Listening to the relentless beeping of an alarm clock is not the best way to wake up. The best way to wake up is when your own eyes open on their own. Now is that too much to ask for? Oh well.
I walked to the door as someone started to continuously pound on the door for no apparent reason. I was pushed back as soon as the door was open an inch. All I saw was a blur of blonde.
“Whoa. What’s the hurry?” I asked.
Kylie looked at me as if I was insane. Did I forget something?
“Wait. What’s today?”
“Saturday you dummy!”
I was rendered speechless. I couldn’t believe it. I was so nervous I completely forgot about Jason and my date tonight. As soon as it dawned on me I started jumping up and down in a circle with Kylie. But it slowly came to a stop. It couldn’t be stopped Becca’s words last night kept ringing in my head. What’s wrong with me?
“Hey you okay?”
I smiled. “Yes I am going out with this hot guy. Today cannot get any better than this.”
We continued to squeal and I rudely shoved her irritating voice of my head. Kylie sat on my bed as I rushed to get ready. Errands won’t run themselves you know.

“Holy crap. Who are you getting stuff for? The army?” Kylie questioned.
The two of us collapsed onto a bench in the crowded mall. Bags hung from both our arms.
“Well a bunch of people from back home asked for some stuff.” I answered breathlessly.
The two of us just shared a silence as we sat there getting out energy back.
“So…” Kylie trailed off as if she lost her train of thought.
“What?” I asked curious.
“What are you guys going to do? You and Jason I mean.”
I opened my mouth then closed it. It was then I realized I didn’t know what the hell we were going to do. So I just shrugged sheepishly.
“So it’s a surprise?” Kylie asked.
“Yeah I guess all he told me was to meet him here at 8.” I answered.
“So romantic. I bet he’ll do something so…I don’t know…cool?” she said.
The two of us just looked at each other confused then burst into a fit of giggles.
“Come on let’s go. We need to find you an outfit.” Kylie said as she got up still giggling.
I smiled and giggled along with her. I stood up and the two of us walked out of the mall. Soon we made it back to my dorm. Delirious the two of us put our bags in my closet and looked through my clothes. I lost count of the outfits we considered in a matter of minutes. Tops, pants, skirts, and dresses were thrown in any direction and landed where they landed. We didn’t care all we cared about was finding the right set of clothes for this once in a lifetime chance. Can you imagine? Getting asked out with one of the hottest guys at school. This is one of the best things to ever happen to me ever since I came to this boarding school.
“Oh my god! This is the one.” Kylie exclaimed.
I looked over to her and saw that she was holding up a denim skirt with a red tube top and a denim jacket that ended just at the top of my waist. I smiled and changed. Then we hurried out of there. While the blonde drove us there I silently sat there. Nerves had me playing with the hem of my skirt and excitement that kept me smiling. Somewhere deep in the back of my mind dull alarms kept on ringing. But I ignored them and blamed them on Becca. Reminding myself to give her a piece of my mind afterwards.
We soon reached the mall and I got out.
“Thanks Kylie.”
“No problem. Tell me how it went okay? Every juicy detail.”
I smiled and nodded. I closed the door and watched her drive off.
“Wow. You look beautiful.”
I turned around a little startled and noticed Jason smiling. I smiled back.
“Thanks.” I said.
“Shall we?” Jason said as he held out his hand towards me.
I smiled a little suddenly a little shy. I took his warm hand and he led me to a black Mercedes Benz. We got in and drove out of the mall parking lot.
“So where are we going?”
“That will be a surprise. But you don’t need to worry. You’ll have the time of your life.”
