BPOV

A/N- Everybody flips out when a new baby is born. Edward and Bella have had a successful pregnancy. I thought I’d tell a story from everybody’s POV. If you haven’t read Blackbird Fly, you’re not going to get this story at all.

Disclaimer- Stephenie Meyer owns. I own nothing.

“You’re not going to feel a thing, Bella,” the OBGYN said. I couldn’t believe they had talked me into a C-section. Well, it was best for me, since I had spent the past three months on bedrest. My system was so fragile they were worried about my giving birth naturally. I felt a little jealous of Rosalie, giving birth naturally, no pain medication, and having the perfect daughter. C-sections caused all sorts of problems.

The orderlies strapped my arms down to like I was on a cross. They had a screen blocking my view of my lower body, and I had a complete epidural. I couldn’t feel anything from below my stomach. Edward stroked my head. “I assisted a few times on this in medical school on my rotations,” he said. “Don’t worry, I’m watching everything. You’ll be just fine.”

My whole body began to rock back and forth. “What’s going on?” I asked.

“They’re sawing you open,” Edward answered. “Just a moment… There!”

“That’s it?” I asked.

“Yes! It’s a girl!” Edward cried.

“Yes, it’s a girl,” the OBGYN said. I struggled to sit up, and see her. She was a little slimy thing covered in blood and had a long umbilical cord attached to her.

“She’s not making any noise!” I cried, feeling the blood draining from my face.

The OBGYN used some kind of suction device to get the fluids out of her mouth and nose, and then smacked her on the butt, lightly. She began to scream- both Edward and I sighed in relief. The clamped off the umbilical cord. This wasn’t as quick and fast-paced as it looked on film. “She’s perfect!” Edward said. “Everything looks normal! When do I get to cut the cord?”

“Almost ready, Edward,” the OBGYN replied. He handed him a pair of surgical scissors. “Go ahead.” Edward raced over to snip the cord. They washed her off and wrapped her in a pink blanket and set her down right beside my head. They hadn’t undone the arm restraints.

She had stopped crying. Her eyes opened just a little bit- they were the same bottle-green as Edward’s- yes! And her hair- she didn’t have much, and what she did have was mottled down on her little head from the impromptu wash-off. She sighed and made a face for me. Her hair might be that same copper-red, like Edward’s! I was ecstatic. “She has your eyes and hair!” I cried. She stirred. She was perfect, just like Edward had said.

“She’s got your lips,” Edward said. I couldn’t take my eyes off of her, suddenly. I understood, now. The mother-child bond. Her little mouth opened in a perfect o-shape. This was our baby! I thought I had loved Edward quicker and more than any one person could, but I knew, suddenly, that it was impossible, seeing my daughter for the first time.

“Can you get my arms free, yet?” I asked the staff.

“No, not yet, Bella,” the OBGYN said. “The epidural has to wear off.”

“I want to hold her!” I cried. I could feel her breathing.

“So do I!” Edward cried. “Let me hold my child!”

“OK, fine,” I said. He picked her up, carefully, but awkwardly. She whimpered, but Edward smiled, and pressed a kiss to her little head.

“She’s so perfect,” he said. “I can’t believe she’s a part of both of us. I can’t believe she was inside you just five minutes ago! Your body is so amazing, Bella!”

“We must be the corniest couple alive,” I said. “Can we show her to the grandparents, yet?”

“Go ahead, Edward,” the OBGYN said.

“I’m not going anywhere, Edward,” I said, crossly.

I carried my baby out to the waiting room. “Here she is!” I yelled.

I saw Mom jump up and run up to me. “A girl?” she cried. “Oh, Edward!”

Charlie was right there. “Good job, Edward!” Charlie cried, smacking me on the back.

“She’s a red-head,” Dad said.

“The Ukranian bloodline,” Mom said, glowing.

“She has green eyes, too,” I said. “Bella says so.”

“How’s Bella doing?” Charlie asked.

“Great,” I said. “She’s coming off the epidural, they’re sewing her up right now, and she’s doing just fine right now.”

“She’s just perfect!” Alice cried, the floor was vibrating from her jumping up and down. Jasper was trying to get pictures.

“I know!” I cried.

“That’s Bella’s mouth!” Angela announced. “She’s going to have Bella’s smile! Who’s nose is that?”

“She looks like Renée,” Charlie said, sounding choked up. Charlie didn’t know what Renée looked like at birth. A few minutes later, the nurses asked me to bring her into the nursery. They put a diaper on her and a little pink toboggan. Bella wouldn’t like that at all. We had to leave her there until Bella’s milk came in and she was ready to start nursing.

Bella had been moved to a recovery room. They had given her some pain medications. “How do you feel?” I asked.

“Great,” she said. I could tell the medications weren’t doing it, really.

“I’m so amazed by this process,” I said.

“You’ve seen it before, though,” she said.

“I know,” I said. “It never ceases to amaze me, though, what the human body can do. Your Dad said that he thinks she looks like your Mom.”

“How did I know he was going to say something like that?” she muttered.

“Just rest for a few minutes,” I said.

EmPOV

Sarah bounced in front of the flatscreen while playing the Wii like a jackrabbit as we walked in. The reason my daughter was so skinny was because she jumped up and down while playing Mario games, which she played all the time. We let her eat highly caloric things like ice cream or cheetos because if we didn’t, she’d waste away. She was playing Mario Kart, which I had downloaded onto the Wii, recently. “Mommy! Daddy!” she cried, dropping the controller and running to me. I picked her up and kissed her. “Did Aunt B have her baby?”

“Yes,” Rose said taking off her trench coat, hanging it on the coat rack. “It’s a girl.”

“Oh, that’s great,” Kari, Sarah’s baby-sitter, said. “Does she have a name, yet?”

“They’ve been keeping it a secret,” I said. “We’ll probably know tomorrow. Sarah, do you have a kiss for Mommy?”

“Yeah!” Sarah cried. I handed her over to Rose for a kiss.

“How about I pay you, Kari?” I asked.

“Sure, Mr. McCarty!” Kari cried. “So, what does the baby look like?”

“Like her Dad,” Rose said, setting Sarah back down on the floor

“I think she looks like her Mom,” I said, getting out my wallet out of my back pocket. Sarah went back to the Wii.

“She’s got Edward’s eyes and hair,” Rose said.

“She’s got Bella’s mouth. Angela was going on and on about that,” I said. “Although Charlie says that she looks like Bella’s mom.”

“Charlie didn’t meet Renée until she was almost 18, how would he know what she looked like as a baby?” Rose complained.

“Look, Mommy, I’m Yoshi!” Sarah cried.

“I see!” Rose said, sitting down on the couch. “Watch the edges!”

Another Go-kart hit Yoshi, spinning Sarah about. Sarah bounced around.

“What color is her hair?” Kari asked.

“Red,” I said.

“Copper. And her eyes are green,” Rose said. “She’s really pale, like her Mom, though. Her mom has the best lips, like Angelina Jolie. When my lips start to get crepey, I’m going to see if I can get some restaylene injections and I’m going to take her along for an example.”

“You won’t need them, honey, you’ll age gracefully,” I comforted my wife. “I’m going to be godfather,” I added.

Sarah steered her go-kart over the edge. “Aww!” Sarah pouted. The flying tow trucks picked Yoshi back up and set him back down on the race track.

“Be careful for the edges, Sarah,” I warned.

“Well, you’ll have to bring the baby over sometime, I want to see her,” Kari said. “Good night!”

Kari left for her parent’s apartment. “What do you bet they’ll name the baby after Bella’s mother?” Rose asked. “They’re both such cornballs and like tradition so much, I can see that happening.”

“Corny describes them perfectly,” I said. “I could totally see that.”

“Time for bed, Little Princess,” Rose said. She mimed air guitar to me over Sarah’s head. She wanted to play a game of Guitar Hero. Crap. I always lost to her.

Sarah pouted for a moment, begging to finish her game, and I picked her up. “You heard Mommy,” I said. “What ever Mommy says, goes. We’ll take you to see the baby tomorrow, and tomorrow gets here faster if you go to sleep.”

As Sarah whined, I heard a burp come out.

“Good one, bring it up again, we’ll vote on it!” I told Sarah. She grinned and high-fived me.

“Sarah, what do we say when we burp?” Rose asked. Sarah shrugged. “’Excuse me.’”

“Excuse you, Mommy,” Sarah replied.

I started laughing. Sarah was definitely my kid. Rose looked up at me with a snarl on her face. I concealed my laughter. I didn’t want to sleep on the couch tonight.

A/N- Of course Emmett’s kid is a smart-ass, like him. I based Emmett and Sarah on a friend of mine. Rosalie is a lot more like my Mom, though.

Of note- I need some help from a mommy who’s breast-fed for some experience on the next chapters. Anybody who’s willing o help me, I would greatly appreciate it! Please PM meet or review me! I will give you a special shout-out in my next chapter!
