This is my new Kevin J FanFic and I hope I can continue it because everytime I start a PKJII FF (Paul Kevin Jonas the II), I end up loosing interest, but I'll try and keep this lively! LoLz. It might take a while to update, but the next chapter is going to be around 2,000 pages. I never write anything too short. :) Be kind and...wait, no rewinding, be kind and review! It works if you say it with an accent...I think...
Stained Glass
Prologue
"You won't forget me, will you?"
It was a cold Autumn day two years ago that seemed like yesterday. Reese Anderson was trying desperately to hold back tears as she clutched her pillow in her hand, her bare toes were turning white from the lack of warmth as she stood on her doorstep that illuminated her petite 5'5 frame and bunny pajamas whereas Kevin stood directly across from her, his eyes glowing with unseen emotion that no other guy would ever want to go through, his lips were pulled into a tight frown as he gnawed painfully at his lip. His three brothers mingling hesitantly a few yards away, not wanting to see the pain that twisted their faces. Reese shook her head and returned the question, knowing that eventually the words become as hollow as anything and everyone would drift even further apart. She was fifteen and he was seventeen, but they were closer than anyone else on the block and it was no surprise that their expression's held the most emotion as they said their final goodbyes, promising to always keep in touch. Obviously more hollow words.
Reese wasn't that little girl with the pigtails that held her brown hair and thick framed glasses that covered her pale blue eyes, nor was she the same girl who was a little on the heavy side who liked art and puppy dogs, she was now eighteen and had a whole different perspective on life. She had naturally wavy mocha brown and contacts that finally introduced the world to her blue eyes, she was slender and wished she could have taken back all of those things she had not only promised herself, but Kevin. The guy who had returned the hollow words with a pleading and sorrowful expression as he grudgingly walked away. Away from Reese. Away from his old home. Away from New Jersey. And away from his old life.
It was marking their third year of being apart and nearly their second of not keeping in touch, but no one's marking it.
Reese grabbed her brush and began running through the unruly knots that dominated only on side of her hair, making her look like one of those troll dolls, or even worse, those Cabbage Patch Kids. Next to her mirror, a sparkle of light caught her eyes and she lifted herself upwards, trying to turn away, but couldn't. Just like the childhood memories that had then been "Kodak Moments" had filled her scrapbook, but had long been removed and nearly ripped into a million scraps that would have floated into the trashcan, surely letting Reese loose of the burden that she was keeping to herself. It was two guitar picks strung on a silver chain, while one was plastic, the other was metal. The plastic pick was black and held the golden grace of the Jonas Brothers logo and the other side had a sole picture of Kevin in his smooth threads that Reese never knew about him. The other held a close and special meaning. Two sets of initials and a number that was next to a four letter word.
K.J. + R.A.
4Ever
But the other thing that had managed to keep Reese in her depression was the charm bracelet that she had gotten for her sixteenth birthday, each charm had a unique meaning that even without reading the letter that had come with it, Reese knew who each was from. The ice cream cone was from Frankie, the guitar was from Nick, the sandal was from Joe (who later explained that there were no clowns left), the heart was from Kevin, the rose was from Denise, and the cross was from Paul. Each had a hidden meaning behind the small dangling charms, which probably included why the Anderson's and the Jonases were such good friends from the beginning.
Reese had worn it for the rest of the year, hoping and praying that it would somehow magically make the Jonas's appear with similar smiles on their faces, telling her all at once about their adventures on tour, how much they had missed her, and how they were staying in New Jersey for good. But they never came. Even though Kevin had promised he would always be there for her. What about now? Had Kevin just magically forgotten about his childhood best friend?
Reese gently tugged the last of the knots out of her hair and stood up, backing away quickly, shaking her head from the nightmare-esque memories and quickly retreating out of her room with a sigh of defeat. It would never be the same, even if they came back soon. Notice the exaggeration on if. In their exact words "People change and promises are broken."
She could only guess that's what happened to them as she passed yet another childhood picture on her way to the kitchen to get something to drink or even something to nibble on while she watched some TV. After grabbing a Diet Pepsi and a granola bar, she flopped on the leather couch and turned on the TV.
"--Group hug! Much better!"
Reese's jaw fell loose and she burst out laughing, no matter how mad, upset, or annoyed she was at Kevin, she couldn't help but laugh at that scene. It felt good to laugh alone instead of having a forced laugh with her friends. She couldn't even begin to imagine how Kevin and his brothers got sucked into saying or doing that, but knowing Joe as the main character, it was all slowly coming together.
