Ok I'm starting another fic. I know I know I haven't finished the last one... or updated it in a wile (for some reason a huge chunk of chapter 11 is missing and I'm to lazy to rewrite it at the moment) but I had this great idea while in the shower! Yeah weird place to have an idea... but anyway review please! I'll get discouraged if you don't . Let me know if somethings wrong with this and please no flamers... its just annoying. I'll try to update regularly but with two other stories going, two varsity sports, homework and parents complaining about how much I use the computer (they don't care if I'm reading I should be outside doing something else) soooo anyway here it is! p.s. Minerva isn't going to be in here unless absolutely necessary and yes I am a Trouble x Holly shipper... to all you who support Artemis x Holly... sorry guys but it just ain't gonna happen

Chapter 1: The Latest Genius in the Clan

Ardana Ireland:

Elizabeth was an ordinary girl. Besides the fact that she could speak five languages, type faster than anyone on known record, do math complicated enough for even the best mathematicians turning to their calculators in her head and that her parents were entirely unknown. She had grown up in an orphanage. The Burley orphanage in the small town of Ardana in northern Ireland.

She had long raven black hair that hung straight down to her waist when loose and piercing eyes. Her eyes were another strange thing about her. One was an unsettling blue but the other was a soft hazel. Her skin was pale from too many hours in front of the local library's single computer. She was uncommonly short only five foot four although she was nearly sixteen years of age and about to be turned out of the orphanage.

She had been at Burley since she was one years old. No one knew how she had arrived there or who brought her but she had been found on may fifth in a small basket outside the orphanages door. No note, no message, no nothing to tell where she had come from. Now as was customary the orphanage had arranged for her to be tested to see who her parents were. They only did this to the teenagers who were about to be turned out because they were old enough to survive on their own. They had taken the DNA yesterday morning and the results were bound to come in any minute now.

Elizabeth was pacing outside the doctors door impatiently. Who could she be related to? Maybe a famous movie star or an actress. Perhaps a scientist or an important politician. She was turning to make yet another loop in front of the door when it was opened. The tiered looking nurse who had greeted her the other day looked around the corridor her eyes finally resting on Elizabeth who was watching her expectantly.

“Your parents have been found. The doctors waiting for you.” she said letting the orphan in.

Police Plaza, Haven:

Finally the promotion had pulled through. Those were the thoughts swirling around Corporal Sage Kelps mind as she headed down to the commanders office. Her mothers office to be exact. Sage was being promoted to Captain. The second female captain in the LEPRecon's history. The first of course being her mother. Holly Short.

“Come in!” her mother called as Sage raised her hand to knock. She had been expected. Not a good sign. Sage opened the door padding silently into her mothers office. On duty she was to call her mother Commander Short. It made for a better image her father (Trouble Kelp) had told her.

“Commander.” Sage said simply saluting her mother. Holly smiled at her eldest daughter.

“Take a seat.” she said waving her hand at one of the chairs in front of her desk. Holly looked tiered. Not surprising after the demon uprising last month.

“Now you know what to do for the promotion.” Sage nodded confused. “I have a mission for you though. Before you become a captain.” her mother continued. “An above ground jaunt.” Sage perked up instantly. She loved being above ground. Especially if she got to fly. Holly grinned seeing her daughters reaction. So much like her own. “We need you to go to Fowl manor.” Holly continued to her daughters surprise. “Fowl Manor?” Sage asked confused “But no one lives there.” Holly nodded sadly. “I know.” she said simply “But Foaly found the latest Fowl descendant. She's supposed to visit the manor some time. Apparently she's as smart as her father. Hopefully she can help.” Sage thought about this for a second “Does she know about the people?” “No.”

Sage frowned. “But then I'll be going against regulations revealing us to a mudmaid.” Holly nodded solemnly “Yes I know but over the past year more and more mudmen have found out about us and I'm starting to get worried.” Holly cracked a grin trying to make a joke out of the next bit. “Seems like Foaly's paranoia has finally gotten to me.” Sage smiled weakly there was something her mother wasn't telling her and Holly stood. “You know the drill. Above ground suit, one of the new wings and a blaster, just in case.” Sage grinned. Sweet. She would be flying. Holly frowned at her daughter “I don't want to find you trying to break records up there.” she warned and Sage grinned at her mother “Of course not.” she agreed calmly. They both knew it was a lie. Sage stood “I'll go get that equipment.”

Fowl Manor, Ireland:

Her parents had been found. both dead but they had left their daughter something. A house. And a lot of cash. The house was on the other side of Ireland, and it was huge. A large iron gate blocked the driveway. On it was inscribed two words Fowl Manor. The orphanage worker who had brought her here left her at the gate with a key to the house. “Don't break anything.” he warned and then left. Apparently to go visit his girlfriend who was in collage near here. Elizabeth was left to make the trek up the driveway herself.

Half an hour later she arrived at the house. It sat on top of a hill surveying the countryside below. The door was wood and ornately carved. The key turned easily in the lock and the door swung forward without a creak as easily as if someone had opened it for her. Stepping inside she paused to let her eyes adjust to the gloom. The first thing she noticed was the staircase. The next a small table with a little white envelope on it with the words to Artemis Fowl the third. They obviously had the wrong girl. She wasn't an Artemis Fowl the third, although her DNA linked her as a Fowl her name wasn't Artemis. Never the less curiosity caused her to pick up the letter and slit the envelope open. Inside was a single piece of paper.

Dear Artemis,

I am sorry I never knew you. I was here guarding the house when your mother gave birth and you were stolen away before I could see you. My sister Juliet was on guard next to Ginny. Unfortunately she was killed before I could ask her what you looked like. You probably do not know who I am so I will enlighten you. My name is Domovoi Butler. Unfortunately if you find this letter it means that I am dead and so can not assist you further than telling you that your father has left you something. It is on the computer in the main hall. More accurately on a small disk inside the computer. Even Mister Fowl has not told me what is on it although I can guess. The password is the family motto. You should find it somewhere around the library if you do not know it already. Good luck. You might need it.

Domovoi Butler

Butler, where have I heard that name? Elizabeth wondered, Oh of course. Artemis Fowl's bodyguard and loyal friend. Stuffing the letter into her pocket she contemplated on what to do. Oh well she would just have to do as the letter instructed even though she was not the intended receiver. Although maybe she was. The orphanage had named her themselves since there wasn't a note telling them what her name was. If she truly had been kidnapped as the letter said than her name was supposed to be Artemis Fowl the third. She frowned. But why would the kidnappers let her live. She mentally shrugged, she wasn't likely to find out by standing here. Pulling out the floor plan that the orphanage had given her she headed up the stairs towards the library.
