A young girl slipped out of the one tiny house that was remained

A young girl slipped out of her tiny house. It was the only thing that remained of the once prosperous Gemston. A sudden wind whipped through the girls brown hair. She looked around and sighed. In her mind, she was wondering why she had to be the one to end up here, the only one left. After a moment she began to tell her story. No one was there, but she had to get it out. Her voice was extremely hoarse, as she hadn’t spoken or had any reason to speak for a long time. She didn’t seem to notice this fact, and began to spill out everything she had been holding in.

“I came to this town about six months ago,” she whispered. “It was a very nice, happy place. It was filled with animals, and everyone wanted to help everyone else. Tom Nook had me work for him so that I could pay off my mortgage, as I came from a very poor family. I had just finished work for the day and was heading home when disaster struck.

“Booker came rushing out from the town gate shouting that an army was coming. I don’t know why they came to our town or what they wanted. Booker told everyone to go into our houses and stay there until it was safe. Apparently Copper was trying to find the key to lock the gate. It had been lost many years ago, and no one had particularly cared, because no one thought there was any danger or there would ever be any danger.

“I ran straight to my tiny house and ducked under the cabin bed Daisy had given me. Suddenly the ground shook horribly as the gate was knocked to the down. I heard screaming and felt tears run down my cheeks. A few minutes later, everything was silent.

“I crept out from underneath the bed and slowly opened the door. I peeked around the corner and was completely speechless. Everything was destroyed. All the villagers houses were rubble, the trees lay everywhere, and Nooks store was a pile of concrete and furniture.

“Everyone had been taken away. I dropped to the ground, shaking horribly. Tears began to slide down my cheeks. I hadn’t cried since I was a young child. I cry all the time now.

“I have no way to connect to the rest of the world. There is a giant slab of stone where the gate used to be, so it looks like part of the wall to anyone that happens to pass by on their way to another town. I’ve tried everything I can think of to escape, but nothing worked. I almost broke my foot trying to climb the steps near the waterfall. Perhaps someone will remember the once beautiful town of Gemston one day and come find me here. But there is also the possibility that the army that destroyed my town has attacked all the other towns in our dimension. I must simply try to remain hopeful that I will be rescued from this awful barren wasteland.”

The girl became silent. She looked around the town and whispered something that only she could hear. Then she stood up and dusted herself off before turning around and returning to her house to dream of being rescued. After all, sometimes, dreams do come true.
