Chapter 5 – The Three

The next day, Yoda set out in full force, and begin the resurrection of the rebel alliance. He believed that now was the time, and that with the son of the chosen one growing more powerful each day, nothing could stop them.

Anakin however, was distraught. Here he was, his whole family surrounding him, and he didn’t even have the guts to reveal himself. He kept his presence well hidden, so well in fact, that master Yoda himself had no idea that the man behind the mask was Anakin Skywalker. Yet, Padmé, Luke and Leia felt a strange connection to their new friend, and Luke decided he would press further, and discover just who exactly Coon Sheen was.

Anakin wasn’t the only one with a past connected to the rebellion. Padmé would have to be blind not to realise Arella was in fact the rightful heir to the Alderaan and Taanab thrones. It was undeniable that Arella Antilles was in fact Princess Arella Uruviel-Organa. But Padmé kept it to herself. She assumed Arella didn’t know about her tragic past, and felt it wasn’t the time to reveal it to her.

Several days later...

Padmé watched Luke, Jinn and Arella sparring with a smile on her face. The children, they were the future, and to watch them continue to grow in strength brought her much joy.

She laughed to herself as Arella force pushed Luke into a pile of mud, and heard him throw a jumble of curses at her.

Arella and Luke acted like they hated each other, but Padmé, as a mother, could see right through it. There was an attraction there, even if they didn’t realise it themselves.

‘You shouldn’t waste time young ones...you never know how much time you actually have left’ she whispered sadly.

‘You’re right’ sounded a deep voice. Padmé jumped, but relaxed as she saw it was only Coon.

‘You lost somebody you love?’ he continued. Padmé nodded, taking a shaky deep breath.

‘My husband...he died a long time ago’ she replied, her voice cracked with emotion.

‘Im sorry’ apologised Anakin, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. Padmé nodded. Anakin moved his hand slowly to her cheek, and caressed her softly. Padmé leaned in to his touched, then jumped.

‘Im sorry..I...I can’t’ and before Anakin could reply, she disappeared into her hut.

‘Sith!’ spat Anakin, kicking a tree root.

Luke watched Anakin stalk away, and frowned.

‘Im going to talk to Coon’ he announced and quickly followed Anakin into the surrounding forest.

‘Coon...COON!’ called Luke. Anakin continued walking.

‘Hey, Coon’ repeated Luke, grabbing Anakin’s shoulder.

Anakin jumped, and then quickly remembered Coon was the name he was using.

‘Oh, sorry Luke, I was just...thinking’ mumbled Anakin.

‘It's okay...is something wrong?’ asked Luke. Anakin sighed.

‘No Luke, Im fine’ he lied. Luke frowned, and decided to try and lighten the mood.

‘So, is Arella a relative of yours, or...’ asked Luke.

‘What? Oh, no...uhh...I found her when she was a few months old. Her mother had died in a crash...I took her in’ replied Anakin grimly.

‘Oh...does she know?’ asked Luke.

‘Yeah...her mother stayed alive long enough to tell me Arella’s name, and ask me to look after her...I couldn’t refuse’ replied Anakin.

‘I dunno how you put up with her...she’s infuriating’ muttered Luke. Anakin raised an eyebrow, and smirked.

‘Oh I see’.

‘See what?’ frowned Luke.

‘You like my padawan...dont you?’ sniggered Anakin. Luke’s eyes widened.

‘What?! N..no..I...she...no way’ stammered Luke. Anakin chuckled.

Must be father’s intuition.

Anakin abruptly stopped laughing, his expression becoming serious.

Father!

‘You alright?’ asked Luke, confused by the sudden change of mood.

‘Yeah...yeah im fine’ muttered Anakin. Luke frowned, unconvinced.

‘So, what do you know about your father?’ asked Anakin, desperate to know their thoughts.

The more I know as to how they feel...the quicker I can reveal myself.

‘Not much...mom said he died without even knowing she was pregnant...but I do now he was a hero’ grinned Luke proudly. Anakin felt his heart swell at the clear adoration in Luke’s eyes.

‘Im sure he’d be very proud to see how powerful you’ve become, you have great skill Luke’ said Anakin truthfully.

‘Thanks’ smiled Luke, blushing slightly.

The pair continued to talk for hours, sharing memories of Bakura and Tatooine, and where they think the rebellion should start.

The more Luke talked to Anakin, the more he felt connected to him. He found himself wanting to know more about him, his life before Tatooine, and how he came to know Ferus Olin.

It tore Anakin up inside, being so close to his son, forming a bond, but not being able to be truthful with his son. Anakin saw himself in Luke, which both thrilled and terrified him.

You won’t get them Sidious...you won’t get them.

The emperor swayed a little, grabbing onto his desk for support.

‘Master, are you alright?’ asked Ferus, moving closer to him. Sidious waved him away, and nodded.

‘Something has happened...something...good’ he snarled.

‘I dont understand master...’ replied Ferus. Sidious growled, and turned to his apprentice.

‘The time has come...the rebellion had reformed. We must take the necessary steps to ensure its destruction, and we must start with the remaining Jedi’ explained Sidious. He moved to his holo player, and inserted a small disk.

‘It is time to reveal the three weapons that will destroy the rebellion forever’.

Ferus watched in awe as the images of three super weapons appeared.

‘What are they master?’ breathed Ferus. Two of the super weapons faded, whilst one of them grew larger.

‘The Dark Reaper’ began Sidious, ‘a weapon devised thousands of years ago in the Sith Wars. Its power comes from the force, harvesting it to create a turbo-laser beam powerful enough to destroy an entire city in seconds’. Ferus’ eyes lit up at the image of the dome shaped weapon. It disappeared, and the second weapon loomed into view. It was minute, no larger than a starfighter.

‘The Sun Crusher, a ship capable of causing a supernova, destroying a star system in minutes, small enough to slip into hyperspace unnoticed’. Ferus’s smile grew wider, his eyes glowing yellow.

So much power.

The Sun Crusher faded, and the third and final weapon materialized before them. It was slightly larger than an imperial star ship, and shaped like an umbrella.

‘The Orbital Night Cloak, several of these satellites wields enough power to prevent all sunlight from reaching a planet, leaving it in entire darkness, and eventually, causing the planet to freeze, along with all life forms present’. Sidious gazed wistfully for a moment, and then the weapon disappeared. He turned to Ferus, who stood in awe, rendered speechless by the sheer power he’d just witnessed.

‘With these three weapons, the galaxy will tremble, and kneel before me’ continued Sidious, ‘the rebellion will not stand a chance’.

‘Master...I...I am truly honoured to be in the presence of such greatness’ Ferus bowed low, his now an impossible yellow, ‘are the weapons ready?’

‘No, but I am leaving it to you, Darth Bane, to oversee the construction of these weapons, and annihilation of the rebellion, I am right in thinking I can trust you?’ stated Sidious.

‘Of course my master, I will not fail’ replied Ferus.

‘Good...go to Korriban, home planet of the Sith, and begin construction of the Orbital Night Cloaks...we will destroy all those who dare defy us’ ordered Sidious.

‘Yes my lord, I will leave at once’. Ferus bowed again, and swiftly left the office.

Sidious smirked, ‘you can come out now’. A tall, bald woman, with grey skin and black tattoo’s emerged from a shadowed corner.

‘Yes master’ she hissed.

‘Ventress, I am leaving you in charge with the hunt for the rebellion. It is weak, for now, but I feel that they will quickly gain support. The son of the Chosen One fights with them, and no doubt the Chosen One himself will come out of exile, and join them’ he explained with a sinister smile.

‘The Skywalker legacy will fall at my hands master, this you can be sure of’ growled Ventress.

‘Good. Begin with the senator; if anyone can bring out the Chosen One, it is she’. Ventress bowed, and left the room.

‘It won’t be long’ snarled Sidious, gazing at the thunderstorm that now enveloped the once twinkling planet of Coruscant, ‘the shroud of the dark side will cover all’.
