Everybody hurried to grab their dates as a slow song came on – the time to slow dance

Everybody hurried to grab their dates as a slow song came on. “I don’t wanna go another day, so I’m telling you exactly what is on my mind, seems like, everybody’s breakin’ up, they’re throwin’ their love away, but I know I’ve got a good thing right here…”

I closed my eyes, relishing the feeling of his cool neck against my hands. I wish I could stay in this moment forever, I thought. I took in more of his scent – it was a sweet smell, not overpowering like cologne. As the song edged closer and closer to the end, I cautiously put my head against his shoulder as we swayed in time to the beat, in perfect harmony. The song ended much too quickly, and as we broke apart, we looked into each other’s eyes. I gazed into his perfect brown eyes, losing my concentration for a moment. His eyes often did this to me – made me forget everything. Except him, of course. We were still very close to each other, our noses close to touching. He moved towards me a bit more, until we had almost no gap in between us.

“Bella,” he whispered, his breath blowing lightly in my face. His lips touched mine, and I closed my eyes again.

As the winter formal came close to an end, we stopped dancing and went to sit on some of the chairs closer to the back of the auditorium. We sat down next to each other, feeling tired. Anthony looked sort of sleepy, and his head soon lowered. He slowly closed his eyes. Suddenly, he raised his head and went to place it on my shoulder. His steady breathing made me want to hug him. Trying not to move my shoulders too much, I rested my head on top of his, smiling. I gave him a small hug, not wanting to ruin the moment. When the dance came to a complete end, we headed to our houses slowly, not wanting to be parted.
