Well, I just saw Sleepy Hollow (the Tim Burton version) the other day and absolutely fell completely in LOVE with it! I just couldn't help but write, so...here you go. Also, this IS based (obviously) on the movie with Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci. Just so ya know!
I DO NOT OWN SLEEPY HOLLOW
EDIT: NEW ENDING!
It had been about two weeks since Ichabod Crane had returned home to New York after the happenings in Sleepy Hollow. It was a quiet evening and a light blanket of snow covered the ground and trees. The icicles that dangled from the branches gave the park the look of a dream.
Ichabod and Katrina walked slowly through the evening, the snow crunching beneath their feet with every step. Their breath was visible in the cold air, coming out white like clouds and then fading quickly into the dim light.
"How do you like New York so far, Katrina?" Ichabod asked, "I'd imagine it's quite the change from Sleepy Hollow."
"Quite the change indeed," Katrina replied, smiling, "Sometimes I fear it will take me months to learn how to find my way around! It's far larger than I ever could have imagined!"
Ichabod laughed lightly. "Yes, I know that feeling. Don't worry, though, Katrina. You'll get used to it eventually, even if it doesn't seem like it now." He stopped and turned toward her. "You are happy, though? I wouldn't want you to be...miserable here." Katrina laughed and took his hand.
"I have never been farther from misery in my life. You can count on that."
"That's all I want..." He smiled. They stood for just a moment looking into each others' eyes. Ichabod turned and resumed walking, clearing his throat. They walked in silence for a few moments until Katrina spoke again.
"Are you still plagued by nightmares, Ichabod?" she asked softly, sounding as if she was unsure whether or not it was an appropriate question.
Ichabod thought for a moment. Then answered slowly, "Well...it's strange actually...My...our encounter with the Horseman...was probably one of the most horrifying experiences of my life, and yet...ever since then...I have not had even the slightest hint of an unpleasant dream..." They stopped walking once more and turned toward each other.
"Do you mean to say that the Horseman somehow rid you of your nightmares?"
"No...not the Horseman himself..." He paused for a moment, as if unsure of how to phrase what he was about to say. Then he said very softly, "But it was because of the Horseman that I met you..." Katrina blushed slightly at this. "If I had not met you at that party that first cold night in Sleepy Hollow...well who knows how long I would have woken in the middle of the night?" She looked him straight in the eye. Then, very slowly, they leaned closer.
Their fingers still intertwined, they felt warm in spite of the frigid New York evening air. Suddenly overcome by the strangest magnetism, Ichabod leaned forward and planted a soft kiss on Katrina's lips. She did not move a muscel as he pulled away after just a moment, smiling ever so slightly and turning at least a hundred shades of red. Upon seeing the look of surprise on her face--which he seemed to interpret as a bad sign--his expression turned to one of anxiety.
"Katrina...forgive me...I..." He looked away from her, seemingly shamed. He let go of her hands.
"Ichabod..." Katrina whispered, touching his cheek softly and making him face her. Standing on her tip-toes, she kissed him right back, this time taking him by surprise. After a brief moment of intense confusion, his eyes fluttered closed, and he gently put a (slightly shaking) hand on her petit waist, pulling her closer to him.
As if by magic, snow began to fall light around them. It was just a few flakes at first, but soon fell more heavily, cloaking the entire night in an intoxicating silver shrowd. But they were unaware of the snow. All that they knew was each other as they sweetly embraced on that cold evening in January of 1800.
Well, there ya go! My first stab at a super-fluffy Sleepy Hollow oneshot! This basically came from the fact that they NEVER ACTUALLY KISS in the movie, and that kept bugging me until I wrote this. Please review! THANK YOU ALL!
I must say that I like this ending better! :D
