To love the Third Marshall…or is he the King of Rohan?
"Eowyn! Where are we going?" Aiden asked her best friend.
"Come on Aiden I found this beautiful spot I wanted to show you! Perhaps when we have taken lovers we shall bring them here for it is truly wonderful." Eowyn said excitedly.
Eowyn led Aiden up the steep mountain side and then walked a bit farther. She finally pulled to a halt and sat on a nearby boulder.
Aiden turned around and saw the most beautiful sight ever; from here she could see all of Rohan in all of its glory.
"It is beautiful Eowyn; I only wish…"
"What is it Aiden? What ails you?" Eowyn asked very concerned.
"It's nothing its just that I miss my brother is all. We used to be inseparable and then he left…Oh Eowyn I miss him so much."
"Aiden do not worry you will see you brother again. No doubt about it. Especially after all I have heard about him." Eowyn said gently to Aidan knowing that she often worried about her brother.
Aiden was the younger sister of Aragorn son of Arathorn. She, unlike her brother, did not have the life of a Dúnedain. She was granted a regular life, however that meant she was the oddball of her family for she was the only one not of the Dunedin. Her parents would still be alive however her father perished in battle, and her mother's will to live faded. After such an occurrence Aragorn took care of her she was raised with the elves, and her brother taught her every battle skill he knew. She was more exceptional at a blade then most anything else. She was very skilled though at archery as well. Soon though her brother needed to go and he was not sure when he would return, while he was gone Lord Elrond told Aiden of a foresight he saw. He told her to travel to Rohan for soon they would be in dire need of her help. That was when she was 16 nearly 9 years past. In that time she grew very close to Eowyn, Eomer, and Theodred. She considered Eowyn a sister and Theodred a brother, however Aidan had always been besotted with Eomer but she knew he did not feel the same way. Especially not when all the eligible females in Rohan were nearly throwing themselves at Eomer or Theodred.
"You're right but I can not help but worry over him. Though you, your brother, and your cousin have become like family to me, he is my only brother and I miss him dearly." Aiden said bowing her head.
Eowyn moved to hug her gently. Then they heard the sounds of horse hooves and they knew Eomer and Theodred were back. Eomer had taken his Eored for a bit of a orc hunting party. They were gone for naught but a few days. Aiden was angered however seeing as how she is a part of Eomer's Eored and she was not allowed to come.
"Ah Eomer and Theodred are back. Come we should greet them like young women properly should." Aiden said feigning serious. Then both herself and Eowyn burst into laughter for neither of them were proper women. They then ran down to their horses and rode back to the kingdom.
Just as soon as they were done cleaning their horses Eomer, Theodred and the rest of the Eored rode up. Eowyn and Aiden went running up to them. Aiden first greeted Theodred. She ran as fast as she could and jumped, he barely had any time to catch her.
"Ah there is my sister." Theodred said laughing; he ruffled Aiden's hair then set her down on the ground. Then Eowyn and Aiden switched places and Aiden jumped to Eomer who caught her with ease.
"There you are little fire." Eomer said hugging her to him. Little fire was the nickname Eomer gave Aiden as soon as he found out what her name meant. Aiden means 'little fire' in Elvish.
"We missed you so much Eomer." Aiden said as he let her down. "You two were gone for so long I nearly forgot what you two looked like."
"Ah! What a jest!" Eomer said rolling his eyes in a comical manner.
"Come, Come. You two must be starved! Let's get some food in your bellies and then you can take a bath, for you truly need it." Eowyn said wrinkling her nose jokingly. Theodred ruffled Eowyn's hair at that.
"Very funny Eowyn." Eomer said rolling his eyes.
"You know I was thinking the same thing" Aiden said linking arms with Theodred to walk back to the great hall.
Eomer felt a pang of jealousy at his cousin as she linked arms with him, but as usual he kept it down not letting his anger fill him like other times.
"So how did it go, my manly men?" Aiden said jokingly. Eowyn laughed very hard as her cousin and brother's eyebrows shot up.
"It went fine little Aidy." Theodred said hugging Aiden close to him and pressing a kiss to her hair.
"Yuck! Theodred germs!" Aiden laughed.
"Ah do you hear that cousin!? She does not want you! I personally think myself to be quite fit for the position on fair Aiden's heart." Eomer said in a mock stoic voice.
As Eomer said this Aiden couldn’t help but think about how true he was when he said that, even if he meant it in jest. “Ah Eomer I would have you but-”
“But what?! There is nothing stopping you!” Eomer said still sounding like he was joking but inside he truly wanted to know.
“You see there is a problem between you and the rest of the women in all of Rohan.” Aiden said a light smile tugging at the corners of her pouted lips.
“Problem?! I see no problem whatsoever dear Aiden. All the women love me!” Eomer said as he nodded his head to a group of women that had been giggling as he walked by.
“Ah that is precisely the problem. It would tire me so if I had to fight off all those women from my man. So alas I must find someone ugly to love! For then I shall have no competition.” Aiden said laughing along with a now chuckling Theodred and a hysterical Eowyn.
A/N: Hope you liked the first chapter! And yes I know people will most likely NOT like the idea of Aragorn having a sister, but at least give my story a try. Please R/R only constructive critcism please I do not appreciate things like "your story sucks you need to stop writing" there is a nice way to say it, thank you very much.
