Disclaimer- I Dont own 'em just Play with 'em

(A/N I know this isn’t at all like the characters but bear with me people)

“Next stop, Victoria’s Secrets”

“Nuh, uh Ruth do you remember the last time you dragged me in there?”

Ruth burst out laughing, “I remember” She tried to say between laughing in the middle of the mall.

Yep that’s right we are in the middle of the mall bored out of my mind on a Sunday afternoon in Indiana

“It’s just a simple lingerie store.” She said out after she finished laughing

“No” Jess tried to argue. But it wasn’t working this time

Suze stepped back one and Ruth gave her an exasperated look. She sighed, gruffly and grabbing a fistful of Suze shirt, tugged her toward the entrance. “Gina,” She moaned, pitifully. “He asked me if I wanted help in trying on a bra, forgive me for not being excited for another episode.

“Come on, it’s not like he would try anything because the only people who work there are gay guys and sad women”

The two women, upon entering, were hit full on by the pleasant aroma of perfume that coursed through the air. The smell alone was almost enough to melt Jess’s resolve.

The walls were covered with displays of lace and satin, ranging from soft, naive pastels, to dark, seductive tones, and even some neon coloured material with cute sayings or patterns, thrown in for the young adult consumers.

Ruth squealed in delight before skipping over to the nearest clothing rack that was lucky enough to have caught her eye. Jess followed. Seeing her companion’s obvious boredness, Ruth turned to her in an attempt to make conversation in hopes that it might loosen her up. “So, Jess, if I’m not mistaken, yours and Rob’s anniversary is coming up, huh? The 2nd of December, am I right?”

“Uh, Huh’ Jess nodded behind the curtain of clothing that was separating them, before looking up to acknowledge the vivacious woman. Ruth smirked before casually continuing. “Do you two have any plans in particular to celebrate this wonderful occasion?”

After a few minutes of silence, the sister-in-law and best friend turned to Jess and her eyes sparked in realization. “Don’t tell me you haven’t even thought about it!”

Jess smiled sheepishly and shrugged. “We’ve both been too busy, him with his the Garage, and me with my students.”

Ruth looked horrified. “Oh dear, excuse me for asking, but when was the last time you two were, you know, alone together?” Jess turned an even darker shade of red and stuttered, gaping like a fish.

“That is only on a need to know basis” she finally replied

“That long, huh?”

Ruht huffed, stood back and placed her hands on her hips in a business-like manner. Then, without a word, she strutted off in to the recesses of lingerie, leaving Jess alone to fend for herself.

Having lost her friend, she began to browse haphazardly through the store, admiring a display of elaborate corsets hanging on the wall and even grabbed a few pairs of boy shorts, when she heard Ruth’s voice calling out to her. “Jess, can you meet me by the dressing rooms?”

“Be right there!” She replied and began her trek towards the back of the store. The Sly Women met her, wearing a mischievous smirk. “Um, did you need something?”

“Try these on; I’m pretty sure I got your sizes correct.” Jess stared at the risqué articles of clothing. “You can’t be serious.”

“Honey, you have no idea.” Ruth answered back, strait-faced and serious.

With that said, she shoved Jess into a dressing room with an armful of clothing. “Try this little number on, first. While you’re in there, I’ll be putting these things-” She held up the boy shorts with a look of distaste on her face, “-back, where they belong.” Before she could even mutter a word of protest, Ruht was already gone.

Seeing no way out, Jess reluctantly complied and began to peel off her clothing. Picking up the satin-y nightdress that Ruht had thrown at her before vanishing, she inspected it. It was far from modest, black with roses printed over it and a bit of lace trim at the v-shaped neckline. This piece of work screamed seduction and it intimidated Jess. She slipped it over her head and tugged down, it was sort of tight, meant to hug every curve of the woman body. She looked at herself in the full-length mirror, self-consciously tugging at the hem, which fell a little higher than mid-thigh.

Ruth choose then to suddenly appear out of nowhere, which scared the half-naked woman out of her wits. Taking one look at her, Ruth almost screamed but settled for a small shriek. “Rob would die if you saw you in this!”

“I bet he would; of a heart attack that is.”

Ruth glared at Suze. “Oh jess, you look great, you could drive even the most sane man crazy.”

She fiddled with the nightdress a bit more before turning to Jess curiously. “You really think so?”

“I know so.”

Jess ‘politely’ declined to being stuck into anything else after that first selection, so the majority of the time was spent watching Ruth model different garments and her complimenting, generously, on each one.

After a while, Ruth finally picked out some favourites and the two headed to pay. Ruth chose to say nothing, simply smile, as she saw Suze go up to the sales woman, little black dress in hand.

With the knowledge that her husband wasn’t expected home for at least another hour, she didn’t bother trying to conceal her purchase and laid it out on her bed. It seemed to stare back at her, tauntingly. The thought of rob seeing her in this was humiliating, but a small part of her had prompted her to buy it, regardless. Wearing it had made her feel somewhat brave, and…sexy; the way that all women felt whenever they slipped on that particular “little black dress” that accentuated every dip and curve of her body.

She had just about given up trying to decipher why, exactly, she had purchased the nightgown when she heard a husky voice call her name a few paces down the hallway.

“jess…?”

Her eyes shot open in panic and her heart skipped a beat. She scrambled to shove the bag under the bed, and went on to frantically search for a hiding spot for the rose-patterned material. Roughly pulling open the nearest drawer, she shoved it inside, slamming it closed, and turned around just in time to see her husband’s drowsy form looming in the doorway.

He raised an eyebrow, after taking in her tense form. “Do you have a fever? You seem a bit flushed.” He walked over and placed a hand on her forehead.

With her heart still beating erratically, it took her a minute to find her voice. “N-no, I’m fine, you just frightened me. What are you doing home so early?”

Wrapping his arms around her waist, he pulled her away from the wooden dresser toward him. “I asked for some time off, considering that our anniversary is the day after tomorrow. I came home about two hours ago and feel asleep on the sofa; I just woke up.” He answered, brushing a chocolate tendril of hair away from her face.

“Oh.” -was all she could answer as lips began a trail from her jaw line south to her neck; causing her knees to do that funny thing they usually did whenever his lips came within contact of her skin, and she had to lean back against the dresser to support herself.

After a few innocent nips, he moved to her lips and she wrapped her arms, loosely, around his neck as he tugged the bind holding her hair up in a ponytail off and ran his fingers through the soft strands. She giggled in mid-kiss when he ran his hands down her spine to the curve of her back and purposely scraped his fingers across it, which tickled and caused her to arch into him a bit.

She was the first to pull back and giggled again as he groaned and rested his head, tiredly on her shoulder. “Want me to make you some coffee?” She asked, having completely forgotten about a certain piece of clothing. He pulled her back to him and she stared, lovingly into his good eye, moving her hand to brush the strands of ebony covering his left one. “Please, and thank you...” He answered.

She smiled and nodded before standing up on her tip-toes and placing a chaste kiss over his left eyelid.

Jess waited in the kitchen, by herself, with a silly grin on her face, for the water to boil. She found it unfair that he could cause her to turn to mush in such a short amount of time. This was a turning point for her, she would wear it, even if only to make her feel that she was brave enough to, but more so just to see her husband genuinely astonished, because let’s face it, to see the motorcycle hog lose it, even for just a fraction of a second, was worth wearing next to nothing just to achieve it. Plus, she guessed it could be some form of an anniversary present.

She was drumming her nails, idly, on the counter top when Rob walked into the room.

“Have you seen my black wool socks?”

Without even thinking, she answered. “Oh, I washed last night, so they should be in your sock drawer.”

It took Jess a full second to realize exactly what drawer she had thrown her nightgown into, in her haste, and she nearly knocked over a mug in her hurry to stop Rob from opening that dresser drawer.

Almost tripping in the hallway, she caught him just as he had thing halfway open and she struggled to distract his attention. “uh...um...Rob, you’re coffee is ready.”

He gave her a quizzical look. “Alright, just let me-” when he turned away from her. she shrieked;

“No!”

“Okay, I’m listening.” He crossed his arms over his chest, waiting expectedly for some sort of explanation for his wife’s sudden strange behaviour. “Um, what I mean to say is that it will get cold.” She even threw in a small pleading pout for good measure, a pout that was not in Rob’s power to resist.

Edging away from the chest of drawers, he gave Jess a suspicious look before passing her and headed to the kitchen. Disregarding the fact that there was no coffee waiting for him, she let out a sigh of relief and then went to retrieve item before he came back and started questioning her mental state of mind. That’s what she got for having Rob for a husband.

The next day, after her husband had been successfully kidnapped by her brother, after she had “oh so subtly” tipped Douglas off to Rob having free time, Jess rummaged through her closet and found a box filled with mostly old clothing. What she was searching for, however, had been purposely hidden, seeing as how she felt she would never have any use to wear it.

She dug around and found a pair of lace underwear that had been a gag gift from Ruth at her bridal shower, they matched well with the nightgown, so she figured since she was going to do this, might as well go for it all the way.

oOo

Rob got home long after nightfall looking visibly tired and after grabbing a book and changing into some comfortable clothing; he relaxed in the living room. Jess brought him a glass of whatever and placed a quick kiss against his temple. “I’m going to take a shower.”

“I got reservations for dinner tomorrow while I was out.” He called after her retreating form. She rewarded him with a warm smile and nodded, then headed to the bathroom.

oOo

She scrutinized herself in the mirror after her shower and found herself pulling at the hem again. Taking a deep, shuddery, breath, she combed her fingers through her damp hair. “I can’t believe I’m actually doing this.” She muttered at her blushing reflection, then switched off the bathroom light and made a beeline for the living room.

She let out an exaggerated yawn in an attempt to distract his attention from the pages of his book and her blush deepened when she saw his eyes widen, considerably, at her state of dress.

oOo

Rob looked up, fully expecting to see his wife in her usual set of sweat pants and a tank top, but the breathe was nearly knocked out of him as he took in the sight of a temptress standing in the doorway. He loved seeing his soul mate in her normal clothes which always made her attractive.

oOo

She could have sworn that he stopped breathing, and the thought made her feel more daring. She stretched causing the gown to hitch up higher revealing the edges of black lace beneath.

“I just thought I’d come say goodnight before I went to bed, don’t stay up too late.” She tried to concentrate on something else to avoid his heated stare. Her eyes found their way to the digital clock on the bookshelf and smiled, it was midnight on the dot, how appropriate.

“Well, would you look at that; Happy Anniversary.” She said, smiling.
