Chandler paused.
" What can we do?" Ross choked out.
"You just messed this up! He must know other people know now! Thanks!"
" Chandler... Calm down," Rachel insisted. "There's got to be something we can do!"
" We need to talk," Ross growled, tugging Chandler away. " As Monica's older brother, I'm going insane over this... How could this happen?!"
" I don't know! One minute I'm happy, the next I'm caught between life and death!" Chandler screamed back.
The others heard his raised voice, and watched intently as the scene unfolded.
" You're her boyfriend, you're here to protect her!" Ross cried.
" How can I protect her when if I dare to, she'll suffer?" He asked quietly.
The anger that had burned seconds earlier washed away, and was replaced with pain.
Ross opened his mouth to speak, but found himself speechless.
" We'll get by," Phoebe sighed.
" No. Getting by, is just ... paying the rent late! It's nothing like this! What if she dies?!"
" My point... I can't let my sister die," Ross insisted.
" She dies, I die," Chandler admitted, snatching his cell phone and slamming the door.
--
Chandler's cell phone buzzed, sounding a new text message.
What more does he want?!
He opened his inbox, and pulled open the message.
I have her.
The three words stung his heart.
" God... No..."
Tears slid down his hot cheeks.
He slowly clicked the message away.
I need to find her... No matter what...
He stood up from the floor, where he was crouched up against.
" She must've left some sort of clue... Somewhere..." He murmured to himself.
His legs felt stiff as he walked down the busy streets.
" God..."
His head scanned every direction.
I don't even know what I'm looking for...
He yawned.
He was exhausted, due to lack of sleep.
" I need to find her..."
He pulled out his cell phone, and found the previous message, and clicked "Reply."
Give her the hell back...
He clicked send.
--
Monica slowly opened her eyes.
Her head pounded.
She rose her hand to her warm forehead, to find thick blood dripping from a deep gash.
" Ow!"
" Ah, shut up!" A dark voice ordered. " Anyone finds you, you're lover's dead. But, I wouldn't worry too much about being found."
" Who are you?!" She called shakily.
" Heh... Better question. Are you going to behave, and do this the easy way?"
She looked around.
It was pitch black, but could sense the unknown was close by.
She ignored his question. " Where's Chandler?"
" That wimp? Who honestly cares? He's plain stupid... He actually protected you," The voice scoffed.
" Protected?" Monica asked slowly.
" Ohh... Right. He couldn't tell you..." He mused evilly. " Everything... All the pain... The fire... He replaced you. Stupid wimp. If he was smart, he would've walked away, and watched you suffer. Any strong man would."
" You sicken me!" Monica growled, reaching forward, toward the darkness.
" Oh, don't worry... You'll have plenty of time to warm up to me," He cackled.
" I don't think so!"
" But I do."
" Well, I Don't!"
She grabbed at a metal bar.
He has me in a cage?!
She thought.
Her mind was whirling with different emotions- Anger, pity, worry, fright... Even despair.
But yet, she vaguely remembered a distant dream...
Monica walked down the street.
Chandler had disappeared hours earlier, and she was on her way home from searching for him.
The sun had set hours earlier, as the only light was from the shimmering stars and bright moon.
Her mind wandered, and felt herself being jumped.
" Hey!" She cried in alarm, getting knocked down,by a burly man, dressed in black.
The silver necklace around her neck broke off her body, falling into a small, evergreen coloured shrub.
As the man easily gagged her and hauled her onto his back, she bit his thick, bony fingers.
He slapped her across the face with a sharp object, resulting in blood quickly dripping from a deep wound running across her forehead.
A while later, as the blood continued flowing down her face, she slid off her Promise Ring from Chandler.
She wiped her blood on it, then allowed it to drop beside a small, pink pebble.
While trekking through a dense piece of forest, she dropped her final possession- Her I.D.
Luckily, the attacker hadn't noticed her drop anything, and continued dragging her through the woods.
He finally came to a halt, and reached behind her neck, finding her pressure point.
He squeezed it roughly, causing her to black out.
Monica snapped herself from her thoughts.
"Hello?!" She demanded.
" I'll be back in the morning," The voice replied, followed by a slamming door.
She tried slipping off Chandler's Promise Ring, to no avail.
" It was no dream... It was real..." She muttered to herself.
A thought still haunted her mind- What if Chandler was in greater danger then herself?
--
Chandler sighed.
It was impossible to sleep.
He sat upon his couch, the others with him.
They refused to sleep too, as they were worried about their captured friend.
" Chandler?" Rachel whispered, shifting closer to him.
His head was resting in his hands, dark circles under his blue eyes.
He grunted in reply.
He had discontinued speaking, talking to Joey the most.
" You should get some sleep..." Phoebe put in, but watched as he didn't move.
" No."
Joey sighed. " Dude... You haven't slept for days..."
" I don't care... I want her back... It's my fault this happened!"
Ross knew Chandler was going insane.
Not literally, but he understood how he felt.
Helpless.
Cold.
Alone.
" Look... How about we at-least get some coffee?" Ross added hopefully.
" Yeah! Please, Chandler?" Rachel agreed.
" I guess..."
He had to give in to one of their attempts.
After drinking their usual orders, Chandler sighed.
Phoebe had fell asleep minutes before, but the others were too exhausted to will her up.
" Guys... Go home. Rest," Chandler offered. " Don't suffer because of me."
Joey shook his head. " We'll sleep if we want to. We don't want to."
Chandler sighed heavily.
Suddenly, Phoebe began calling out in her slumber...
" Chandler! Right there!"
Chandler quickly sat up, watching his friend.
Rachel shook her awake." Chandler... I think I just had a vision!" She grinned excitedly.
" What?"
" I had a dream... Monica dropped a clue! And I know where!"
Chandler stood up. " Let's go!"
" Wait," Ross cried. " It's one AM. People like Monica's captor's will be out by now. They're most likely waiting to kill you!"
" I don't care!" Chandler said loudly.
" I think Ross is right," Rachel admitted. " Nothing can happen to you. What'll happen if you get hurt, and Mon returns?"
Chandler emitted a sigh. " Fine. We go out at sunrise?"
Ross nodded. " Once the first rays hit the ground."
--
Chandler bounced outside.
Dawn finally arrived, and Chandler was going crazy.
Phoebe led the way.
" In my dream... We went down here."
The gang followed as she guided them through an hour of alleys, until stopping abruptly at a smaller one.
" This is it... The exact alley from my dream," She whispered.
All eyes were scanning the small lane.
Dull coloured gravel made the pathway.
A few, small bushes grew alongside the alley, with gang logos and names spray-painted on any spare inch of cement wall.
" I don't see anything..." Joey finally confessed.
Chandler's face dropped in depression.
" You're looking in the wrong places," Phoebe began. " The clue... The clue was in something..."
Rachel bent over the smallest bush, noticing the blood-stained rocks.
"Oh my god..." She choked out.
Chandler dashed over, as Rachel revealed many stained gravel pieces.
Chandler's hand dug into the shrub, and pulled out a snapped, silver chain necklace.
" This is her's!" Joey couldn't help but grin proudly.
" This was the clue," Phoebe smiled in satisfaction.
Chandler barreled into her, hugging her tightly. " Thank you... So much."
She nodded. " That's what I am here for. Having physic visions."
Blood caked part of the chain.
" We'll find her," Rachel whispered. " I'm sure of it now."
" Look!" Joey was crouching over the ground, several feet away. " It looks like there's a trail of blood!"
The others looked it over.
Chandler nodded.
" I'm following it," He decided, removing a small, grey pocket-knife from his pocket.
" Then so are we," Joey and Ross insisted.
They began to follow Chandler down the path of bloody gravel.
" This is between me, Mon, and him... Whoever he may be. I'm not putting any of you in further danger. Turn around, and go home," Chandler replied darkly.
" What if you die?! Huh? What then?!" Joey rose his voice.
" Then you live on. I'm not saying forget, but move on."
" Chandler, I want you to think about what you just said," Ross huffed. " Could you simply move on from Monica, if she dies?"
He looked away, then shook his head.
" Exactly. We're coming," Joey assured him.
" No. Please. I promise... I'll come back. Just go home," Chandler pleaded.
Rachel sighed, then embraced him. " I know you'll come back."
Phoebe took her turn hugging her friend. " Good luck..."
Joey and Ross hugged him, then took his aside.
" You sure about this?" Joey wondered uneasily.
Chandler nodded. " If I can't save her, I'll die trying."
" But, you promised!" Joey whined.
Chandler sighed. " I'll try my best."
Then he walked out of sight, leaving his best friends to worry.
--
Chandler kept his eyes glued to the ground.
He'd been following the blood trail for hours already.
He glanced up at the boiling sun.
It was high in the clear, blue sky, pointing out Noon.
I'll kill this guy once I find him...
Suddenly, he flew forward.
"Ah!"
He picked himself up, noticing the pink pebble he'd tripped on.
He found himself oddly attracted to the shiny object lying beside it.
" It's our promise ring... She hoped I would find it," He murmured to himself, picking away the dried blood, which was cracking the metal.
He continued on, hoping against hope Monica's heart still beated.
An hour later, the trail ended, leading into a thick forest.
These guys weren't too careful.
Chandler observed, staring at the bloodied marks on tree trunks and such.
Or maybe they're planning this... Either that or they're REALLY stupid!
Chandler kept walking, finding her I.D. Badge.
" I'm getting closer, Mon... Please stay with me..."
Just then, he looked up as a black crow swooped above him.
He spotted a stone building in the distance, realizing where his girlfriend was being held hostage.
He rushed towards it, forgetting to breathe.
His legs felt like rubber as he rocketed towards the structure, his lungs begging for oxygen.
He eventually reached his destination, to find no entrance.
A note was nailed to a wooden plank.
Chandler realized a small portion of the building was made of old, rotting oak wood.
Another gasoline jug sat beside the note.
" Oh no..."
I knew you would arrive. Unfortunately, you're much too late- Or are you not? To get inside, you must set this wood o fire with gasoline... But, before you decide to be a hero, or die trying to be one, take a look at the roof. This is your final warning- Turn around now.
Chandler glanced up at the roof, as the note mentioned.
Wood. It's made of wood... Meaning, when I set this on fire... The entire roof will spread it, and Monica will be in danger,too...
He knew he would have to get inside.
No matter what risk he had to take, he loved Monica more.
" Please... Keep her safe."
He picked up the gasoline jug, and smothered the wooden planks, held out the burning match- And dropped it.
--
The fire moved quickly through the building.
Stones were already melting from the extreme heat.
Chandler raced through hallways.
This guy must be guarding Mon...
Chandler looked through a shattered window.
MON!
She was sitting behind a huge man dressed in black.
Chandler crashed through the thin door.
" Chandler?!" Monica cried in disbelief.
She was tied to a chair, but struggled herself free.
" GET THE HELL AWAY FROM HER!" Chandler screamed, banging into the man's chest with his pocket-knife.
The man pinned Chandler, grabbing his throat and squeezing, hard.
" Who... Are... You?" He gasped.
" Nobody you know..." The man replied, removing his mask.
He had short black hair, brown eyes, and had a nasty glare.
Blood stained the man's shirt, while the roof burned above the trio.
Soon, wooden rafters began breaking away from the ceiling, crashing down.
" We need to escape!"Monica cried.
Chandler abandoned his opponent, sealing the door shut with a burning splinter, and took Monica by the hand.
They hurriedly escaped the building, racing away, far into the distance.
Chandler stopped his frantic running to take a final look back.
The building was already smokey rubble.
" He didn't get out," Monica gave him a small smile.
" That's good... For us," Chandler whispered, pulling her into a soft kiss.
The End!

How'd you like it?
Was it exciting enough?
