Summary: To me she came, from me she ran. Gibbs's POV.
Author's Notes: I wrote this little fic this morning (at about 8am) in the staffroom at school. :P Pretty random, I know, but I had nothing else to do and I got a splat ;D It's pretty much just a free-write type thing, I wrote whatever came to my head. So here goes. . .

To me she came, from me she ran. That day in Paris, when she ran. Left me alone, helpless. She bought joy. She gave me hope. She gave me pleasure, though her company and presence. But then she ran. Away. Fear took over her. She was not/is not one to scare easily, so why did she run? Practicality, that's why she ran. She's practical. Impulsive too. Her choice was made. She decided to run. Run from the thought of danger. Run from commitment? No matter the reason, she ran nevertheless.

Back to me she came, six years later. She was back. In full force. Ready; willing; able. She was here again. Wounds from the past, still not fully healed. Adventures in Cairo, none as enchanting as that of our adventures in Paris, at least I hope this is the case. On some level I think her heart is lost, it's wounded. Wounded by what? I wonder.

She obsessed over him, it ran through her veins. Chasing him, revenge took her over and transformed into obsession. Was it about getting him for illegal arms dealing? Maybe that was a small part of it. Jenny Shepard is loyal to her job, after all. However this was more personal than professional. From the start it was, then it became her obsession, her driving force, her only goal was to avenge her father's death. She could not let this go. She was caught up right in the middle, she brought us into it also, she allowed her obsession to branch out into our lives. I think about it and it seems to be irrational, but then, isn't obsession anything other than an irrational drive to get revenge on whoever is involved? It was in her case. Thinking about her motivation, I would have done the same thing. I trained her to be like me, to catch them however I could. To do what needed to be done. Not to let it pass.

Was she capable of putting a bullet through his head? Definitely. Did she do it? That I shall never fully understand. Obsession does crazy things to people. It engulfed her. It was her motivation. she seemed oddly satisfied once she heard of his death and after she heard she was cleared. Perhaps just knowing her nemesis was dead, though officially from his own hand, was enough? However it was stated, Jenny got her revenge on some level, or she would still be chasing it.

She has left me again, is she running away like the first time? Is she afraid of further repercussions of her irrational actions? No one can be sure of why she has done this, but she has.

Even though she has run away before, one thing I have learnt about Jenny Shepard is that sooner or later, she returns to me.

FIN.
