“What are you reading?”
A lone gray eye slid sideways and downward. There were just so many ways to phrase an answer to that question, but Kakashi sighed and decided to take the easy way out. “A book.”
The girl seemed satisfied with the answer and curled up next to him, watching him read with wide black eyes. “Uncle Naruto says you’re a pervert,” she said, picking at the blades of grass by her feet. “What does that mean?”
The Copy Nin turned the page. “It means that I’m extra fun to be around.”
“You’re not that much fun at all.”
Kakashi winced. Apparently, bluntness ran on Sai’s side of the family.
The kid was still for a little bit, but she eventually got restless and began trying to worm her way into his lap. “Play with me,” she ordered, reaching for his forehead protector with a chubby hand.
Kakashi moved out of range with practiced ease. “How about I read to you instead?”
“Ok.”
He smiled and settled the child on his knee, opening the Icha Icha again and reading aloud from where he left off.
Sai probably wouldn’t mind, but Sakura was going to have a fit.
a/n: Ok, now it’s the end.
