Chapter 1

Katherine Jacobson was the picture of perfection, she was just turning 19, had naturally straight deep auburn colored hair, sky blue eyes, and had a beautiful smile. Like many people claimed, but couldn't prove, Kat was a Wyckoff-ian, born and raised since forever and it was her grandmother Rosemary that had introduced her to the now famous Jonas Brothers.

Kat had met them at age 8, which meant the cute, romantic one was 9, the cute, funny one was 7, the cute, sensitive (then droolly) one was nearly 5 and the Bonus Jonas wasn't even at the bane of their existance yet. While Denise and Paul were Kat's second parents and the whole family were her best friends.

Kat stepped forward as her Starbucks drink was called, only to be cut off by a burly guy, a good two inches taller than her, she groaned in annoyance, this was just not her day. "Hello?" she tapped him on the back impatiently. "That's my drink," she informed him as though he were a mere teenager.

He turned and Kat frowned, she could remember nearly indentical features to his, but couldn't place them. The deep brown eyes that resembled recognition that Kat was fighting to remember. His wide set jaw and his quirked eyebrows told Kat that he too, was trying to place her. "Um, s-sorry," he stammered after the moment of silence and deep thought had dragged on, he took a quick step backwards to let Kat pass. "Do I know you?" he questioned finally, his voice deep and ragged as though he had a spark of recognition for Kat.

She toyed with the thought, brushing her windswept bangs sideways once more, behind her left ear. All at once it hit her and she smiled, "Kevin?" her voice feathery light and merely more than a whisper as she glowed.

His eyebrows furred together in a moment of thought before he, too, had grinned. "Kit Kat," he declared finally, sweeping the petite girl into a one armed hug. "You look amazing, what're you doing in LA?"

"Kev-o, never cease to welcome a girl, huh?" Kat teased, taking a sip of her coffee. "I'm just hanging out, I guess. I graduated from UCLA a year early and now I'm just taking it slow, see where life takes me."

Kevin nodded, his painter-esque hat sheilding his eyes from potential fans that could possibly ruin the moment between him and his childhood best friend. "That's amazing," he admitted, briefly wondering if he would ever make it to college to finish school.

Kat blushed and nodded vigorously, her eyes glowed that she finally had the moment to configure who Kevin Jonas was. "How is everyone?" she asked, taking stride with Kevin, who had grabbed his drink and motioned for her to follow.

"They're good, actually," Kevin nodded, his stride springy and sensible as they walked out of the local Starbucks and into the parking lot. "How'd you get here?"

"My roommate dropped me off," Kat smiled, lifting her wrist to check the time on her lime green and pink stripped watch. Kevin grinned mischievously and Kat's expression changed into one of bewilderment. "What?"

"Come home with me," he whispered, ducking his head and lowering his voice. "You can see everyone again," he urged, his eyes flickering wildly with the thought of possibly reconnecting.

Kat quivered as she bit her lip anxiously before she nodded, a smile flickering on her watermelon coated lip glossed lips. "Sure," she agreed, following Kevin's lead as he dug the car keys out of his pocket and unlocked a black Jeep Commander residing in one of the first parking slots.

Kat watched in bewilderment as he walked over to the passengers seat, but blushed faintly when he held open the door for her. "Thanks Kev," she smiled gratefully, tucking her sidebangs behind her left ear, exposing a simple stud in her upper ear.

"Sure," he nodded, smiling broadly as he jumped into the divers seat, his calloused hands gripped the steering wheel as he started the car, carefully pulling out and driving out.

"Always were the careful one, weren't you?" Kat smiled fondly at the memory of trying to teach Joe how to drive on the nearly deserted road of their road, to put it simply, it had been disastrous and Kat was surprised that Joe had managed to get his permit almost two weeks later. Ah, the golden days.

"Precious cargo," Kevin wriggled his eyebrows at her, winking playfully.

Paul Kevin Jonas II always knew how to make Kat smile or laugh, whether it was a nasty break up via text or email or even a sad movie and that was why Kat loved him to death for it.

Kat smiled broadly. "Didn't loose your touch either, huh, Kev-o," she teased with a lighthearted laugh that floated through the car and out the back window that were slightly adjar. "Turn on the radio, Country Boy."

Kevin rolled his eyes before complying as Taylor Swift's Our Song rang through his deadbeat speakers. It took a moment for Kat to realize where the song was, but within seconds, she was cheerfully singing along. "C'mon, Kev, you know you love it," she giggled, poking his cheek playfully when they reached a conciderably quiet road. He turned down the radio and pulled into a driveway next to a gleaming silver Lexus and another black BMW X3.

"Nice ride," Kat nodded approvingly as Kevin stopped the car and pulled out the keys, Kevin nodded, indicating he didn't care as much because they weren't his, the Jeep was.

He approached a fence and lifted his hand over the gate and felt around, glancing around wearily before he pulled out a silver key and unlocked the lock before motioning Kat inside the safe walls. "Welcome to Casa De Jonas," he smiled, his hands spread wide at the large yard with a small garden, a playset, and a basketball rim, Kat could only imagine the backyard.

"Dang Jonas," Kat smiled, she couldn't help but notice that Kevin took pride in her words, watching as his skinny jeans covered legs strode forward with a grace that 14 year old Kevin Jonas didn't have, especially in his freshman year.

Kevin grabbed the gleaming golden doorknob and pushed it open, shuffling his feet on the doormat before kicking off his boots inside, on top of a pile of Converse, more boots, and various other types of designer and well known shoes. "Hey ma, I'm home!" he hollered.

Joe was the first of the Jonas Clan to appear downstairs in a navy blue Ralph Lauren polo and jean skinnies. He stopped, eyeing Kat wearily before he grinned. "Kit Kat!" he grinned, his face the expression of a seven year olds at a candy store.

"Danger!" Kat returned the smile politely and 'oomphed' when he lunged forward in a tight, air compressing bear hug that probably lasted for the years that they hadn't spent with each other.

He pouted, "I resent that, you know."

If you all were wondering, it was the infamous Kat who had invented the name of 'Danger' for our little Joseph here.

"It's the complete and honest truth," Kat giggled, her quick intake of breath finally came along with the fact that she was finally noticing the magnificance of the house. "Still got that permit?"

"In my wallet," Joe smiled proudly, puffing out his chest in mock amusement.

"Where's little Nick J?" Kat quiered, tipping her head to one side curiously as she scanned the area.

"Probably in his room," Kevin shrugged as he heard his mom's wondering voice coming from upstairs, he could barely make out his mom's form as she walked briskly down the stairs with a hamper in hand.

"Denise!" Kat squealed as she caught sight of Mrs. Jonas seconds after Kevin had, causing her to drop the hamper in surprise.

Denise brushed the unruly dark brown curls out of her way and peered closer. "Katherine?" she asked, her eyes brimming with oncoming emotion as she smiled with delight. "Katherine Jacobson!" she shrilled, scurrying forward to sweep the girl that was nearly an inch and a half taller than her in a warming hug. "What in Heaven's name are you doing here?"

"I ran into Kevin at Starbucks," Kat admitted sheepishly, taking a step back to admire the older woman that she still concidered a motherly figure to her. "He brought me here."

"Paul Kevin Jonas," she narrowed her eyes teasingly. "What did I say about Starbucks?"

"That it was bad for me if I had it more than twice a day," he muttered, affection glowing for his family and friend.

"Now go upstairs and call Nicholas down," Denise commaned gently, ruffling his now exposed curls as he passed by, pausing for a moment to give his mom a returning kiss on the cheek. "You look wonderful, darling," she swooned, pressing her outsretched palms on Kat's cheekbones and giving her a neat once over.

"Thank you," Kat blushed profusively at the gentle woman's comment and nodded. "You look as beautiful as usual, Denise," she added with a bright smile that always seemed to get the older woman.

"You and you smooth talk," Denise laughed cheerfully. "I think I'm in the mood for some cookies, would you like some?"

"Sure," Kat returned the laugh as Kevin returned downstairs, Nick trailing behind in a plaid button down t-shirt and some skinny jeans. "Hey Nick," she waved.

Nick's eyes widened and he turned to Kevin, who was grinning with the simple 'I told you so' face before he rushed forward. "Kitty!" he grinned broadly.

"Nick J, he be off the chain," Kat shook her head in amusement. "When'd you get those?" she asked, flicking his bulging upper arms, although covered, they weren't too hard to make out through the flimsy fabric. "Last time I saw you, you had these little scrawny things for arms."

"Chicks love it," he chuckled, brushing a stubborn curl out of the way of his 'lady brows' as a Dancing With The Stars contestant called them.

"Yeah, yeah," Kat's sky blue gaze slid passed both Nick and Joe to find a little figure tightly hugging Kevin's leg. "Hey there cutie, what's your name?"

"Frankie," he mumbled, watching Kat closely. "And Kevin says you're Kat."

"I am," Kat nodded with a small smile as she crouched down to his level. "I'm friends with your brothers and if you'd like, we can be best buddies too."

Frankie played with the thought before releasing Kevin's leg from his grip and nodding. "Ok," he smiled, his features and Joe's features were nearly identical, no doubt there was the famous Jonas smile in there. "Can I tell you a secret?" he whispered.

"Sure," Kat smiled encouraging as he leaned forward, cupping his tiny hand around her ear and whispering loudly.

"I think you're pretty."

Kat melted, he was most definitely a Jonas. "Well aren't you a sweetheart?" she smiled. "Truth be told, Frankie, I think you're adorable, like, more adorable than Joey there."

That statement set the boy off in a victorious dance and song as he belted out that he was better looking than Joe. Kat laughed as she stood up, watching the little firecracker of a Jonas dance around gleefully. What a cutie. It was such a sight, that even, Joe -who was faking an insulted face- Jonas couldn't help but laugh.

"I am so mad that I don't have a video camera with me," Nick shook his head in disappointment, his curls swaying along with the fifteen year old's head. "Too bad."

"Such a shame," Kevin agreed with a hearty chuckle.

"Cookies are ready!" Denise called cheerfully from the kitchen as she grabbed the milk from the refrigerator.

"COOKIES!" Frankie squealed, darting into the kitchen with all of the enthusiasm the kid could muster as he climbed the stool and plunked himself onto it, grabbing a cookie from his plate and taking a big bite.

"Easy Frankie," Denise warned as the older teens followed at a more leasurely pace, taking their places and taking a bite.

"Always the best, Denise," Kat grinned, flashing her a broad smile as she nodded eagerly, the warm and doughy cookie tasting so good as though Kat hadn't eaten them in years, but for some reason everything with the Jonases always tasted better.
