Chapter 3
Disclaimer: These characters aren’t mine and I don’t claim they are. They are Meg Cabot’s. That’s right, THE Meg Cabot.
I woke up the next morning at around 8:30.
My parents wanted to drive us to the university so I let them. After all, they did kind of have parents’ rights to see their daughter off to college.
On they way there, Will held my hand.
While in the car we all played the ABC games. You know the ones with the license plate and billboard letters. It was childish and silly but fun.
When we got to the beautiful castle-like college, we took a couple turns to get to Will and I’s new abode. My parents helped us bring all of the stuff in to our apartment and unpack. There was a lot of stuff, from pillows to dresses to my favorite books. The Order of the Bear bought everything for me and Will. I think the order bought a bunch of furniture for Lance and Jen even though they were going to Excalibur College.
When everything was unpacked, mom went to run out to the car. We all sat on the couches waiting for her to return. When she did, she had two presents in her hand on top of each other wrapped in printed wrapping paper.
Before she spoke, she looked at my dad and he nodded. “We decided to get you both a present”, she said.
She handed a box to each of us and sat down on the other couch next to dad. When we did not tear open the packages, mom waved her hand and said, “Open them”.
I tore the paper off and found that underneath he paper, on the box, there was a picture of a very up-to-date, newly invented, upgraded laptop!
I looked at mom, then dad, then Will. Will had the same expression I had on. Jaws dropped, mouth open. The open mouth then turned to an open grin. I looked at my mom and dad and said, “Oh my gosh! Thank you so much! You guys rock!”
I got up and hugged the two of them.
Will stood up with a grin on his face. “Thank you very much Mr. and Mrs. Harrison. I also would like to thank you for letting me live in your house for the last 6 or so months.” Will walked over to my parents and gave them a small hug. “I am grateful for your support”.
Oh Will, always so proper. I laughed inside my head.
My parents seemed happy to make the two of us happy. A few hours later they left teary eyed and smiling in that proud, on my goodness my daughter is growing up kind of way.
Later that evening, Will and I were talking about the laptops and why we surprised.
“I can’t believe your parent game me a computer” Will commented.
“I can’t believe the medieval professors gave anyone a laptop. Yet here it sits on my lap while I try to figure out how to use this contraption” I said.
“I think that Lance is good with computer, maybe Jen and him can come over and we can have a little get together” Will pulled out his phone and began dialing as he walked into his room.
I vaguely heard “Hey Lance…”
I wondered momentarily if that would be awkward at all and questioned (WRITER’S NOTE: No offense to Lance-Lovers) if Lance, good, and computers all fit in a sentence together.
I pushed those thought out of my mind and pushed the new piece of hardware away from me and got up to go admire my new dormitory.
My room included a large bed, a desk, some shelves, and a bookcase. The bookcase was filled with my favorite books. My absolute favorites were all on one shelf. These books were the ones I read more than once. On the top shelf of the bookshelf were the movies that belonged to me, including Phantom of the Opera, Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and Hairspray. On one of two shelves there were CDs and on the other were my favorite childhood stuffed animals. My eyes moved to my bed. My comforter was gold with purple sheets and purple pillows. My walls were a lavender shade.
This room was so amazingly cool and lovely.
When I was done ogling at my new parent free room, I went to sit by Will who was sitting on the couch watching TV. When I sat next to him, he looped his arm around me and pulled me closer. He kissed my hair and said, “Dinner is on the stove”.
“What are you making this time, Chef Will?” I asked.
He smiled and said in a very cute French accent, “We well av soom spa-gat-tea end mate-ball sose”.
We both cracked up.
After we ate, Will wanted to take a walk around campus.
I stayed home, curled up on the couch, reading a book from my favorite-book-book-shelf.
Then the door bell rang.
I got up, puzzled, as to who would visit me at 6:00 p.m.
I looked through the little whole in the door and my mouth dropped open for the second time today.
The person who just knocked was none other than my best friend Nancy.
WRITER’S NOTE: Sorry for the cliffhanger but I got to keep you all interested! I am also sorry for the short chapter but I needed to get the first time in the apartment over with. This time I need a total of 12 reviews. At the moment, there are 6 total review so I am asking for six more.
Thanks for the reviews-Midnitesparkle17
