Disclaimer: I do not, unfortunately, own Animorphs --, I do however own Terran and all of the plots that center around him.
A/N: I do not know when this takes place. I do know it is after David, but before Rachel dies, before they're living in the woods. If you could help, please tell me where you think it is.
My name is Terran. I can't tell you my last name, where I live, who my friends and family are and I especially can't tell you about the others. If I tell anybody these secrets, the Yeerks and Controllers could find me, you might even be one reading this. Why am I writing this if I can't tell hardly anything? Cuz' I want people to know of the silent attack on earth right now, as I write this, and that war is real. Almost too real.
It all started one normal day. I was a normal thirteen-year-old boy, going to normal school. I had pretty much a normal life. I was walking home from school one day and decided to take a shortcut through some woods that were out of the way a little bit. I was tired of the daily grind and wanted to take a little scenic route to brighten up my day. I walked a little ways into the woods and took a breather under a big oak tree. In a low-hanging branch there was a red-tailed hawk sitting inconspicuously right above my head, chewing on something. I started to say, "I wish I could be like you, hawk. Free and flying where ever you wanted."
The hawk stared down at me, like it understood me, then it looked out into the woods and started flapping around like it was insane. I turned to where it was looking and saw a blue blur.
"That was weird. I wonder what it was," I thought to myself, "and why the bird was scared of it."
I would never have guessed the hawk wasn't scared of the blur, but in fact was its best friend. I finally got up and continued on my way home. I got a little disoriented walking through the trees. I came to clearing and saw what that blue blur was: an alien. It looked like a blue centaur, with two normal eyes, and two eyes on stalks atop its head. Instead of a mouth, it had three vertical slits. On his hands, he had seven fingers. But my attention avoided all of this, my mind went straight to its tail, a tail with a huge scythe on the end of it. I thought that if the alien had wanted to, he could slice me up like butter with that tail of his.
Anyway, I walked into the clearing, behind the alien. Luckily he didn't see me. I tried to walk away slowly, without making noise, but just my luck, I stepped on a stick. One of his stalks turned around and stared at me for a split second. The next second, I was on the ground, with the alien over, and its tail blade just an inch from my throat.
Though there was no sound, I heard something talk to me, if that makes any sense.
Who are you? Why are you here? Are you one of them?.
I thought I was hearing voices in my head, like schizophrenia, then it came again.
Answer me! it screamed.
Now I was sure it wasn't schizophrenia.
"I'm Terran," I stammered.
What are you doing here, Terran?
The alien stared down at me with all of its eyes
"I was just walking through the woods."
Walking, or spying?
I saw its tail move closer and closer to my throat.
"I was walking. What is out here to spy on?"
Nothing, there is nothing out here. Besides me.
"And what, exactly, are you?"
I am an Andalite. The proudest and most noble race in the universe.
I was trying to take this all in.
"Why are you here on Earth?" I asked
That is strictly my own business.
"Who is that hawk?" I said as that same red-tailed hawk flew into the clearing.
That, is a hawk, he said, like he was trying to hide something.
A new voice sounded through my mind.
Lay off of him, Ax, he said.
Slowly the Andalite, who I assumed was Ax, stepped away slowly, lifting his blade from my neck.
He seems to dumb to no anything, or to be one of them, the new voice said.
I slowly put two and two together and found out this new voice was coming from the hawk.
"Who are you?" I asked in the hawk's direction as i stood up.
I am Tobias, it said to me.
I watched the hawk and Andalite move closer together. It looked like they were "talking" to each other for what seemed like ages.
Okay, Ax, just go feed and I'll take him, Tobias said finally. Ax turned and went into the woods. I wondered how it fed, then I realized I probably didn't want to know.
Okay, Terran, Tobias said, follow me.
I followed Tobias deeper into the woods. We seemed to approaching a house and a barn. All the while, the hawk, who told me everything. From when they were walking in the construction site, to the Yeerk invasion, to the walking salad-shooters, Hork-Bajir, David, the traitor, the infamous Visser Three and all of the people the Animorphs knew were controllers. I realized that I knew all of these kids from school, except Tobias, and never, in a million years, would have guessed they were the ones saving Earth from an alien invasion.
"Wow," I said after Tobias was done talking, "You're fighting guerilla warfare against aliens? From outer space? And an Andalite, Ax's brother, your father gave you the power to morph into any animal you touch? That's bizarre..."
Tobias asked me, You already know way too much, and can't tell anyone at all. Now I have a proposition for you. Do you want to be an Animorph? Just remember, I am only telling you this because you know everything now.
I was starting to think of the consequences. I decided that dieing in a war would be better that having one of those slimy slugs crawl into my brain.
"I will," I said cooly, knowing in my mind that was anything but cool.
Positive? I mean this is bigger than all of us, maybe even bigger than the planet itself.
I started second guessing myself, but it always seemed that I should go ahead and fight.
"I am absolutely, one-hundred per cent certain."
Well if you're sure.
We finally made it to Cassie's barn. I walked up to the wooden barn with Tobias sitting on my shoulder. It smelled absolutely awful, I couldn't believe Tobias, Jake, Rachel, Cassie, Ax and Marco met here. I walked into the open door and saw the Animophs sitting around a bunch of bird cages.
"Hey, what are you doing here?" Jake asked standing up, looking like he was about to knock my lights out.
"Um," I started.
He's our new Animorph, guys, Tobias interrupted.
"Wait, aren't you Terran?" asked Rachel.
"Yeah, I am. I'm in your, History class, and P.E., and Math, and Science..." I started to trail off realizing I was in all of their classes, but they hardly knew me.
Everyone continued to stare at me, as if they were judging me. They were. Using thoutspeak.
"So, you wanna be an Animorph. You know the rules?" Jake asked.
"I think I do, no more than two hours in a morph, skin tight clothing. I got it."
"One more..." Marco implied.
"Oh, umm, don't tell anybody."
"Bingo," he replied.
Marco, Jake, Rachel, Cassie and Tobias continued to discuss some more things, things about me.
"Well, I think we've reached a verdict," Rachel said.
Cassie produced the sky blue Escafil device from behind a crate of birds.
"You know what to do," Cassie said in her calm, gentle, yet demanding voice.
I reached out and touched the cube's side. A burst of soft blue energy ran through my arm, like water.
I pulled away after the energy stopped pulsing through my veins. The blue light disappeared.
I had the power to morph. I was an Animorph.
sorry if this wasn't exactly meeting your criteria for a good fanfic, but cut me some slack, its my first one and i do plan to write more
