Blue sat on the roof of the saloon/inn/whore house that they were currently staying in, much to her utter despise.
If she had known before hand where they were going to hide out, she would have made her disapproval much louder and fierce. Then again, when Hige told her about it, he said it was, and I quote: a nice little place that a lovely woman offered us some rooms for however long we need.
Sure, she had her suspicions on this “nice little place” but, it honestly couldn’t be that bad, right? She now knew that whenever Hige described something as a nice little place that a lovely woman offered for them, she would hit him upside the head, and then curl up against a tree.
One thing she prided herself in was that fact that she didn’t make mistakes twice, and she was going to make sure she didn’t repeat this one.
Everyone else was asleep, and though she loved her pack, she needed time alone every now and then.
But, of course, her luck wasn’t with her.
She felt the subtly vibrations of Kiba walking toward her along the roof, but, she didn’t turn to greet him. She never did.
It wasn’t like she wasn’t on good terms with her pack leader…it was just she didn’t follow the “protocol” of respect that her ancestors laid down for Alphas. Male or female, she answered to no one.
She only graced him with her gaze when she felt him sit down beside her.
“Why aren’t you sleeping? You’ll need your strength tomorrow.” Kiba said, beginning the conversation.
“Don’t worry about me! I can handle myself fine!” She responded, giving him a quick glance of her blue eyes before looking back up at the hanging moon.
“I never said you couldn’t. But, with a mad wolf after us, you should grab the chance to sleep, eat, or drink whenever you can.”
Blue clicked her teeth together in annoyance. She hated it when his logic beat her stubbornness.
“Why don’t you take your own advice? Or, are you not sleeping because you don’t trust Glade?” She said, throwing back that fact that she was mad at him to make up for his logic beating her yet again.
With a sigh, the white wolf gazed up at the glowing orb in the sky, feeling at peace just watching it.
“Blue, I know you want me to accept Glade with open arms, and I would like nothing more to do so myself, but I still have to think for the pack. My experience tells me that until a new member proves his worth and total loyalty to us, he cannot earn my approval or trust. I won’t allow anything to happen to any of you, and he can easily betray us. I’m sorry, but that is how I am.” Kiba said, trying to let her understand his reasoning.
With a defeated sigh, Blue leaned back until she was lying on the roof, her hands folded behind her head.
“Yeah, I understand Kiba. But still, you need to give him a chance. Even I can see he is honest in his words, and I’ve come to trust him. For someone like me who didn’t even trust any of you guys until months after traveling with you all, and that’s something. He won’t betray us.” She said, whispering the last part mostly to herself.
Nodding his head in acceptance to her words, Kiba also laid himself down so they were side by side.
They continued watching the moon in silence, neither feeling the need to break it. But, while Blue was watching the moon, Kiba was watching Blue from the corner of his eye.
Being so close to her he could easily catch her unique scent of moonflowers and rain water, and see the obvious soft texture of her fur/hair. He could also tell how limber and fit she was, a truly excellent specimen of their kind, even if she was only half wolf.
He also picked up other things. Like how her human lips were so perfect and flawless, or how her shoulders curved gently down and her neck was long and smooth. He saw that her hair came down around her ears, but didn’t hide the fact that they were slightly pointed near the tips, or how they each had a single piercing in them.
She was perfect, and he loved her. It was no longer about claiming her as his mate to show Glade who was boss, it was about claiming her as his mate because he couldn’t live without her, and he could only hope that she returned his feelings.
With a sigh, he lifted himself up from his place on the roof, and stood, dusting off his jeans in the process. Looking back down at the she-wolf beside him, he met her blue eyed gaze easily, once again marveling at the amazing color they held.
“I’ll…try to easier on him. I can’t promise much, but I will try.” He said, knowing she knew exactly what he meant.
Honestly surprised at his statement, Blue nodded her head before giving him a true smile.
“Thank you Kiba. That’s all I ask.”
With one more look into her azure eyes and a final nod, he made his way back across the roof and to the room everyone else was sleeping in, his heart feeling lighter than before.
As soon as she heard him enter the inn again, Blue returned to gazing at the night time sky.
She couldn’t explain it, but she wasn’t as annoyed as she was before with Kiba and him interrupting her alone time. In fact, she was glad he did.
Why was that?
Paying it no mind, she closed her eyes, breathing in the scent of the night time air, and began drifting off into a light sleep. Dreaming of a wolf with blue eyes just like her.

The next day, things were had hardly changed. Hige was enjoying the time they spent in the whore house, flirting with every human woman in the place, and earning himself quite a bit of fans.
Tsume had disappeared to search the area, making sure they were safe from both humans and the mad wolf hunting them, while Blue and Toboe happily stayed in their room, enjoy the peace since god knows when.
Surprisingly, the first thing Kiba had done in the morning was ask Glade if he would help him lay a false trail around the other side of the city to help fool anyone on their trail, to which the new wolf gladly agreed.
Blue smiled as she watched Kiba live up to his word from the night before. He was trying, and she could tell it was going against his every nature, but he was honestly trying. And for that, she was thankful.
And, who knew, the two may actually become close friends. It was in fact a somewhat similar situation that Kiba and Tsume were in the first time they met.
What human said quote? With great things comes much time? Or was it something else entirely. Ah, what the hell. All that mattered was Kiba was trying, and soon, they would be a pack again.
She was sure of it.
