X This is a story about Annie and Lucas from Home&Away X
Lucas sat in his room. Neither Matilda or his dad was at home and he was trying to finish a chapter of his book. He wasn’t sure if anyone would like it, but it was worth the risk. The worst thing that could happen was his story beeing rejected. The book was centered around a girl and a boy. They were in love, but there was an age difference about four years.
“Lucas?” he heard Matilda’s voice.
“Hey, Mattie!” he said. Matilda entered his bedroom and threw a look at his computer.
“What’re you doing?” she asked.
“Writing some chapters for my book.” he said.
“Can I read it?” she asked with pleading eyes.
“Sure” he said and handed her the pages he had already printed out.
He didn’t see her all afternoon, but in the evening she approched him.
“That was amazing, Luc!” she said and hugged him.
“Thanks” he said happily.
“It’s so fantastic how you can write about something like this, when you haven’t experienced it yourself.”
“Yeah, I have never experienced something like that” he said coolly, but his cheeks got a delicate pink color.
Mattie left and he was alone again. He thought of what she had said to him. She was sure he hadn’t been in a similar sitiuation, but she was wrong. She was so wrong! Everytime he worked on his book, a face popped up in his mind. A face with a shy smile and beautiful eyes. Annie Campbelle’s face wasn’t a face you forgot. He had tried so hard to forget about her. He knew she was too young for him, knew she had been trough hell and still grieved for her Pop. But he couldn’t help himself. The few times a week he tutored her, were the best times of his life. He tried so hard to let go of her, but she kept appearing in his dreams, in a way that made him want her even more.
“Now, class how many lines do a sonnet have?” Brad asked the class.
“Enough to make you fall asleep” Aden Jefferies said.
“Detention, Aden. Lucas?”
“14, Sir.” Lucas answered. He loved English classes, he understood everything and was better than everyone else.
“Good, Lucas. Well, for tomorrow you will write a sonnet. Class dismissed.” Brad said, giving Lucas a smile on his way out.
Lucas was wandering down the hall, when someone patted his back. He turned around and saw Geoff Campbell smiling at him.
“Hi, Lucas” he said in a happy voice.
“Hi, Geoff!” Lucas said and searched for Annie.
“How’s it going with your book?” Geoff asked.
“Good, where’s Annie?” Lucas said and tried not to sound too excited about seeing Annie.
“I’m right here” Annie said from behind him and Lucas’s face flushed a bit.
“Hello, Annie” he said as she walked up and stood beside Geoff.
“Hi, Lucas. How’s your day so far?”
“Good, I have to go.” He said. Stop it! You can’t feel or think that way about her!
“Bye, Lucas” Annie and Geoff said in unsunion.
“So, Holden, you’re hanging around with the religious geeks?” Aden said, before Lucas had time to leave.
“Yyeah, but they’re not religious geeks. They’re my friends!” Lucas said thrweing a dsigusted look at Aden.
“Ok, Holden. Why are you hanging around with them. They’re freaks!” Aden said in a mocking voice.
“No, they’re not. Come on, let’s go.” He said to Geoff and Annie, because it looked like Geoff was about to hit Aden.
“Just look how ugly she is!” Aden yelled and pointed to Annie.
“You take that back!” Lucas screamed in anger, completely losing his mind.
“She’s so ugly!”
“Shut up, Aden!” Lucas shouted.
“Who man would ever want you?” Aden scremaed at Annie, who had tears streaming down her face.
“You don’t know what the hell you’re talking about!” Lucas was screaming on the top of his lungs.
“Tell me one guy, who would want her!” Aden teased.
“I want her.!” The words were out of Lucas mouth before he coulds stop them. There was a surprised silence. Even Aden looked taken aback.
“Excuse me” Lucas murmured and left in a hurry.
He was sitting down on the beach, thinking. Just thinking. How could he have been so stupid? Why did he have to blurt out that he was in love with Annie Campbell?
“Lucas?” Matilda sat down beside him and wrapped an arm around his shoulders
“How could I be so stupid?” he whispered.
“Did you mean what you said. About Annie?” she asked in a soothing voice.
“Yeah, I did and I know it’s completely stupid, but I can’t help the way I feel.” he said in desperation.
“You don’t have to defend yourself, I get it and I also get what your book was about.” She said with a little laugh.
“Mhm, I wrote about her” Lucas said and sighed. “Now she hates me”
“She doesn’t hate you, Luc. She was shocked, yeah, but I reckon she feels the same wa. She couldn’t stop smiling afterwards”
“Really, what about Geoff?” Geoff’s reaction had also worried him, as he was a protective brother.
“He was just shocked, but he wasn’t angry” Mattie said and added “Just talk to her, Luc. Sort it out.” she said and hugged him. Then she got up and left.
Lucas wasn’t looking forward to see the class after his outburst in the hallway. He slowly opened the door to the classroom. The whole class except for Mattie and Geoff cheered. He avoided everyone’s eyes and just made his way to his seat.
“So you go for children, huh, Holden?” Aden said. “Especially the ugly ones” Both Lucas and Geoff go to their feet.
“Don’t you dare speak that way about her.” Lucas said and sat down, not meeting Geoff’s gaze.
“Holden’s standing up for his little kid.” Aden said in a sweet voice.
“Shut up, Aden.” This time it was Mattie’s time to speak “He has real feelings for her, that’s more than you’ve ever had for anyone” Lucas smiled at her, before turnings his back to Aden. Brad entered the classroom.
“Lucas, there’s someone outside, who want’s to see you.” he said and Lucas got up
“Annie!” Lucas exclaimed, looking down at the girl standing infront of him.
“Did you mean it?” she asked. He nodded and blushed.
“I did mean it.”
“You did? I thought you never could feel that way about me.” Annie whispered.
“The question is: Do you feel the same?” Lucas asked softly, fearing the answer.
“I do. I’ve liked you since I first met you. I just thought you looked at me like a little kid” she said quietly.
“How could you ever think that?” Lucas said and then he planted a kiss on her forhead and said: “Annie Campbell, would you like to be my girlfriend?”
“Yes, but aren’t you afraid what people are gonna say?” she asked him innocently.
“I’ve experienced worse” he said and kissed her softly on the lips. He heard cheering and saw the entire class, including Brad, watching them. Both Geoff and Matilda beamed at him and Lucas smiled back at them, before turning back to Annie.
“I love you, Annie.”
“I love you too, Lucas.”
X Hope you liked it X
