House. Cameron. Chase.
He slipped his fingers through her hair. It was silky but matted slightly. He gripped her head. She stood, stiffly, letting him tilt her head up so that she had to look into his eyes. The enjoyment and control awakened his blue gaze; his stare boring into her own wide and slightly confused eyes. She shuddered slightly and this just caused a smiled to cross his lips, amused but also kind. He bent close and she closed her eyes, sinking into the memory of their previous kiss. But as his lips grazed hers, she pulled back sharply. He let go, but reluctantly.
'House.' She breathed, slowly shaking her head. His eyes narrowed with concentration, as he tried to interpret her. She took a step back, intimidated.
'I thought this was what you wanted.' She stared back, shocked.
'I…' She licked her lips and swallowed. 'I'm with Chase now.' Uttering the words seemed to pain her; flinching at his name.
House's head tilted back as her words hit him.
'And to kiss me would be to cheat on Chase which…'
'Which I couldn't do.' She finished for him, firmly. He moved closer, closing the gap she had just created. She looked up at him and he stared down at her, almost enjoying the control he felt over her.
'You don't even like him.'
'Where has all this come from?' She was frowning now, getting more and more uneasy.
'This is what you've been waiting for. Why let Chase get in the way?' He growled not letting her break away from his gaze. She glared, considering.
'So, that's what this is about?' She began to get angry. 'Chase?' He didn't reply which was a bad mistake. She continued to speculate… accurately.
'This is some sort of experiment! You wanted to see if I would cheat… break my moral code for you!?' the question in her voice showed her vulnerability; confusion; hurt. He smiled, slightly bitterly, slightly pityingly. She glowered back.
'You're so twisted.' She breathed before turning to leave.
He cursed her for being so perfect and good and cursed himself for his damned, experiments, games and questions.
'I saw you earlier.' Chase walked up behind Cameron as she closed her locker door.
'When?' She frowned slightly, turning to face him.
'In House's office.' Surprised flashed past her eyes but then she watched him calmly, waiting for him to speak again. 'You were faithful.' He nodded slightly. 'Thank you for that.' She still didn't speak. She could tell he wasn't finished. 'Especially as what you did was clearly so hard for you.' She tensed slightly. They both knew he was telling the truth. If she denied it, he would argue back, upset that she was lying. But not denying it made him hang his head. 'When is this going to end Cameron?' He sighed, and turned to shut his own locker.
'I don't know.' She answered simply. Her answer shocked them both.
After a moment he slung his bag over his shoulder and headed for the door, not waiting for her. 'Well I hope it's soon.' He left his comment behind with her.
'So do I.' She replied quietly to the empty room.
