Chapter 1: Bargain
“Now tell me why exactly I’m with you again?” Kagome asked an irritated look on her face. She frowned as she received no answer, and stomped on her foot in a child-like fashion. “Why aren’t you telling me?!” She almost screamed, and gave up as still no answer came. “Fine… be that way…” She mumbled, crossing her arms over her chest and pouted.
The Raikage sighed, already annoyed with this particular girl. Though, if his plan actually worked, than Kumogakure would be rid of her forever, and they would gain an important alliance as well. He glared at the kunoichi from under his robes, he had no liking for this girl and he knew that none of the villagers of Kumogakure did either. In fact, most people hated her, himself included. Even if she did nothing in particular, the one reason was good enough.
She was a Jinchuuriki. She was the human container of the Nibi no Nekomata.
The incident happened about thirteen years ago. Nii Yugito, who was the former Junchuuriki of the Nibi, had been in some kind of attack that resulted in the release of the demonic cat and also her death. Yugito was only six at the time. The cat had ravaged the village yet again, and another ninja had to sacrifice himself to seal the Nibi in another container. He was pissed at Kagome because he had lost hundreds of shinobi in that attack, even if she did not attack the village herself. If he could have his own way, he would’ve simple killed her and be done with it, but the High Council disagreed. Even if she still was a Jinchuuriki, they could not kill off one of their own soldiers.
So he had figured out a plan to get rid of her, and out of Kumogakure once and for all. He had noticed that the tensions were rising between Kumo and Konoha, so he would have to make a bargain with them. He would offer them Higurashi Kagome, and allow any shinobi that Konoha picked to marry her. Then when she got hitched, he would simply high-tail it back for the hills, and the problem would be solved.
They would have an alliance with Konoha, and the Jinchuuriki would be gone from his village for good.
He frowned again as he heard Kagome having yet another hissy fit, asking… no demanding him why she was coming along with him. He, of course, did not have to lower himself as to talk to a demon, so he said nothing. Instead, he looked to his two ANBU guards that he had dragged along with him for protection.
Mikaze Miroku, he was one of the higher elite ANBU, and he was a Houshi. Of course, the Raikage did not tell any other village that he had a monk under his command. Both Miko’s and Houshi’s had gone extinct long ago, probably about five hundred years ago for some unknown reason. He had brought Miroku along because he could simply control Kagome if she got out of hand, which she had a couple of times before. Miroku also had Kekkei Genkai, which made him even stronger. The Kazaana it was called, it could suck up anything within his right hand, though there were some drawbacks. If he sucked in anything poisonous, then he would simply be poisoned. He also had to wear a special glove that contained the Kazaana, or else it would suck everything around him into it.
Kirimi Sango was the other elite ANBU he had brought with him. She was a descendent of Youkai Taijiya, or demon exterminator. She was also very strong, probably one of the best in Kumo’s military force. She was also engaged to Miroku.
They were both only eighteen, while Kagome was only thirteen.
The Raikage rubbed him temple in irritation as Kagome seemingly started to hiss, just like the demon cat that she was. He was not in the mood for Kagome’s annoying antics; they would reach Konoha in a matter of minutes. He was not looking forward to seeing the Hokage, who he had heard was relatively new, she was named Godaime after the Sandaime’s death due to the Suna and Oto alliance against Konoha.
Normally, he had have chosen this moment to strike, when Konoha was down and out for the count, but he could not afford to. His own shinobi forces were dwindling for some reason; the number of children who could not pass the academy’s simple passing exam was high for some reason he could not explain.
So, he had chosen to make an alliance between Konoha and Kumo instead of attacking them for now. Of course he would not keep the alliance for very long. When his own shinobi forces recovered, he would break the alliance, and attack Konoha when he had the chance. He simply hated Konoha and their ways, and dreamed of destroying that Leaf Village.
The Raikage opened his eyes wearily, hopefully by the time that this meeting was done, Kumo would have an alliance with Konoha and the Jinchuuriki would no longer be his problem.

“Why didn’t he tell me why I was coming here?” Kagome mumbled bitterly, glaring at the wall. She was currently sitting in some meeting that she wasn’t really paying attention to. Village politics were just simply not her thing, and she cared not to learn about them at all. She glanced up interested with her silvery-blue eyes as the Hokage seemed to actually agree with what the Raikage was saying, and that was surprising.
Kumogakure and Konohagakure were not allies in the least.
But, seemingly out of the good of his heart, the Raikage decided to change that. ‘I wonder what he’s up to…’ She thought suspiciously, narrowing her eyes at nothing. She knew the old bastard was only dong this for his own benefit, but why did he have to drag her along, she really had no idea.
‘If any of the Konoha-nin finds out that I’m a…they‘ll hate me just like in Kumo…’ She thought bitterly. She never could bring herself to say the word ‘Jinchuuriki,’ even in her own mind. She found the term dehumanizing and degrading, she was human as anyone else. The only difference is that she simply had some demonic cat sealed into her gut.
She blinked as a thought suddenly came to her. ‘I’ve heard that Konoha also has a Jinchuuriki as well… I wonder what Bijuu it is…’ She thought distractedly, not even looking up as the Raikage seemed to point at her. He was probably telling the Hokage to be weary of her, or something stupid like that. ‘It’s not like I’m going to attack anyone…’ She thought bitterly, a frown marring her pretty face.
Just because she had the Nibi sealed inside of her, didn’t mean she was the Nibi itself. She was not a mindless demon that was hell-bent on destroying everything, like most of the Bijuu were.
She sighed quietly, not wanting to catch any of the Konoha-nin’s attention. They might think she’s weak if they caught any kind of emotional distress. The Raikage might punish her if she was any kind of burden to him on this trip. ‘He already acts like I’m a burden…’ She thought, glancing up at Miroku as he stared at her.
She fought back the urge to smile. Miroku-sama and Sango-sama was the only people in the entire village of Kumogakure that would willingly speak to her valued them greatly, and she would die for them if they ever needed it. They were only friends; even her clan rejected her after the Nibi was sealed.
Apparently, her clan, the Higurashi clan, was descends of Miko’s and Houshi’s, though one had not appeared in a long time. But their blood was till holy, and they simply could not have a demon tainting their pure name. So, they had kicked her out of her own clan, she couldn’t believe that they did so. Even if they had rejected her, she did not hate them like she thought she should have, they were still her family.
Kagome blinked as Miroku gestured towards her silently, she could tell from his stance that he was worried about her. She smiled slightly, happy that someone cared about her. She nodded to him, quietly telling him that she was alright, and he relaxed slightly. Though, she still could tell that he was worried for her, from the expression of his violet eyes that could be seen through his animal mask.
Kagome snapped her head away from Miroku as a voice pierced through the air.
“Are you Higurashi Kagome?” The Hokage asked, staring at her with amber-brown eyes. Kagome gulped silently; slightly nervous that all the Konoha High Council and the Hokage were staring at her with unreadable expressions.
“Yes…” She said in a strong voice, even though she was trembling on the inside. She could not afford to look weak in front of the Konoha-shinobi, she would definitely be punished if she messed this up. She was slightly surprised as the Konoha-nin looked away from her, seemingly content with her answer. ‘What the…? What’s going on exactly?’ She thought confusedly, wondering what was going on. ‘Why was I even dragged her in the first place…?’ She thought wearily, shifting on her seal slightly. Did she have a role in sealing the alliance with Konoha? ‘What could they use me for…?’ Kagome blinked at her own thought, and looked out the open window, ignoring the conversation once again.
She closed her eyes contentedly as a breeze flowed through her dark hair. She had always liked wind, which was very understandable. Wind was one of the three elements that she was strongest using. Lightening was, of course, her second element. All of the shinobi had to use lightning; it basically was a requirement to even be a part of Kumogakure. Kumogakure was located in the Land of Lightning after all. Fire was her third element; she could use it very well because it was the Nibi’s main source of power.
Kagome sighed, and snapped her head up again as the Hokage looked at her for the second time, even more intensely than before. She blinked as the Hokage spoke up loud enough for the whole room to hear.
“Are you sure that you want to do this?” The Godaime asked, directing the question towards the Raikage.
The Raikage stayed silent for a moment, then spoke. “Of course, Hokage-dono. It is the least we can do for past…mistakes…” The Raikage seemed to carefully word, hesitating on the ‘mistakes’ part.
Kagome blinked, totally lost on what they were speaking of. It sounded like she was part of the deal.
The Godaime nodded, a slightly strange and disbelieving look on her pretty face. “Alright, I agree to your proposition. In exchange for Konoha’s alliance, we will effectively engage Higurashi Kagome to one of our own shinobi.”
Kagome blinked for a second, before her silver-eyes went wide as the last comment finally sunk into her brain. ‘W-what? No frickin’ way!’ Kagome thought disbelievingly, her mouth wanting to drop open.
She was the bargaining chip between Konoha and Kumo? This is what she was brought along for?
‘Now it makes sense! So the Raikage was intending to get rid of me all along!’ Kagome thought bitterly, her hands clenching into tight fists. The Raikage was only doing this for his own purposes, just as she thought in the first place.
Kagome stayed silent the whole time, not daring to say a word. She could not, especially in front of her Raikage, she was a shinobi, she was trained to be silent and to obey every order that her superior commanded her to. Even if it means marrying some random stranger that she had never met before. ‘My life sucks…’ She thought miserably, her head hanging down limply. She had no desire to marry anyone. What if he found out that she was a Jinchuuriki? They would hate her for sure, everyone did.
Someone from Konoha would be no different.
Kagome listened intently to the conversation, knowing it totally involved her now. Her silvery-blue eyes narrowed as the Hokage seemed to list a number of shinobi that were her age, suggesting that she could get engaged to any one of them.
She went stiff as the Hokage listed off one particular name. It definitely rang a bell in her memory.
An Uchiha.
She frowned, her hands clenching even more. Her clan for some reason despised the Uchiha clan that she could not explain. ‘But I thought the Uchiha clan was killed…’ Kagome bit her lip; her clan would only hate her more if she married an Uchiha.
‘Oh yeah…I was kicked out of my clan, wasn’t I?’ She thought sarcastically and bitterly, her fingers digging into her pale skin. Her eyes lit up in a dangerous hue.
There was no way she could marry a Konoha-ninja, and she would escape it at any cost.
She would make it a living hell for all the ninja that Hokage had listed off.
She had no desire to become a citizen of Konoha.
‘Even if it means to reveal that I’m a Jinchuuriki, I will escape this agreement at any cost necessary.’ Kagome thought, a fiery and determined expression lighting up her silvery-blue eyes.
‘Any means necessary…’
A/n: Sorry it took me so long to get this out but I’ve been having computer problems. As many of you may know this story was originally Five Tailed Demon Dog’s but they allowed me to adopt it from them since it was originally going to be discontinued. I hope that you will enjoy it.
Btw you will have to vote on pairings. I will accept yuri votes but I will NOT be putting Kagome with Itachi and Sasuke since there are waaay too many of them as is and if they’re one of the candidates in the poll than the others rarely if ever have a chance. Harem choices welcomed as well.
Poll:
Kakashi/Neji/Kagome/Gaara: 1
