The Winged Ones

A Dragon Booster Fan Fiction

Chapter One

Awakening

“Faster, Wyldfyr, faster!” The bipedal red dragon obliged and forced itself to hit the fastest speed that it could maintain while still avoiding the seemingly endless obstacles. Its rider, Kitt Wonn, was busy fighting a large group of wraith dragons off with her blocking staff while still maintaining enough balance to keep from tumbling off of Wyldfyr. Suddenly, all of the wraith dragons disappeared and slowly, their once thundering footsteps became silent. Kitt looked around. “Wyldfyr, I think we better get back home while we can.” Her dragon nodded and turned to race upwards to their home in Squire's End. However, he stopped as the ground began trembling. “What the-” The ground seemed to roar as it ripped open beneath the horrified dragon and rider. Wyldfyr roared helplessly as he and his partner fell into its dark depths.

Kitt groaned as she awoke. “Wyldfyr, get up.” After a few light kicks to his side, the dragon beneath her stood. His eyes widened as he looked around. “Magna Draconis...” They were in a small temple. Small podiums with bowls on top of them lined the sides of the room they were in. Across the room from them stood a large crystal statue that resembled a dragon. However, something about it was unlike any dragon that she had ever seen before. It seemed to have some kind of wings sprouting from its back.

She urged Wyldfyr towards it. As they neared it, a beam of energy from the statue crawled across the floor and touched Wyldfyr's foot. It disappeared as quickly as it came but it was soon replaced by another beam of energy crawling from Wyldfyr's foot to the statue. It surrounded the statue and made thirteen strange symbols appear on the floor around it. The symbols formed a circle around the statue and began flickering on and off. After a few seconds, only one symbol remained glowing. It glowed bright red.

Kitt looked around, half expecting something else to happen. However, nothing did. She sighed. “It's going to be a long trip back up to Mid City...” Wyldfyr nodded. “We better get moving...” He nodded again and began walking out of the temple. However, before they could reach the door, the strange symbols appeared on the walls of the temple. Slowly, doors began opening, one to each symbol. Kitt drew her blocking staff and waited to see what would emerge from the doors.

Suddenly, a series of loud screeching roars began sounding. Wyldfyr looked around panicked. “What's going on?” He whimpered before taking off out the door. “Wyldfyr, slow down!”

I'm sorry but I cannot.

“Did you just-”

Please stop distracting me. I need to get us out of here before the Winged Ones completely awaken. Kitt started to argue but decided to let Wyldfyr continue running at his top speed. She didn't really want to confront something that made that kind of noise anyway.

End of Chapter One

A/N: Don't worry, we'll find out just what the “Winged Ones” are in the next chapter. For now just review this chapter.

BTW, I'd suggest people that are thinking about flaming to read this first:

Warning: Flame me and my subscribers on YouTube will come in the night and kill you while you sleep and then throw your body to the legions of the undead that are hidden in the shadows.

I've seen them do it. It's quite fun to watch.
