was Eric Forman. He had aged incredibly, but he still was skinny and he had his head of hair. “What’s in the bags?”
“Nothing of importance,” Luke said with a poker face. Eric looked at his son’s face, trying to find out if the boy was lying.
“Fine, you can go,” The man finally decided and then grabbed Bert by the arm. “Just please give me a burger.”
The girl smirked with an eye brow raised and said, “Sure thing, Mr. Forman.” She got out a burger from her bag and handed it to Eric. Then she walked off like nothing happened.
The others had already settled down and spread out the junk food on the coffee table. The TV was on, showing some cartoon and everyone was watching while eating.
Bob sat down on between couch and the table, with the legs of Luke and Jane next to her. Stella sat on the right side, Mark and Mickey on the left.
“I can’t believe we’re watching Fairly Odd Parents,” Mickey muttered.
“Oh, what do you want to watch, the history channel?” Bert snorted, spitting out a bit of fry while doing so.
“No,” he whined, “It’s just, we’re always watching cartoons!”
“We’re not,” Stella said, “but around this hour there’s nothing decent to watch besides cartoons. So deal with it, homeskillet. Hey, that rhymed!”
The others looked at her with strange looks on their faces and then continued eating.
Suddenly, they heard someone come down the stairs. Mark was ready to wipe everything off the table, but Luke stopped him. “Dude, that’s Layla.”
And indeed, it was the younger sister of Stella and Luke by 3 years. “Are you eating?”
The gang nodded guiltily. The girl moved closer with an accusing look on her face, “I’m gonna tell mom.”
“Oh my god, you’re gonna tell her we’re eating,” Bert fake-panicked, “What in the devil’s name will we do?”
“I have no idea Roberta, I think I am going to pass out on the floor,” Stella joined Bert’s game of making fun of Layla. The girl just looked like she was about to kill someone and then stomped up stairs. Bert and Stella high-fived and resumed their binge eating festivities.
Later, at the barbeque, the kids actually manage to eat their share of the food. Layla was looking at them with awe and so was Eric. “Man, how can they eat that much?” he asked Hyde.
“Well, I know that Bert has it in her genes,” he smirked, actually sort of proud of his daughter.
“Do you think they’re on something?” Eric whispered.
“No dad, we’re not high,” Luke comforted his father, as he walked by to go to the kitchen.
“Damn, I can’t keep anything a secret here!” the man moped and grabbed a beer out of the cooler. Hyde shrugged and made his way over to Donna and Kitty.
“The food is lovely,” he said.
Donna punched him on the arm and said, “What did you do to Hyde?”
“Now, kids, play nice,” Mrs. Forman laughed, “I’m going to get another drink.”
“So when are you going to tell them?” he asked one of his oldest friends.
Donna shrugged and said, “Probably when I’m gonna serve desert, which is in 10 minutes.”
“No, wait after,” Hyde warned her.
“Why?”
“Well, they’re gonna have to take Allan, of who they are not very fond. And a collective groan will embarrass him.” Hyde explained.
Donna shrugged and said, “I guess you’re right. Wow… fatherhood has given you a conscience as well a female clone.”
“Look at him, with the smug face,” Bert muttered, glaring out of the corner of her eye at Allan, the dark haired boy that had been in conversation with James Kelso.
“I don’t think he looks that smug,” Stella asked, spooning up the rest of the potato salad on her plate, “More like… bored. You know that James is as dumb as a bag of hammers.”
Bert shrugged and adjusted her sunglasses a bit, “He still looks smug.”
“Maybe you should take off those glasses and you might see the difference,” Stella grinned. Bert just gave her friend a push in the back and walked over to Luke and Mark. The gap was soon filled with Jane.
“Hey, when are we having dessert?” the girl asked.
“Geez, you haven’t even finished main course,” Stella grinned. She put her plate down and then sat down on a bench. Jane followed her and sat down as well.
“I’m just asking, because if your mom serves it like, right now, I’m gonna explode. Binge eating before a barbeque is a no-no.” the black-haired girl grinned.
“For you anyway,” Stella beamed, “because the rest seem to have no problem with it.”
They looked over the party, where the rest of the gang were stuffing themselves, except for their ‘Aunt’ Jackie.
“I don’t think that in the 16 years I’m alive, I’ve never seen her eat more than a dry loaf of bread.” Jane said, with awe.
“Well, you know, she needs to watch her weight,” Stella muttered and then said, “I think I saw her eat a chocolate bar, like once.”
“Tasty,”
“Not really, it was one of those low-cal-no-fat-extra-vitamins-mumbo-jumbo-disgusting-pants-bars.” The red head said.
“Why am I not surprised?” Jane sighed. Stella didn’t reply, but just shrugged.
2 hours later most people went home. Eric, Donna and Hyde were sitting in the kitchen drinking coffee. Bert, Stella, Luke and Layla had occupied the living room and were watching something girly.
“Why can’t we watch like, Arnold Schwarznegger?” Layla complained.
“Because we like Sex and the city,” Luke said decisively, “And no, we’re not going to tell you where we hid the remote control.”
“Oh man!” the little girl moaned. She jumped up and stomped up the stairs.
“Haha, we’re so smart,” Bert grinned. She got out the remote control from behind her back and switches channels. They were at the point where Lori tried to persuade Quaid not to hurt her, because after all, they’re married. Suddenly the TV makes a loud gun noise and Arnie saying, “Consider that a divorce.”
“God,” Luke grinned, “You gotta love him. He has such awesome one liners.” He sat up and said with a very heavy Austrian accent, “Women. Can't live with 'em, can't live... with 'em.”
The girls giggled and then Bert said, “Okay, I got one.” She put on the same heavy accent and said, “Could I speak to the drug dealer of the house, please?”
The all burst into a fit of laughter. When Stella was about to do her impression, Eric called out that the kids should come to the kitchen. The three of them gathered at the door and looked expectantly at the adults.
“Alright kids, we have decided that you can go to our beach house in Egg Harbor, coming Saturday.” Donna started. The kids looked excitedly at each other. “But you gotta take Allan with you.”
Stella and Luke let out a collective groan, but Bert just said, “Dad? Do we have to? He’s really obnoxious and it wouldn’t surprise me if he was into something sporty.”
Hyde just sighed and said, “I get that you’re not very excited-“
“Understatement,”
“But!” he continued firmly, “there are no kids in Point Place this time of the year and it’s mean to leave the poor kid all by himself at the mercy of James and princess Layla.”
Stella shrugged and said, “I guess you have a point there.”
Bert and Luke just glared at her and then started whining again, until Donna slammed the table. “Listen up, you monkeys. Allan is going or you’re not going at all!” They all muttered ‘fine’ and left to watch TV again.
