Hey all!! Okay, well, yeah...people were kinda confused, and I know, I know, it's still really confusing, but I'm hoping this chapter will help a little bit?? It's not really all that great, more of a filler, but I hope everyone kinda gets the sense of it more. Anyway, thanks for everyone that's reviewed so far!! I'm glad you've liked the idea :)
And again, it will all get better and more updatey worthy once I gain a little more trust on my computer...
So be ready for when that comes :)
REVIEW!!
Nick’s POV
I looked over at Mad – errr – Kevin. He – uhh – she…She, yeah, she looked really uncomfortable. It had been two years since her big change, and we have changed record labels, changed her hair, and changed our lives. Our names were known everywhere. Girls followed us, asked for our numbers, chased our tour bus down the street…cameras followed us everywhere. It was ridiculous. It was a fricken miracle that we covered her secret for this long!
But now, she looked uncomfortable. I hated to force her into this if she didn’t want it…but there didn’t seem to be a way to back out now! We couldn’t just…come out and say our brother was a girl…that would be kind of weird. But I can see her problem. If millions of teenage guys attacked me asking for kisses and hugs and dates…I’d be a little freaked out.
I watched her, absentmindedly signing my autograph on girls’ pieces of paper and hats and pictures they gave me. When I saw a girl run up to her, kiss her on the lips, turn around and scream, “I KISSED KEVIN JONAS!” I wanted to punch her. That sent her over the edge I think too.
Mad – umm… - Kevin ran from the table, into the small waiting kinda room in the back. Fans tried to push to get to her, all chatting nervously about why Kevin Jonas could have ran out of the back.
Big Rob of course new the secret by then, and he did his best to keep the crowd back, while pulling out the girl that had kissed her. I quickly finished writing on this girls phone before running back to see if Mads was okay.
She was sitting at the table, crying. I sat next to her and took her hands in mine. She looked up at me and tried to smile.
“Nick…” she looked down at our hands. I loved when she used her real voice, after hearing her practice Kevin’s for so long. “I’m so sorry. I’m truly sorry.”
“It’s okay,” I said. I slowly took off her wig and leg her blonde locks escape the fake hair. Then I took off the mask covering her perfect face. There were lines of sweat from where the wig and mask had cut off, but it looked beautiful.
There she was. My Maddie. I loved the times after photo shoots and concerts, when I could take off her disguise and stare at my one girl.
“That girl…she has no idea…and now look at me. I ran. I’m an idiot! Now there’re gonna be rumors…and it’s gonna be my fault…and the band will die…and…”
I shut her up with a kiss. Sometimes, that was the only way. The kiss turned into more…and before we knew it, we were on the table, in complete make-out mode. I never wanted to stop, and for a second I hated Joe for coughing.
“Hello, I’ve been here for like, ten minutes!” We finally stopped to breathe, looking at him. He no longer had a shirt on, and he had lipstick smeared all over his face. His hair was a mess and one of his shoes was missing.
“Never,” he said, looking at us, “leave me alone out there again.”
It was then that I realized what had happened. I started cracking up, and I couldn’t stop. Mads joined in, and Joe started to look more excited.
“They wouldn’t give me back!” he yelled, running off of our energy. “This one girl just grabbed me and yelled, “I’VE GOT JOE JONAS!” then they all started attacking! It was madness!”
“Where was Big Rob?” I asked, taking a breath from laughing.
“Yelling at the girl that kissed you!” he said, pointing to Maddie. “By the way, I’m sorry about that…Believe me, she’s getting it good…She’ll never try that again.”
“She shouldn’t have tried it in the first place,” I said, crossing my arms. “Only I’m allowed to kiss him or her or whoever she is!”
“Yeah, but they don’t know that,” Joe said, sighing and collapsing in a chair.
“True.” Maddie looked at me. “Nick, you know that didn’t mean anything, right? Even if I was a guy, it wouldn’t have meant anything.”
I understood…but I was still upset. Maddie was mine.
Just around then, Dad came in with a new shirt for Joe. He put it on thankfully. Then he laughed. “Good thing, they didn’t do it to you, Mad,” he said, cheerfully. “They might’ve been a little shocked when they took your shirt off.”
Maddie laughed, but I scowled. “Whatever is under Maddie’s shirt, is none of your business, Joseph Adam Jonas,” I replied, looking down.
“Cheer up,” he said, punching me in the shoulder. Then he picked up the mask and wig and threw them at my girl. “You’d better put this on. Interview in a few minutes.”
“Speaking of that,” Dad said. “They’re gonna ask you to do this show. Say no…but don’t make it obvious. I’ve done some research and they want to come into our house. And that obviously can’t happen.”
“Cool,” I said. We were used to it. We always had to cover up that stuff.
“Are you ready?” Joe asked with his best English accent, offering us his arm and leading us to the room. The interview went smoothly enough, and there were no questions asked when we denied doing the show. They seemed all right with it.
When we finally got to leave, we were once again followed by a million different girls out to our tour bus. One girl actually sheepishly brought us Joe’s shoe, asking us to sign it. Joe beat it out of there, let me tell you.
As soon as we got in the bus, Maddie ran to the bathroom. She came out in a small little cami and shorts, making my breath stop. It didn’t even matter that she still had Kevin’s face…she was gorgeous.
Joe, on the other hand, had to make some comment. “Where’s the camera when I need it? I could get at least a million for a picture of Kevin Jonas in girl clothing!” He set himself into hysterics.
“Oh shut up,” she yelled back, taking off the wig and throwing it at him.
She sat on my lap, and started to play with my hair. I kissed her, but she didn’t really seem to kiss back.
“What’s wrong, babe?” I asked, worried.
Her eyes started to tear, and she replied simply, “I’m the only girl in the world not to have a skirt.”
Of course it was ridiculous, but I understood. Girls were weird like that sometimes. Joe, on the other hand, had to start something. “What, so you’re crying? You’re also the only girl in the world that dresses up at a male superstar every day. I think it’s somebody’s time of mooooonnnnttth!”
It was my turn to hurt him. I grabbed his foot, which was dangling from the bunk above mine, and I pulled him to the ground. It wasn’t far enough up to seriously hurt him, but I could tell that he would be bruised for a while.
“Was that necessary?” he asked me.
“Yes,” I said. “Now go away.”
He walked away into the bathroom grudgingly leaving me alone with Mads. “Do you want me to buy you a skirt, honey?”
“No,” she said, sniffling. “Joe’s right. I don’t need one. And it is my time of month.”
I winced, thinking about how terrible that would be…bleeding…a lot…but I kept that to myself. I hugged her closely and whispered in her ear, “How about this? I take you out…as Maddie. Not as Kevin – not as anybody buy you.”
She pulled away and looked at my stunned. “Really? But – but what about everyone? They’ll recognize you…and then wonder who I am…”
“I’ll handle it. Now where do you wanna go?”
“I don’t care…” she said, but I knew exactly where. Waterlillies, her favorite Chinese restaurant back in New Jersey. That had always been her favorite place to eat. And thank God we were in New Jersey now anyway.
“I’ll make the plans. Tomorrow, you don’t get dressed as Kevin, okay? Get dressed as Maddie…and I’ll get you a skirt.”
She kissed me, long and hard. My only problem now would be dealing with the world.
