Twilight
As she looked at the full moon that lay behind the foggy windows of the large room, she knew that this was the night she was waiting for.
Sighing wistfully, she let her hands feel the softness of the gown’s fabric that his family had made her wear. It was a midnight blue gown which, as his mother told her, was once hers when she was still a young woman. It had the coolness and smoothness of silk, and it brought her comfort like it was cotton.
Sighing for one more time, she turned her body until she buried her face contentedly on the pillow. She could see the wild shadows that the canopies of the large bed made on her sheets, and she exhaled the musty scent of where she lay. It smelled like him.
“Sakuno?”
Waking up from her semi-conscious reverie, she flipped her body over and grinned as he sat on one edge of the bed.
“I’m sorry,” she said sheepishly. “I didn’t hear you coming.”
And he gave her a small smile, which somehow managed to take her breath away. But then again, everything about him left her breathless. Her eyes sat fixed on his pale, ivory skin, his long, slender neck and his intelligent eyes, which were shining uncharacteristically underneath the moon’s light. His messy hair stood up in all directions, but to her, it was nothing less than perfection. He wore black – from his button-up shirt to his pants. Even so, his entire being seemed to stand out of the room’s darkness.
“You’re daydreaming again.”
She shook her head and blushed. “I’m sorry,” she apologized again. “I was just awed by the fact that this moment is so special that we need to be dressed up for it.”
He laughed, and she once again blushed. “If you’re scared, you can just say so.”
Sakuno shook her head fervently. She had been waiting for this moment – no, that was not the right word. She was asking for it, and now that it finally came, she would not hesitate at all.
He loosened his collar before he raised an eyebrow at her. A cocky smirk was playing on his pale lips. “It was an unbearable experience for me before. I doubt if you could take it,” he challenged. His expression turned serious. “It’s not too late to back out, Sakuno.”
“I won’t,” she replied decisively. “I can take it.”
The smirk came back up on his face. “They say that pride goeth before a fall,” he told her, leaning closer sadistically. “And you, Sakuno, are mada mada.”
She blushed as she felt her warm breath on his face, but she would not let him have his way. Not this time. Trying to control herself from bringing her arms around his neck, she looked away and a feeble, “I’m not,” came out of her mouth.
She could see Ryoma smile in amusement, despite having her back onto him. He placed his hand on her arm, and she felt the hair on her skin stand up at the contact. Softly, he ran one of his fingers across her bare skin, making circles with his fingernails. He was humming, and Sakuno swore that never before in her life had she heard something so erotic. She closed her eyes, trying to push the thoughts from her mind.
She gasped when she felt him nuzzle her neck, his cold lips sending shivers to her spine as he planted soft, wet kisses against her warm skin. She relaxed her eyes but kept them closed as she tried to savor the moment, and with uncertainty, she ran her hands through his dark, green hair down to his silky skin at the back of his neck. She felt something like a pulse beating, but she wasn't sure and she didn't care.
“R-Ryoma...” she moaned softly, and somehow, her voice echoed across the quiet room.
Suddenly, he stopped and regained his previous position. He kept his smirk, and looking down at her flushed face, he said, “There goes your pride, Sakuno.”
She blushed, knowing that she gave herself away without knowing it. Grunting, she gave him a scowl and looked away once more.
To her surprise, his voice became serious. “I’m worried for your sake,” he said suddenly. “I… I don’t want to inflict any kind of pain on you because… because…”
She reached out to touch his hand, and its coldness gave her a feeling of strength and comfort. For all she knew, all he was trying to do was postpone her supposed-to-be ordeal, and she was thankful for it. But he can’t stop her. Not now.
He clenched his hands tightly around hers, and she smiled at him.
“Are you really sure about this, Sakuno?”
His face was paler than it usually was. It was deathly white, and she could see his bottom lip tremble with every word in his question.
She nodded slowly. “I don’t want to leave you alone,” she said gently, her eyes fixed on his. “I want to stay with you, even if it means feeling pain.”
Relief flooded through her when he smiled back, and he slowly cupped her chin. Leaning in closer, he stared deep into her eyes.
“I will be the only one who must see you in pain. I must suffer for what I am about to do. Because Sakuno I--“
“I know. You’ve told me that over and over.” She grinned up at him.
He nodded in understanding and stood up. Carefully, he rolled up his sleeves and took off his shoes. As quietly as he could, he climbed up onto the bed until he was on all fours on top of her. She blushed as he gave her an apologetic smile.
“I… I want to apologize beforehand,” he began again. “If something happens to you, I swear I’ll--“
“Nothing will happen to me,” she said, cutting him off. “I promise.”
He nodded, tension oozing from every pore of his body. “You must do your best,” he whispered, as he brushed his lips on hers softly. “Don’t die.”
Sakuno nodded, licking her lips and wondering if that would be the last kiss she’ll ever get from him. Quickly, she shook out the thoughts and closed her eyes.
Slowly, slowly, he leaned in, and she once again shivered as his lips made contact with her neck. She stiffened a bit before she realized that she wasn’t breathing.
She let out her breath, counting from ten to one before she felt a stinging pain stab her neck.
Her eyes shot open, and all she saw was red. The presence of Ryoma against her neck was now far from her mind as she was brought into another stab of pain. It was larger and more painful than before.
“Ryoma-kun!”
She felt tears sting her eyes, and blood seeping away from her very being. Her flesh was being torn apart, bit by bit by bit, and the fire of pain from her neck had spread across every end of her thin body. She could hear Ryoma’s faint voice from somewhere, but she couldn’t understand. She screamed out his name over and over, but it did not suffice. All that was in her mind was the pain, the cruel pain that was eating her entire body… her entire soul…
...
...
“Ryuzaki!”
Sakuno suddenly snapped out of her trance and looked up, only to find the face of her very annoyed teacher. He was tapping his finger against his arm, and he gave her a scowl. She looked around in surprise and saw that everyone in class was staring at her in shock.
Blood came up to her cheeks as he grabbed the thick book from her grasp, tucking it under his arm.
“I-I’m so s-sorry,” Sakuno stammered, looking at her book frantically. “I promise n-not to d-do it again and…”
“You may get your book back after you’ve come to see me this afternoon, Ryuzaki-san,” he told her curtly as he walked back to the chalkboard. Sakuno lowered her head as she felt everyone’s eyes boring into her.
“Oh, and before I forget.”
Sakuno looked up in embarrassment. The teacher was looking straight at her with a sadistic smile on his face.
“I believe that Echizen-kun from the next class would love to hear about this act of yours, Ryuzaki-san. I shall relay everything with outmost precision.” With a smile, he went back to his lesson.
Whimpering, Sakuno slid down her seat, and prayed for her imminent death.
The End.
A/N: To compensate for my lack of updates in The Chaperone, I have written this short, random, where-the-fcuk-did-that-come-from fic for astraldrop11. You are very much loved, hon (haha).
Moral of the story: Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight must not be read in school, especially during final exams, as Edward Cullen would continuously haunt your mind and leave you with a grade of 27 out of 50 in Chemistry. Believe me. I’ve been there before.
Reviews would be loved.

P.S. I still haven’t bought the sequel (Because it’s out of stock, dang it! I now feel your pain, OrangeAce.) so no spoilers!
