The Dress

A tear slid down his pale cheek as his soulless amber eyes stares at the newspaper in his hands. He was gazing at the ad he had put in just the day before. It was for a wedding dress he was selling. He had even put a picture with it.

The dress was beautiful. It was pure white with a long train in the back. A group of blood red roses encircled the waist. The gown came with a beautiful tiara attached to a silk veil. She would have looked like a goddess in it; would have being the key words.

The man still stares at the ad, but his thoughts wander. He thinks back to the time he was with her; to his past he tries so hard to forget.

He was at home. It was raining heavily and every few moments lighting would flash. He sat on his couch and watched the news as he waited for her to come home.

Suddenly the phone rang. He jumped up. he picked up the phone. “Hello,” he said.

“Hey honey. I found the most gorgeous dress ever for the wedding. I ordered it and I’ll leave soon,” replied a woman.

“Ok, just be careful. It’s storming outside and the roads are pretty slippery.”

“Sure thing. See you soon, bye.”

“Bye,” he said and hung up the phone. The man continued to watch the news and waited for his fiancée.

A few hours had passed and the rain had just gotten worse. The woman still had not returned and the man was getting worried.

He was finally sick of waiting. He grabbed his keys and jacket and went to the car. He backed out of the driveway and headed for the dress store.

He then saw a bright reddish-orange light. As he got closer, he saw that it was flames. His heart sank. He stopped his car, got out and ran a bit closer.

He saw a red Toyota; her car. He looked down and saw something among the debris. It was a wallet. He picked it up and slowly opened it.

He looked at the driver’s license and went pale. “Isabella Swan,” he read. He looked back out at the raging flames.

A ghostly figure walked out. It was Isabella! She walked towards him and touched his cheek.

“I love you Edward,” she whispered as she faded into the night. Edward touched his cheek and fell to his knees. He continued to stare at the flames as his tears mixed with the rain.

Edward woke from his trance just as the phone rings. He wipes his tears, answers the phone, and writes down the first offer for the dress.
