DISCLAIMER: I own nothing.

Here it is - the sequel to Falling For You! You don't have to read that to understand this story though. This story starts after Light gives up his memories of being Kira again at L's command.

L smiled to himself, watching the last members of the investigation team exit the building. Finally, alone again.

It had been two weeks since Light had given up his Death Note. It had been hard for Ryuzaki at first; every time the teen touched him, he would pull away, knowing those hands had killed. However it had become easier with time to forget his lovers’ past.

Ryuzaki was determined that he and Light should start fresh; a new beginning.

“Ahh, L.” Light whispered, leaning back in his office chair. “It seems we never get enough time with each other.”

L scoffed. Light and the detective were inseparable, even without the handcuffs. Oh, the handcuffs…how I miss those.

Of course Ryuzaki had had to remove the handcuffs the day after Light’s secret confession. He had to clear Light of all suspicion so that the Kira case could proceed.

L nearly groaned. The stupid Kira case. It seemed that Light’s notebook had been passed on to someone else, and so they now had a new target. However, while L desperately hated the case and wasting his precious time on it, he was fuelled by a passion even stronger than before. While he may not be able to make Light pay for his crimes, someone would be held accountable, of that he was sure.

“Hey, Ryuzaki?”

“What is it, Light-chan?”

“Who’s Mello?”

That got the detectives’ attention. “Mello? How do you know that name?”

“You got an email from him.”

L slouched over to Light, whose laptop was open in front of him.

Ryuzaki clicked the email, curious. Mello had never contacted him before – why now?

Dear L,
Near and myself have been discussing the issue, and we think it’s important that you make your decision soon. With the Kira case still going on, we don’t want to take any chances.
Please have a think about it, and contact us when you have made your decision.
Yours, Mello.

Ryuzaki sighed. He had been half-expecting a call from the two boys at some stage soon, but it didn’t make him any more eager to have them stay with him.

Because, L decided, in order to make a proper, well-informed choice, he needed to observe both boys for a period of time.

I’ll deal with it tomorrow, he thought to himself, closing the laptop.

“So, who’s Mello?” Light asked again.

“Why does it concern Light-chan?” Ryuzaki asked, turning to face the teen.

“Well, because…uhh-”

Ryuzaki noticed with interest that a blush was creeping across Light’s cheeks.

“Are you jealous, possibly?” he wondered aloud.

“No!” Light cried, his blush darkening.

Ryuzaki smirked. “Don’t worry about him, koibito…” the detective murmured, leaning closer to the teen. His lips locked with Light’s.

Now that L had found the teens’ weakness, he could have some…fun.

Light shot up from his office chair, hands grabbing Ryuzaki’s hips. His tongue flickered out, licking along the detectives’ lower lip. L willingly parted his lips, pressing his body closer to Light’s as the boys tongue darted in to play with his. They broke apart, breathless, and Light moved his mouth to L’s neck.

Ryuzaki threw his head back, hands clutching desperately at Light’s back. “Oh, Mello…” he moaned.

He felt the appendage that had been drawing circles along his neck withdraw. A growl seemed to erupt from Light’s throat and the detective found himself being thrown across the room. He thudded against a desk in a most painful position, eyes flickering open in time to see Light running up the stairs.

L scrutinized Light’s reaction. The act of physical force unprecedented for the teens’ usual standard hinted at underlying issues.

Light was…insecure?

L got to his feet warily. He wasn’t too fond of being thrown around, but he supposed he did deserve it. If Light had started moaning someone else’s name in a moment of passion…

L gritted his teeth together.

Ryuzaki made his way up the stairs, heading for their bedroom. He discovered draws pulled open and clothes strewn across the floor. What the hell?!

Ryuzaki exited the room, searching for Light. He spotted movement in the office and he rushed down the stairs to discoverer the teen heading for the exit, a bag in his hands.

“Light-chan!”

Said boy turned around, his face livid. “It’s Yagami-kun.” He said coldly.

“What are you doing?” L asked, moving towards his angry lover.

“I won’t keep you from your precious Mello!” he yelled. With that, he wrenched open the door and broke into a run towards the elevator, letting the door slam shut behind him.

Sighing and shaking his head, L made his way to the monitors. The melodramatic idiot…

A frown formed on his features at what he saw, though. Light was sitting in the corner of the elevator, his head in his hands. Even when the elevator stopped at the ground floor and the doors slid open, Light remained in the same position for several minutes.

Finally, the teen walked out of the elevator. Turning his attention to another monitor, L watched as Light turned around, giving one last wistful look towards the security camera, where he surely knew L would be watching. He wiped his eyes with the back of his hand and walked out of the building.

L groaned. He hadn’t expected the boy to just up and leave. He thought there’d be some verbal abuse, and some time to explain the situation. He imagined Light scolding him, a frown upon his face, but his eyes twinkling with amusement.

Great. A night without Light.

L slouched upstairs. He didn’t feel like working, and his sweets didn’t sound too appealing at the moment. He’d just lye on the bed and feel sorry for himself. Sometimes, lying with Light, he could achieve slumber.

But sleep would surely not come tonight.

Meanwhile Light stormed through the streets, infuriated, hurt and confused. How could L do this to him?

Although, he supposed, I should’ve known really. I mean, he’s never even said he loves me!

There was a knock at the front door of the Yagami household. Who would be calling around this late? Sachiko wondered as she went to open the front door.

On the doorstep stood Light.

“Light-kun! What’s wrong?” she asked, embracing her son and holding the door open for him. He walked inside and dropped his bag.

“Can I stay here for a while?” he asked.

“Of course, this is your home!” she exclaimed. “What happen? Did you have a fight?” she asked in a sympathetic tone of voice.

Light stiffly nodded and headed upstairs. “Thank you, Okaasan.” He called from the landing.

Light opened the door to his old bedroom. It was just the same as he’d left it; he didn’t know why he’d expected it to look different.

With a sigh, Light sat down on the edge of the bed. Maybe tomorrow he’d go and have a look at some local apartments. He might as well start renting his own place, and get a job.

L huffed, getting out of bed. He’d had enough – he couldn’t take it anymore. He slipped on his shoes and walked out into the night.

A/N: Okaasan means mom XD
