Chapter 4 - Discussing the Past
Mizu shook her head and closed her placed his hand on her shoulder worriedly, "Mizu?"
Mizu opened her eyes and looked at him, "Sorry... but I'm not hungry..." She left the kitchen. Kurama looked at her worried but sighed and stood up.
'I wonder what happened in her past. Could she have known Yoko...but if that's true...how did she know him. She's only human.' Kurama mentally noted curiously but worry was there too. Mizu leaned against the door of her adoptive-bedroom and sighed. Her head was spinning, lurching from side to side. She felt slightly sick and dizzy. Kurama hesitated but went to check on her. He walked up the stairs and to her bed room. He gave a small knock on the door, "Mizu, are you okay?" Mizu backed away from the door, "Don't come in." She said softly and turned her back to the door. Kurama sighed, "Just be careful okay? Come get me if anytihngs wrong or you need something." he said through the door. He frowned before heading back downstairs.
Awhile later, Mizu went downstairs, she noticed that Kurama was still here, "Don't you have school or something?" She didn't particulilarily want to ask him what was on her mind. Kurama blinked and looked at the clock, "Oh, I didn't notice." he shrugged and looked back up at her, "Feeling better?" Mizu frowned, noticing this, normally she'd thought students like him wouldn't miss school at all, even if they were on their death bed. She'd seen the multiple awards in the hall. She nodded, "Yeah. I'm fine."
"Is something wrong?" Kurama probed. Mizu looked at him, "Do you know this person Yoko? You asked about him... but I don't remember anything more." She was lying about the last part, but she didn't know he'd overheard her. Kurama hesitated, "The name rings a bell. Why?" kurama asked. "Because I think he can tell me more about... myself." Mizu said. Kurmaa nodded a little hesitant to tell her who Yoko was. Mizu stared at his eyes, watching for emotion or recognition that would give him away, "Do you know him?"
Jessy crossed her arms as she continued to follow the detective, "Where are we going Yusuke?" she finally asked. "I'm hungry." Yusuke said. Jessy shook her head, "And where do you plan to get food? Don't tell me your going back to Kurama's?"
"No." Yusuke said rolling his eyes, "We're going out to eat. That is if you want to go too. Or would you rather sit in school for seven hours?"
Jessy huffed, "I'm coming, I'm coming."
Jessy blinked and followed after him, "Geez, and here I thought you only liked fast food." she joked with a small giggle.
"Whatver." Yusuke shott back, rolling his eyes. Jessy smirked and kissed his cheek, "Aw comne on, don't act like that. You know I love you right?" she asked with a 'innocent' smile. "Yeah, yeah." Yusuke said waving his hand but he was blushing a little. A waitress came over and asked for their orders.
Jessy ordered some rice and a soda which wasn't much if anything compared to what she'd normally get. She normally got almost as much food as Yusuke.
Yusuke ordered his normal amount of food; basically the entire menue minus drinks. Jessy gave a small laugh, "Where do you put it all?" she asked eyeing all the food as it came. Yusuke shrugged, "In my stomache like everyone else, duh!" Jessy hit her forehead with the palm of her hand.
Kurama finally nodded, "Yes." "How?" Mizu asked, another bit of memory flashing into her mind, fox ears and a tail. Kurama wasn't sure how to answer this time. Well, he wasdn't sure how to answer without telling her the truth. He frowned as his mind franticly tried to come up with something. While Kurama struggled bits and pices of Mizu's memory came together. In her mind's eye she was roses, thorns, a whip, plants with teeth.
Kurama finally gave up and looked at her without answering her question. Mizu snapped out of it and looked at him, "Well?" Kurama blinked, "He's an old friend." he stated.
"Oh." Mizu stated, a strange shiver ran up her spine, it was a familiar sensation, which only confused her more. Talking about this person Yoko... frightened her and excited her at the same time. Kurama raised his eye brow, "Are you okay?" Mizu nodded mutely, she felt strange and regreted bringing it up slightly, "Sh-shouldn't yo uget to school?" She asked for a subject change.
Yusuke frowned at her as he swallowed another mouthful, "Hey, Jess. You ok?" Jessy gave a small jump and looke dat Yusuke, "Oh, um...what?" she asked confused. Thus prooving that her mind had drifted off to a deeper thought. "Are you allright?" Yusuke repeated, taking a large gulp of his drink, "You were spacing." He blinked and looked confused for a moment, startled by his strange need for insight. Jessy shook her head, "I'm fine, Yusuke. Really..." her lie trailed off as her eyes drew distant again.
Yusuke frowned, finished his food, payed and got up, "Ready to go?" He asked. Jessy blinked but nodded and stood up, "Um, sure..." she mumbled quietly. Yusuke sighed and left the resturaunt.
Kurama glanced at the clock then shook his hea,d "I'm almost 2 hours late now."
Mizu didn't reply and decided a direct way to get out of the conversation, she headed out to the door and walked out.
