A\N: I was chillaxing with my siblings when I realized my Mother's Day isn't that bad. But what would it be like in DOTM? And thus, oneshots spring into life! To any moms reading, may the Mother Goddess bless you all!
WILL
"So what are we doing here?"
"Attending a Ranger Reunion." I explain for the hundreth time.
Conner sighs. "I thought we were done with the whole 'Ranger' thing. I thought we were going to save the world like normal people have to."
"On any other day of the year, I'd agree." I nod, my hair following me. I let my hair down for once, just because Con likes it.
"What's today?" Conner asks suspiciously.
"It's Mother's Day." I deadpan. "The one day of the year Mom can guilt-trip me into coming."
"So say no."
"Mom's nice to you." I explain. "When it comes to guilt-tripping me, she could be a travel agent." I sigh. "I guess it's not that bad. Taylor mentioned the Yellows wanted to kidnap me and initiate me."
"You're a White Ranger."
"Yeah. Apparently the other female Whites get adopted by the Yellows."
"You were Green before that."
I glance at Mom's door desperatly. Please, please, brain, find some way for me to justify teleporting in. "Yeah, but most of the Yellows are sane."
I knock.
"I thought you would teleport." Conner says, putting an arm around my waist.
"Mom's got Brendan." Another deadpan. I love, love, love my little brother, but having him around means I can't act like the Witch I am.
Aisha awnsers the door and pulls me into a hug. "Will! I haven't seen you in forever!"
I duck out of the hug and go try to find an empty spot to sulk.
Dad's house hasn't changed at all. It's small, full of charecter, and every space to relax psychically has another person in it.
I'm going to go insane.
Udonna and Mystic Force are sitting in the kitchen, so when I go try to hide there, Udonna bows to me.
Damn. I'd hoped avoiding her would make it clear that I'm not a goddess or something.
"Draig-Teine," She says, using my Galic name, Fire Dragon. "Blessed be."
"Blessed be." The Mystic Force team is staring at me.
No, not at me. At Draig-Teine.
I hate that.
Conner walks over to me and kisses my head. I snuggle against him, relieved. His aura is wonderful, clear and sweet, like water.
The Mystic Force team starts pelting me with questions, and Conner awnsers Nick's. Or Beown's. I keep forgetting what he calls himself.
I sneak off.
I finally give up and touch the door of my room. It reeks of Brendan, but there's still a hint of my Magyk beneath it.
I open the door.
The walls are blue, a sky-blue with a sun painted on the top, a few clouds, and a desert scene on the ground, melding with the tan carpet. I guess Trent helped decorate.
In the bed is Brendan.
I walk up to him, smiling. His name means 'King'. He looks like any other baby, though, laying there.
It's weird. I love kids, but I've never even held my own brother.
His eyes open.
They're the same deep green as mine.
He smiles at me, and I smile back. His first one, if Mom's right. He holds up his arms, his mind saying, Pick me up!
I reach down, lifting him gently onto my shoulder. I sit in Mom's rocking chair, thinking, Hi, Bren. I'm your sister.
Big sister. I love you. His thoughts are unformed emotions, but I love them, the sweet babieness of them.
I realize I'm humming and start singing the tune, an old Galic song Dad sang to me when I had nightmares. Brendan settles against my shoulder, falling asleep again.
Mom walks in and sees me. She reaches for Brendan, but I shake my head. "He wants to stay here."
Mom sighs. "I guess..." She glances down at me. "He doesn't know you. He hates people he doesn't know."
"We talked." I explain. "In our heads."
"He can do that?"
"He can't do anything else." I stroke his back. "He's cute."
"He looks like you."
I don't reply, just enjoying the feeling of holding my brother.
Mom kisses my head. "You're so cute like that."
I smile. "Thanks."
Dad stands at the door, watching me, and I make my present appear over Mom's head. She laughs aloud as the flowers rain down around her, and it wakes up Brendan, who gurgles again.
"He laughed." Mom whispers. "Oh my gosh."
"Happy Mother's Day, Mom." I say quietly.
Mom doesn't say anything.
Her face just glows.
