Author’s notes: Sorry it’s been such a long time since I’ve updated but I was working on another story. Oh by the way I would like some ideas for a Kingdom Hearts X-over with Eva. I just really want to do one. Sorry if this isn’t as good as the other chapters. Anyway that’s enough yakking. On with the story (The next Author’s notes won’t be as long, I promise

Chapter Three: Shopping and tension

Asuka awoke feeling fully refreshed. She thought about the nightmare she had last night. ‘What was that voice’ she thought ‘It sounded so soothing and comforting and…ack what am I thinking, it was just a dream.’

She got out of bed and dressed herself in some clean clothes. She walked out to the kitchen and saw Rei saitting at the table, eating breakfast. “So, you’re awake” said Asuka. “It would appear so,” said Rei in the same tone she always used.

Asuka took out some cereal, a bowel and some milk and settled down to eat. As she ate she thought to herself ‘That voice last night, it sounded so familiar…was it …could it have been…Re-’ “No!” she cried out loud.

“Is something wrong Asuka?” Rei said calmly. Asuka looked up and stammered, “What…no nothings wrong, I’m fine, perfectly fine nothings wrong with…” Asuka suddenly realised that Rei had used her first name.

“You …you used my first name” Asuka said, completely shocked. “You did say it was your name,” said Rei. “ And I would appreciate it, if you no longer called me a doll”

“Uh…sure” said Asuka, still amazed at Rei using her first name, she hastily decided to change the subject. “Are you going to wear that school uniform every day.” She said. Rei looked down at her clothes. “Do you find something offensive about them Pilo- I mean Asuka”

“No, it’s just that they’ll get dirty,” said Asuka “Why don’t we go shopping?” “But it may be dangerous outside” Rei warned. “Don’t worry I’ll protect you” said Asuka sarcastically. Rei, though she knew that the comment was a joke, found Asukas words comforting.

So, the two girls went outside and made their way to the shopping district. It was dawn and the sun was just beginning to rise. Asuka and Rei walked side by side through the ruined streets. They did not speak until Asuka spotted something.

“Hey” she cried, “There’s a clothes shop that’s nearly intact.” “It appears to be locked.” Said Rei “I’ll fix that, stand back!” shouted Asuka. Rei did as she was told and Asuka gave the door an almighty kick, and another, and another, until finally (due to some rusty hinges) the door collapsed. Asuka brushed off her hands and went inside.

‘She is so…physical’ thought Rei dreamily, then she shook her head ‘What am I thinking, I must be tired’ “Aren’t you coming in Wonder girl?” said Asuka from inside the shop. Rei snapped out of her trance and went inside.

The inside of the shop was dark and dusty. And Asuka was picking out clothes for herself. “Is that black, yuck…ah here’s something green, nice” she muttered to herself. Rei stood at the entrance of the shop feeling slightly left out.

“Hey, wonder girl, aren’t you going to try something on?” asked Asuka. “Why?” Rei asked “I see no point in this activity, shouldn’t we be gathering food?” “Ah we can collect food later, c’mon I’ll pick something out for you” Asuka said

‘Why am I doing this for her’ Asuka thought ‘Pity, that’s it pity’ she looked around the shop and choose a black t-shirt with a pink heart on it and some blue jeans. “Now, get in there and change” Asuka commanded.

Rei did as she was told and went into the changing rooms. After five minuets Asuka got worried. “Are you okay in there, Rei?” she asked. “Everything is fine” Rei called out from the changing room. Then there was a crashing sound.

Asuka ran into the changing rooms in a panic. “Rei! Rei!” she screamed. She opened the first changing room she came to and saw Rei dressed in nothing but her bra and panties. “Is something wrong Asuka” Rei asked calmly.

Asuka just stood there in shock; a giant wave of emotions had just hit her. ‘Oh my god she’s naked…well not naked, but still… she is kind of hot…WHAT, what am I saying. I must be going insane!’ Rei stood, puzzled. “Are you alright Asuka?” she asked.

Asuka shook her head and said. “I-I’m…fine, I was just …wondering what took you so long” “I had trouble undressing myself, the zip was broken on my school uniform, now could you stop staring at me and let me finish.” Asuka nodded and went out of the room.

When she got out of the changing room Asuka sighed and sat down on the floor. ‘Why did I think those things’ she thought ‘was I actually attracted to her. No! I know I’m strait… at least I think I am, I never really was attracted to any boy at my school, there was Kaji but that was just a crush and-”

“I am ready Asuka,” said Rei from the changing room. She stepped out and was dressed in the clothes Asuka had picked out for her. “Wow, you look…very…nice” said Asuka quietly. “Thank you” Rei said, blushing a little. ‘Why do I feel so nice’ Rei thought.

Over the next few hours Rei and Asuka picked out clothes for each other (well it was mostly Asuka). And by the end of the day they had a big pile of clothes for each other (well they were nearly all Asukas). And before they got home they decided to get some food.

Rei looked around the shop for some vegetarian instant meals while Asuka looked around for some instant ramen. Asuka shouted across the shop “Hey Rei, of all the outfits I picked out for you which one do you like the best.”

“I enjoyed wearing the black t-shirt with the pink heart and the blue skirt.” Rei said as she walked across the shop to Asuka. “Asuka, are we…friends?” Rei asked “Well at first I thought that you were annoying, but I had fun today, so yeah we are friends now”

‘Wow friends, friends with wonder girl and maybe more. NO!’ thought Asuka ‘Amazing, I am friends with someone who used to hate me’ thought Rei ‘And maybe it will go further. NO!’ They both snapped out of their trance and they went outside and loaded their shopping onto a cart they had outside.

Both girls looked at each other and smiled. “Lets go home,” said Asuka “Very well” said Rei happily. They both walked home, happy in the knowledge that they will be just fine, even if they were alone.
