SWEET DREAMS
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
Psalm 23: 4
Jedidiah quickly turned around frighten by the voice he heard. He sees keys being tossed in the air and reacts by catching them in his hands.
Casting her shadow on the floor, he sees a girl walking. He notices that it is Lily with her arms crossed. "I wonder how you were going to get to your room without your keys. How stupid can you be?" She says playfully.
Jedidiah just stared at her with a little smile and they both entered the elevator. She leaned against the wall and rested her hands on the railing, liked she did before. Jedidiah inserted the keys to his room into the key slot and leaned against the wall right next to her. Then the elevator doors closed and went up. Jedidiah remembered that he had forgotten to finish his apology to Lily earlier. "Lily..." silence was broken,
"Yes?" She replied.
"I’m sorry I crashed into you earlier and embarrassed you in front of everybody. You probably want to shut me down right about now. And I don’t blame you really."
"Oh, you didn’t embarrass me." She said happily and blamelessly.
"Really?" He said with a confused look on his eyes. "…You weren’t embarrassed?"
"No!" she said sarcastically, "I was more humiliated than embarrassed!"
Jedidiah caught the sarcasm in her tone of voice. Thinking that she was still angry about what had happen. Who wouldn’t?
Lily chuckles, "Jay I’m kidding, I was pretty embarrassed, but one of my girl-friends wondered who you were. Good first impression by the way!"
Lily’s mercy that Devon had explained was true and Jedidiah felt comfortable. The elevator was filled with silence and had a awkward feeling, until Lily spoke,
"Daddy told me what happened between you and him; it sounded like really you ticked him off."
Jedidiah just looked down showing no emotion whatsoever, for he knew what had happened and it disturbed him greatly. Lily looked at him and noticed that what happened between them troubled him. "Then you know your father doesn’t trust me talking to you." He said depressed.
Well... are you still staying in your room?" she asked out of curiosity
He shook his head, "No, I’m just getting my stuff and I’m going to stay with Devon."
"Oh…" She said unhappily. "What if I told you can keep your room, will you still stay?"
Jedidiah looked at her suspiciously, "What are you saying? I can’t stay; your Father wouldn’t allow it."
"I talked to Daddy and asked him to give you a second chance. After a long talk, he agreed and gave me the keys to give back to you."
A second chance? "Thanks, but no thanks." He declined. "It wouldn’t make sense for me to stay knowing that Mr. Harwick is holding a grudge against me." He looked out the glass and sighed, "I might also consider leaving Creston."
"Okay, that’s going a little too far." Lily commented
Lily got up quickly from where she was and stood in front of him, grabbing and pulling both of his wrists and staring into his green eyes, begging him to stay.
"Ouch! What are you doing?" He asked.
"Please stay!" she begged.
"What…Why?" Jedidiah was confused. He didn’t understand why she wanted him around, but when he looked into her blue eyes he could tell she was playfully desperate... for some odd reason. To avoid making her angry, which was the last thing he will ever do, he agreed to stay for her sake.
"Because if you don’t..." She started to twist his wrist.
"OKAY, OKAY!" He shouted, from the pain in his wrist. He quickly pulled away; "...ow!" he complained.
For the rest of the time they were on the elevator, they talked about Lily’s date to the movies with Craig and watching a comedy based on street thugs and clowns. She talked about another date taking place this weekend, going to watch a horror film called The Mark at the Silverstone Plaza, which was located outside of the campus.
"Craig and I are going to see 'The Mark' on Saturday; do you want to join us?" Lily asked.
"Who’s Craig?" He asked.
"He’s my boyfriend."
He had never been to the movies before; he thought it would be good chance for him to get around, but he still felt weird about her father not trusting him, he declines again. "Thanks, but I can’t." he said unhappily.
Just as he said that, the elevator bell sounded and slowly stopped and then the doors swung open. They walked along the carpets leading to their rooms and stopped at the middle before they went to their rooms.
"If it’s about Daddy, then you should go speak with him yourself, just stop thinking about it, you’re overreacting, but if you change your mind, let me know, okay?" She says playfully.
"…" Jedidiah remained quiet, pondering about what she said and knew that she was right.
"Okay then, be lthat way!" She snapped with an attitude, "It's getting late anyway, Goodnight Jay."
As she walked in her room, he thought about himself and his attitude. "Maybe I am overreacting." He thought. Then he entered his own room, undresses and puts on a navy blue t-shirt with navy blue sweatpants. He unfolded the blanket and laid it on the bed, but before he went to sleep he quoted the Lords Prayer.
"Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, And forgive us for our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil." As he finishes quoting the prayer he continues to pray for other things.
"Lord, you have brought me here to this place for a reason; I pray that you will use me to spread your word of love to other people, though I am a weak vessel, I know that if you are with me I can overcome. Mr. Harwick has an problem with me; though he lost his faith in you, deep down in his heart he knows that there is a God, and only one God. Lord may you use me to send your word of life to him so that he may be accepted into your kingdom once again. Let him see that his wife didn’t die, but only just started a new life with you. I also lift up my brother Devon, and my sister Lily that you will use me to preach your word to them, so that they too may be accepted into your kingdom as well. Blessed be your name Father, Amen."
As he finishes his prayer he gets into his bed and covers himself with the blanket while lying down on the pillow, and slowly falls to sleep. All that he prayed for, he left up to God...
...Somewhere in a distant street...
Jedidiah walked through an empty street crowded with buildings tall and short; there were no cars, no people…nothing. The sky was matched the color of his black cloths; black jacket, black jeans, and black boots with a metallic sole that attached to the bottom of his shoe.
He continued walking along the street walking for hours. It went from day to night, until he realized the street was endless.
"What’s going on here?" he said to himself and stutters in fear. "W-What is this place?"
He looked up at one of the tall buildings and saw the hooded man he had seen in the class room outside of the window. "It’s you." He mutters under his breath, as he runs toward the building.
"Welcome Jedidiah, child of the most high God!" The hooded man shouts out in a heavyset voice, "You have a calling, Beloved one. A calling that requires you to be in total submission to the creator, in which you must draw yourself closer to Him, to be renewed in both mind and spirit. Be warned, you will suffer severely. The walk you have with Christ will be far different from other believers."
"What do you mean?" Jedidiah asked, "What transformation?"
But his question was ignored, "When this trail is over, you will be transformed. Your new transformation will allow you to do things beyond human comprehension. Do not think that it is impossible, however, for it is written that all things are possible for those that believe in the Lord. So, Beloved one, brace yourself!"
Jedidiah shouts back asking, "Who are you? And what is this place... and brace myself for what?"
The man pointed to his right. "Something is coming."
"What's coming?" Jedidiah looks in the distance down the street toward where the man was pointing…but sees nothing. He turns back and looks at the hooded man. "Is this a game to you? What are you trying to show me?" He shouts angrily. "I can’t see anything."
"Look closely, Shadow creatures approaching!" He demanded.
Jedidiah sighs; he doesn’t understand what he’s doing, but he obeys the man’s command. He looks out in the distance focusing hard; without noticing, his green eyes shined brightly and he started to see hundreds of miles away from where he was.
He saw an eight foot tall creature all in black; the head had a pair of horns coming straight out of his forehead with yellow eyes and its pupil shaped horizontally like a cat. The body was extremely muscular and disfigured and his back had several long sharp spikes running down its spine. The right arm was much larger and longer than its left and the hands were three times the size of a humans hand with barbed nails at the end of each finger tip. The legs were also muscular with sharp spikes going down from its hips to its knees; the feet were two feet long with sharp curled toenails.
The creature ran along the street at supersonic speed leaving a trail mark behind it. He headed toward where Jedidiah stood.
Jedidiah became fearful as he saw the creature; he stood petrified for a moment, and looked back at the hooded man. "There is a huge creature coming this way!" He shouted.
The hooded man spoke his last words to him. "May the Lord protect you, guide you, and may you have victory over your enemies." The man vanished into thin air, but continued speaking in an echo. "Remember, you can do all things in Christ Jesus, for he is the one who gives us strength."
"WHAT?!" Jedidiah yelled scared, nervous and anxious, "I have to fight?! I-I can't fight, I don't even know how to. Why is you leaving me here?! I can’t do this on my own-!"
Jedidiah continued to yell, but as soon as he finish the creature stood tall behind him. Jedidiah saw the shadow of the Demon covering him.
He slowly turned around; he looked at the atrocious monster eye to eye. Suddenly Jedidiah felt a incredible mass of fear and hate, though, the reason remained unknown. There was silence for a second… then the monster growled furiously and swung blinding at Jedidiah with its enormous right arm, smacking him off his feet and into the air.
Pain! Pain!! ...He felt Pain!!
Jedidiah soared like a bullet several yards away across the street smashing head first into one of the buildings. It was a feeling like one-hundred thunder bolts striking his nerves as his small body smashed into the wall, breaking the interior of the building and everything crumbled.
He layed there in shock, his vision disappeared and couldn't even find the strength to cry his own pain. The muscles in his upper body were paralyzed and inert. His mind was functional, thinking of the horror and how gruesome this beast is. It seemed that the creature isn't anywhere near human. The strength it took to take him off his feet probably was over the power of a thousand men.
Jedidiah felt his feet being clutched. The creature swiftly pulled him out from under the rubble, throwing his body repeatedly against the ground. With each smash, the ground became a crater and enlarged with pieces of blood dripping from Jedidiah's mouth. He was close to unconsciousness. His body felt batter, yet, he was still alive. Was he in hell?
The creature released him in the air, a hundred miles over. "Why is this happening to me?" He asked himself, his thoughts going out of control, "What have I done to deserve this torment? Have I sinned a great sin? Did God reject me?" Doubt became his reality.
Jedidiah land into another building, smashing through the roof and down to the floor. It was too much. The pain was too much for him to take. As piles of the roof fell on top of him, could hear the beast roar echo loudly into the atmosphere. Jedidiah knew the creature wasn't finished, he simply wanted to just die.
Then suddenly, Jedidiah inhaled deeply and his eyes shot open. A force of life flowed from within his lungs and out his mouth at that moment. He could feel both his arms and legs again and he eyes became clear. He felt no weight of the large pieces of rubble that layed on his body and the pain he felt had vanished completely. What was going on?
He slowly gets up from the rubble, pushing the pieces of the building aside to get free; his cloths became dirty from the rubble, his jacket was partly ripped open on the back and his pants were shredded at the hems bottom. After he had gotten up, he became less afraid and greatly confused, he looked at himself and saw that his cloths were torn and dirty, but he bled no more and felt no bruises. He also noticed that he was able to move the building pieces with ease.
"…What’s …going on?" he whispered to himself.
The Demon jumped in the air at incredible heights then landed behind Jedidiah. Jedidiah didn’t notice the monster behind him; he was too focused on himself. The monster raised his left hand and clawed him in the back making three large scars which tore through his clothes.
Jedidiah screamed loudly limping over slightly, and quickly retaliated turning himself around to face the beast, but the beast violently kicked in the chest and flew back out into the street leaving a small crater on the floor.
The Demon ran to his feet, grabbing his both of his legs and swung him, smashing his body against the concrete floor repeatedly, leaving several craters on the ground, until finally the monster spun in a semi-circle then releasing him, sending his body a half a mile away in the air.
Jedidiah flew in air feeling pain, and bled from his lip. His fear turned into anger then finally he stood dauntless and his anger turned into rage. While in mid-air he flipped backward on his feet, landing on the ground with the metallic sole on the bottom of his shoe, causing a small fault line along the street as he skid.
His eyes glowed as he sees the beast coming from the distance running a blinding speed, and then set back in a fighting stance, raised his arm while making a fist, waiting for the opportune moment to strike.
Just when the monster was close enough, "RAAH!" Jedidiah swung at supernatural speed punching the face of the beast. The monsters head erupted off of its body and into the air then landed on the ground, yards away from where they were.
The headless monster swaggered around till it fell down on its knees, then on its face. The fallen monster instantly turned into ashes and vanished into thin air.
Jedidiah had vanquished the monster, but stood there wondering if it was dead. He looked at his knuckles and saw no scars from punching through the creature’s shredding skin; it seemed that his skin was indestructible against all things, and his strength was matchless even for something as fierce as such a creature. He stood tall and saw that monster was nowhere to be found and that it had disappeared.
"What just happened?" he asked himself. "…Did I win?" He realized that he defeated the monster. He grinned, and then smiled, and then he started to laugh. He jumped cheerfully and rejoiced for his victory. "This is great!" he laughed aloud.
Then suddenly he heard more loud growls, he stopped laughing and quickly stood on guard, looking around. He saw that there were a dozen more monsters similar to the one he fought, standing on the building roofs looking down at Jedidiah. Unlike the first creature, these were equipped with weapons of war. Jedidiah looked at the weapons, and his eyes widened and stood fearful, not knowing what to do.
The creature jumped at him, attacking him with weapons, surrounding him. One monster swung at him with huge scythe at supersonic speed. Jedidiah matched his speed ducking under it and countered with a thunderous blow to the stomach, causing the beast to vanish into ashes that blew away from the hit.
As soon as that happened Jedidiah was struck in the back by one of the monsters holding a mace, but he retaliated with a tuck-in-roll facing the monster. Then two of the monsters grabbed both of his arms pinning him down so he could not attack.
Another Demon raised his scythe ready to strike, but before that occurred, Jedidiah jumped forcefully in the air, breaking free from the grip of the other Demons. As soon as that happened the two monsters were cut in half with the scythe and disappeared. Jedidiah stood aloft in the air, discovering something new.
"I CAN FL-" He shouts, just as he gets knocked down by one of the Demons that jumped off a building tackling him down to the ground.
Jedidiah hit the floor hard. With the monster on top of him, he kicks it off with right foot, throwing ti off to a far distance away from him. He flips back on his feet, and sets himself into a fighting stance then attacks taking out the other eight Demons with bare fists.
After a long hour of battle destroying all the other creatures, he became very familiar with fighting with the supernatural. While Jedidiah rested on one knee in the middle of the street he noticed that the area buildings were in ruins, rubble was every where, and the streets were filled with craters. His jacket had an extended amount of holes, more than before, and his white shirt was torn and stained with dust, and his pants were all torn from the waist down. He remained untouched by scars and bruises, but stained with only dirt on his face and his hands.
He got up slowly and looked around, seeing the destruction he’d cause. He saw the hooded man again, on the crest of a tall building walking along the edges; it seemed that he didn’t notice Jedidiah in the distance, so Jedidiah took advantage and flew at eye blinking speed and stood right in front of the hooded man crossing his arms.
"Where are you going?" Jedidiah said mordantly.
The man stops walking, and chuckles, "I applaud you on your skill and cunningness young warrior. You caught on, quite well. You should be happy."
Jedidiah became aggravated. "What was THAT for? I was caught off guard, had the crud beaten out of me, AND I got scared to death just looking at those creatures."
"Yet, still here you are standing in front of me…Right?"
Jedidiah felt idiotic from his whining, "…Yeah, but that’s not the point."
The man felt entertained and laughs happily. "Here, take this as a token of your victory."
He felt something appear in his hand. He looked down at his left hand and saw that he was holding a scabbard with a long sword inside. He held it with both hands observing it; the sheath was light brown leather with a gold tip and the end, the sword itself was locked by a clip with a leather strap stretching from one side of the sheath going over the handle to the other side.
The handle was made of rich gold with the ends curving out. Jedidiah uncapped the strap and unsheathed the blade. The doubled edged blade was three and a half feet long including the handle, the width of the sword was four inches.
The sword was light; Jedidiah swung it a few times, he was able to move it without any difficulty, in seconds he gained over five hundreds years of knowledge in the field of sword play.
The man touched his shoulder. "From this night you have been blessed. Any believer can do what you do. Although many are wicked and have their hearts placed in the wrong hands, they don't have a strong relationship with the father. It is written that all are called, but few are chosen. Continue to be a light unto the world, shining in the darkness. Do not doubt and do not fear, because even when you can't win the battle, pursue, and God will hold your victory in the end."
His words echoed in Jedidiah's mind. It soon faded as he hears the sound of knocking.
...Morning...
"Wake up Jay; you’re going to be late for class." Lily remarks standing outside the door. "You have to start going to bed early. No parties after 10 o'clock, alright Jay?"
A dream...simply a dream. Jedidiah awoke with nothing else on his mind besides what he had seen and experienced in his dream. But if it was a dream then why did he feel pain? Jedidiah jumped from his bed and ran to look at himself in the mirror. ...Nothing different, he looked the same. No scars, no bruises or even dirt on his face.
What was that? He thought long and hard. Could it be a demonic force that attacked him in his sleep? If it was then why was God's name mentioned? He played the entire dream in his mind, remembering every detail. That man in that black hoody...who was he? Then it hit! Jedidiah had seen him at the window of science class yesterday.
So was it really a dream...or not?
The craziness of the story! LIONZHEART again with another chapter.
Alright. This chapter had to be revised. I was reading over the chapter and some of the stuff I written when I was fifth-teen was kinda corny. But its just a story, I'm trying to have fun with it.
Many of you probably wasn't expecting to have supernatural scenes, such as fights and supernatural powers and stuff. But if you think about it, Jesus had a relationship with God that allowed him to do supernatural things, such as healing, walking on water, calming the storm and even choose the hour of his own death. (Don't use the excuse of "but he is God!" Jesus was made lower than the angels once he was made in flesh.)
Jesus had said it himself that we would do greater things. Wouldn't it be cool to do what Jedidiah did in the story?
I also want to thank those who have read and reviewed my story. It really encourages me to put up more chapters. Read and Review please.
