Scott couldn’t believe it; in just a few short weeks he would be getting married to the woman he loved. It seemed like yesterday when the two were walking through the garden in the mansion dreaming about their future, and how it would be. Of course he never dreamed that Jean would die, come back as the Phoenix, and die again, only to return to him once more.
Scott was happy when they found Jean...the real Jean who the Phoenix left beneath the lake. As soon as she woke he kissed her passionately and days later he proposed. But now his mind was racked with many questions, and one of them was... ‘Should he marry Jean?’
In his heart he knew he loved her, but something was plaguing his mind constantly. It was a feeling, an ominous feeling, and no matter what he did he couldn’t shake it. Even Scott’s dreams, which were mostly pleasant, started turning into frightening nightmares.
So many nightmares consumed his nights, and one of the worst ones were of him and Jean kissing at the altar and everyone dying. How could one kiss kill everyone he loved...it was impossible. Another dream, which wasn’t as bad as the others, was where he was at the wedding watching a beautiful woman, he knew was Jean, walking up to altar covered in her beautiful white veil, but when he lifted it, shock consumed him. It was not Jean...but Storm.
Why was he dreaming about marrying Storm? He quickly concluded that it must’ve been the recent wedding of Storm and T’Challa, they were married six months ago and that must be the reason he was dreaming it. At first he thought he was starting to like Storm as more than a friend, but he figured that wasn’t the case, after knowing her all these years why would feelings like that start to surface now. He shrugged the idea off until a knock came from his door.
“It’s open.” he yelled out. He did not feel like walking away from his window to the door, he just figured it was Jean or Bobby. To his surprise it wasn’t.
“Hello there handsome.” came a sweet serene voice he knew all to well.
His water blue eyes focused on a woman with soft dark brown skin, eyes as blue as his and hair as white as snow, “Storm.” his body so filled with shock all he could do was speak in a whisper. “What are you doing here?” he managed to say.
“What do you mean, why wouldn’t I be here with the man I love.” she said to him as she walked toward him.
“Storm stop this, what about Jean she’s my fiancée and your best friend.” he tried warning her.
“There is no Jean, Scott, now kiss me.” she commanded, as she walked up to him and placed his arms around her waist.
One side of Scott wanted to resist her, but the other side wanted her, and wanted her bad. Before he knew it he was falling under the spell of her water blue eyes that seem to sparkle when they hit the light. The touch of her soft white hair was making the resistance even harder for him.
“Well what are you waiting for?”
“Nothing.” he told her.
He leaned in and kissed her hesitantly at first, but as he touched her soft lips, he began to kiss her more passionately. He loved the feeling he was feeling from Storm, it was ten times better than it was with Jean, and he wanted more. He pulled out of the kiss and looked deeply into Storm’s eyes.
“I love you.” Storm said to him softly as she placed her head on his chest.
“I love-"
Before Scott could complete the sentence he woke and rose abruptly from his sleep. He looked to his side and saw Jean lying next to him.
“It was a dream, only a dream.” he said to himself softly.
He got out of bed as gently as he could, and decided to head to the kitchen to find something to calm his nerves; he was determined to sleep more than two hours tonight.
Somewhere unknown, a young brown haired girl with golden brown skin sat on the floor in the meditating position with her eyes closed; surrounded by white candles positioned in a circle. She gasped as her eyes popped open revealing blue eyes that were filled with annoyance.
“Lilly are you okay!?” A young boy with a slightly darker brown complexion asked her.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah, I’m fine.” she told him as she got up and walked towards the couch.
“How did it go?” he asked, running a hand through his shoulder length snow white hair.
“Well I sent him another dream, but I don’t know if it got through to him, Scott can be a little stubborn.”
“A little stubborn, Scott’s the king of stubborn.”
“Be that as it may we need to make sure that he doesn’t marry Jean, or we can’t stop what’s happening.” a female voice came from the doorway.
In the doorway stood an older woman who had the same skin complexion as the younger two, except that her hair was black, and her eyes were red.
“How are we going to do that Kenya, Scott is too stubborn to take his dreams seriously.” Lilly reminded her.
“Well I guess you and Micah will have to go and stop it physically.” Kenya told them.
“You mean-“
“Yes Micah, that’s exactly what I mean.” Kenya told him already knowing what he was going to ask.
A few days later Jean was outside the mansion sitting by the pool. It seemed as if she was just reading a book, but in reality her mind was consumed by thoughts about the wedding.
“A penny for your thoughts?” a deep sophisticated male voice spoke from behind.
Jean turned to see that it was a man who had been practically a father to her her whole life. He was one of the world’s most powerful telepaths, and ran a huge school, but somehow he always found a way to give time to each and every student. She honestly did not know how he did it sometimes, but she admired him for it.
“More like a million pennies.” she said to him with a smile.
“Cold feet?”
“No, not about the wedding I feel that it'll be fine, but me I’m not so sure.
“Jean the Phoenix is long gone.”
“But what of my powers Professor, it’s been months and they haven’t returned yet.”
“Well I can’t explain that as of yet, but I assure you once I figure it out I’ll let you know.” he told her as he rolled up beside her and took her hand within his. “Jean try not to worry about anything else. Just keep your mind on your wedding. You don’t want to give yourself wrinkles.”
She giggled and gave Professor X a kiss on his cheek. “You just make sure you’re there to give me away.”
“I wouldn’t dream of missing it.” he told her as he watched her walk into the mansion.
Miles away from the mansion, in the forest, the animals were going about their normal routines. Suddenly the wind started to whip around them followed by vast amounts of crimson electrical energy. They ran frantically through the forest to get away from the commotion. The energy shot into different directions before connecting and forming a crimson red portal. Out of the portal walked Lilly and Micah.
“I think we’re here.” Micah assumed.
The portal crackled with energy and shattered into a million pieces.
“Well if we’re not we're in big trouble.” said Lilly.
Micah looked around and scanned the area, “No we’re definitely here.
“How do you figure?”
“Because this forest was destroyed many years ago, I remember mom telling me a lot about it. She said she use to love to fly to this point and just enjoy nature.”
“Well what do we do now oh big annoying brother of mine, I got us here, now what?” Lilly asked him.
He gave her a glare of annoyance before speaking, “First, we find a place to stay, we get settled in, we eat and rest, and then we stop that wedding.”
“All right then, lead the way.”
