Author's Note- All of those childhood stories from the last chapter were actually true, I heard them in some radio interview once and I thought it would be a perfect place to put them, so...there they were. But, yeah, I've been so fricken busy for the last few weeks and it's been totally insane since I had thought my summer would be, you know, a little on the boring side. But I was wrong...again. Anyways for the last week, give or take, I've been on Kauai for a family reunion and the "hotel" -cough-, which by the way, was probably the lamest place we've stayed, and it literally had no Internet access. So I've been working off my phone, but it gets boring fast. And our neighbor just got married and we babysat, which was so freaking hectic. But I'm glad they all seemed to shut their mouths when a music video for "SOS" came on. -Sigh-

Stained Glass

Chapter 13

Reese's eyes glossed over and she self-conciously sniffled. "It...it went ok," she murmured. "I got my stitches out."

Kevin's face softened and he sighed. "Are you crying?" He asked, folding his arms as he shuffled from foot to foot, favoring his right leg just a bit more...like always. Whenever Kevin was confronted with something awkward, he'd go all soft, cross his arms, lean on one leg, and or rub his neck.

Reese's eyes diverted from Kevin's haste to catch them and she shook her head meekly. "N-no," she paused, regaining a sprinkle of composure before she even bothered to say anything that was in her whirlwind of a mind. "Look, I'm...sorry for being a pain in your ass. I was just confused and wanted time to myself."

"But why?" Kevin sighed.

"My mom called two nights ago while you and Nick were out getting Chinese and she told me something and I couldn't get it off my mind," Reese shrugged mindlessly, her eyes clouded over as though she had been transported to that night through memory. "I just wanted some time alone to think it through," she insisted, making it clear that she had no intentions of telling Kevin what it had been.

"Are you sure that's all it was?" Kevin released another sigh, his eyes were narrowed in suspicious as he grazed over Reese's expression.

"I'm positive and it didn't actually hit me until --" her voice trailed off, Reese knew she was walking on dangerous grounds, if she had finished that sentence, Kevin would have been sure to ask her about it. "Until my mom called again," Reese blurted, fixing her gaze on Kevin's red starry socks.

Reese watched as Nick shook his head, tossing her a broad smirk that shouted out "liar" as he got up and padded into Joe's room and shut the door softly behind him, abandoning the set up of Guitar Hero to leave them in piece. Thanks Nick.

"I hope you remember that I'm open to talk anytime," Kevin said, shuffling once more as he lifted his hand to rub the back of his neck.

Oh no. His next sentence is probably going to be bad news.

"And, um, since we're...on the conversation of our relationship, um, I still want to think some things through," he said uneasily. "So can we just put us on hold? Just...for a while?"

Reese wasn't too startled at his request, she thought it would have been at least something that included moving her and or Brook to another room. "I mean, I really don't want to hurt your feelings or anything, Pea, but I just need some more time to think things through."

"Take all the time you need." Because pressure is the last thing you need, especially with the band on haitus as well, Reese nodded crookedly, showing that her words weren't as frosty as they seemed to sound.

"Thanks," Kevin breathed a sigh of relief. "And I never really apologized for yelling at you last night, it was completely out of hand -- I'm sorry."

"No pain, no game," she shrugged in confusion, limping away before Kevin could see her pale blue eyes gloss over with tears.

Author's Note- I know! I am EXTREMELY sorry that this is so freaking short. I've been so busy and I just wanted to get something out before I leave for Oahu for the state judging team and show, which has been so freaking time consuming. I've had judging classes nearly three times a week and my mind is freaking brain dead when it comes to meat cuts.

To add on, my dad is finally coming back from California today and my mom thinks it's essential that we clean our whole house for his return. Which by the way, is the biggest pain in the ass. Plus, I still have to shear my lamb, which my lamb cannot stand. And...yes, it gets better. My sister and I just got accepted into this christian private school and I'm a bit nervous. Anyways...please review and the next chapter will be much, much better. Promise.
