Hey, here is a new story, hope you like it!

Chapter 1

The very first thing I can remember is being at my mom’s funeral. I was four, Rachel and Rebecca were six, and Jacob was two. I remember the wind had swept my black hat away, leaving my brown curls to blow dangerously around in the wind.

It was a small ceremony, only family friends were there. I remember my dad sitting in his wheel chair, looking down at his lap, where he was twisting them with distraught. My mom, Dana, and my dad, Billy, had met in high school and married soon after. Rachel and Rebecca were the first two born, then I came along, and then Jake came soon after.

Tears were cried, faces were drained, and no one smiled that day. I don’t remember my mom much anymore, but I do remember one thing, her laugh. That was all I remember, they sounded like bells. My dad said that was way he calls me Bells; because I remind him so much of her.

Over the years, my dad has become more himself again, but he will never be the same again, I know that. Jacob doesn’t even remember our mom; having been so young when she died.

My mom died when I was four, now it is thirteen years later and things are different now. But one thing that is the same still is that we still live in La Push, Washington. The things that are different now are that Rachel and Rebecca are now going to college back east, dad is now happier than he was when mom died, and he is starting to finally let go of the past.

I go to Forks High School, having been my mother’s wish. She had told Billy that she did not want me to go to the school on the reservation, why, to this day I still do not know. Jacob goes to school in La Push, at least, when he wants to.

The last part that is a major deal in our family is that we descend from werewolves. Well, at least the men do. Jacob is the great-grandson of Ephraim Black, who was the last werewolf in our family, which means, that Jake is now the resident wolf. When I found out about my brother, I did not believe it at first, but it was the only thing that made sense.

Jake being a werewolf was the only thing that explained his anger. I mean, his appetite hadn’t changed due to him being a teenage boy and all.

Now, I am seventeen years old and everything in my world is about to change.

A banging on my door sharply woke me up. Knowing who it was, I pulled the pillow over my face. “Bella, come on! You need to get up; I need a ride to school!” Jake yelled from outside the door.

Groaning again, I pulled the pillow off my face, and stood up. I grabbed my stuff off of my dresser and headed out the door, forgetting that Jacob was standing there. Running into my six-foot-six brother who has a hard chest is not the best thing to wake up to on a Monday morning. I felt a chuckle under my cheek as Jake caught me by my upper shoulders.

“You can never stay up right, can you Bella?” Jake laughed at me. Glaring at him, I ripped out his large tanned hands and walked down the yard long hallway and into the bathroom. Stripping down, I got into the shower and turned the water up high. Thank goodness Jacob had taken a shower last night, or else there would have been no hot water left.

After toweling myself off, I slipped on dark blue jeans and a dark blue long sleeved shirt. Knowing that Jacob would be knocking on my door again soon, I brushed my hair quickly and left it down for the sake of being simple and time. Rushing out the door, I saw my brother watching one of eleven channels we got.

Coming up from behind him, I smacked him upside the head. “I thought you need a ride?” I asked as he murmured an ‘Ow’.

“I do,” He groaned as he turned off the TV and got off the couch.

“Well then let’s go!” I said and grabbed my bag, my keys, and a granola bar on my way out the door. “Bye, Dad!” I called to his room where I assume he was still sleeping.

Jake and I walked over the old red Chevy truck that had been handed down to me after Rachel and Rebecca had left for Maine. “Hey, Bella, you want to let me drive today?” Jake asked hopefully.

“Jacob, no, you don’t even have your permit yet!” I chastised him as I got in the truck and slammed the rusty door behind me. Jacob grumbled as he made his way over to the passenger’s side.

After dropping Jacob off at the La Push High School, I started to drive over towards Forks. About fifteen minutes later, I got to my high school. Stopping my truck, I grabbed my bag, and started towards the school.

Heading towards my locker, the energy in the school was more keyed up than usual. Everyone was talking in hushed, urgent tones. When I go to my locker, I saw that my friend, Mike Newton, was standing there. This boy seriously needed to get his head screwed on right, I only wanted to be friends with him and yet, every weekend he asked me to dinner and a movie.

“Hey, Bella, did you here the news?” He asked as his face lit up.

“No, what is it?” I asked, twirling my combination.

“There’s a new family of kids. They are all adopted, there are five of them. Their dad is the new doctor at the hospital, there’s Alice, Jasper, Emmet, Rosalie, and Edward. They are all extraordinarily beautiful, and the best part is that four of the kids are dating each other!” He said, sounding like a gossipy school girl.

“Huh,” I muttered. “Listen, Mike, I have to go. I’ll see you later, okay?” I asked him.

“Oh, ok Bella,” He said, looking dejected. I walked away from him and towards my first class, American Literature. The class was dragging at times, but the teacher, I had to give her props for dealing with us.

Sitting in my seat, I faced the chalk board and waited for class to begin. The day passed just like this, going to class, taking notes, answering questions. It got boring after a while, but that was life. Everything was the same, until I got to lunch.

I entered the café and headed towards the lunch line. I grabbed a lunch quickly, paid, and then sat down at a table to the wall of the large room. I didn’t like to sit with Mike’s big bunch of friends, even though he insisted they were harmless, Lauren and Jessica were always glaring at me.

“Hi, Bella, how are you doing?” I heard a voice say above me. Looking up, I smiled when I spotted my best friend, Angela Webber.

“I’m doing fine, Angela. How was your weekend?” I asked her.

“It was ok, I had to babysit the twins, but Ben came over and helped,” She blushed deeply. Smiling she and I struck up a conversation about our classes and what our plans for the week were.

And then they entered the café.

All five of them stood in a line as they walked towards the lunch line. ‘The Cullens’ I thought. There were two girls and three boys from what I could tell. One of the girls was a short and pixie like, she had short, black hair that was spiked up and her eyes were a warm topaz. The other girl took my breath away. No where had I ever seen any model more beautiful. She had just past shoulder length blond hair; she was tall, but not as tall as the guy standing next to her.

This guy was tall, but shorter than Jacob. He also had a body full of massive muscles and a head full of dark curly hair. The other man, standing next to the short pixie like girl, was as tall as the muscle teen, but was more lion like, he had pale blond hair, he didn’t have a lot of muscles, but his presence was so strong that he didn’t need them. And then my eyes fell on him.

He beautiful, more so then the others in his family. He was not as tall as the other two guys, but tall enough. He had a hair full of messy bronze hair that made you want to thread your hands through them. His features were sharp, but smooth, his muscles were there, but not as pronounced as the first one. I couldn’t take my eyes off of him.

“Bella, what are you looking at?” Angela asked. “Oh, the Cullens and the Hales, the one with the black hair, she is in Chemistry with me, her name is Alice, and she told us about her family. Apparently her boyfriend, Jasper and his sister Rosalie, the blond ones, are Mrs. Cullen’s niece and nephew. And then her brothers are Emmett, the huge one, and the one with the bronze hair is Edward. Mr. Cullen adopted her, Edward, and Emmett.”

Edward, his name is Edward,’ I thought to myself. ‘That’s a weird name.’

Just as the Cullens and the Hales passed our table, I flung my hair around to look up at them. All five of them stopped instantly. Edward was the one who was closest to me; his back was stiff and his shoulders rigid. As the other four started to move again, he did not move an inch.

The small one whirled around and pulled at his arm, “Edward, let’s go.” She murmured. Following his sisters and brothers, Edward and his family sat at an empty table on the far side of the cafeteria.

Sighing, I went back to talking to Angela. Just as I was about to ask her if she wanted to go to a movie that night, the bell rang. I groaned and started to walk towards AP Biology, this class was the easiest due to me not being weighed down by a lab partner.

I entered the science lab and saw that I was one of the first ones there, having gotten my books before lunch. I sat down at my lab table in the back corner, away from anyone to pester me. I doodled on the front of my notebook, waiting for Mr. Banner to start the class.

A few minutes latter, his droning voice called out, “Okay, class, we have a new student here from Alaska, his name is Edward Cullen, get to know him, just not within class time.” Looking around at the class for an open seat, Mr. Banner pointed to my table. “You can go sit next to Miss. Swan, Edward.”

Edward nodded and walked slowly back to my table. “Okay, so we’re talking about the living system of different organisms…”

I copied everything that the teacher copied down on the board, but finally looked over at Edward. He was stiff, as far away from me as the table would allow. Edward looked up and saw me watching me. And he glared at me. He glared at me! What did I ever do to him?

Sighing, I went back to my notes and Mr. Banner’s droning voice. Right as the bell rang, Edward was out the bell before I could even respond the annoying clamoring noise.

I packed up my bag and headed out to my truck, happy for the end of the day. Thank goodness the day was over. I just wasn’t anticipating tomorrow in biology.
