Sam smiled at the campfire. She didn’t know why she liked watching the flames dance, but she did. Something about how, even if was freezing cold, there was still heat. Daniel and Teal’c had gone to bed a while ago and Jack was away from camp as he needed the bathroom.

Soon Jack returned and went into his tent. A few minutes later he came back out with something in his hands.

Jack unzipped his sleeping bag and wrapped it around Sam’s shoulders, she looked up at him. Grateful.

“Wake me for my watch,” he said, going into his tent.
