AN: So in order to continue my avoidance of my LJ ficathon prompt, I persuaded Keegan Elizabeth to give me a couple drabble prompts tonight. She happily obliged with her musings.

This prompt: Girl Scout Cookies (yum right! And of course they’re out of season now here!)

FYI- I wrote two versions, this is the ‘angst’ version and there is also a ‘funny’ version to be posted.

Sara never had the chance to sell Girl Scout cookies. It wasn’t exactly a priority for her father- there were more important things, like driving to the liquor store for example, or making her run into the grocery store and buy him a pack of smokes while he sat drunk in his truck.

No, there were no cookie sales, badges, tan uniform shorts or giggling girls in the Sidle residence.

It was bittersweet for Sara- watching Grissom eat the ones she’d bought for him from their neighbor’s granddaughter. He’d sit watching TV, eating them by the tray- little flakes of coconut falling on his shirt as he mindlessly popped them in his mouth; Hank cleaning the crumbs up happily.

She missed out on selling the cookies then, but now- the cookies bought her. They offered a serene comfort- a peace of mind… a feeling of home she could only now begin to understand and to embrace.

The End!
