Summary: Bored at school, Mikaela ditches last period to hang out with a certain Autobot leader.

Mikaela Banes sat in her classroom at school listening or trying to listen to the teacher as she spoke about William Shakespeare’s Hamlet and how they were going to go see the play in about a month. Mikaela, however, wasn’t really paying attention to what her teacher was saying but rather thinking about a certain Autobot leader who was picking her up after school and she sighed. She had broken up with her boyfriend Sam a year ago and now she couldn’t stop thinking about the certain Autobot leader who invaded her thoughts daily and her dreams nightly, actually to contradict that thought it was more when she had first met him.

Mikaela had been scared at first but then sometimes she told herself it wasn’t really fear, it was more she had stared at him in wonderment. He was the most beautiful creature she had ever laid eyes on, and even though she had fallen for Sam, the certain Autobot leader never left her thoughts. Mikaela knew it wasn't just because he was attractive but who he was. He made a wonderful, strong and determined leader who was able to lead the Autobots. He had a tendancy to be serious but also had a sense of humor. She got all tingly and strange too. Like when he looked at her, she got butterflies in her stomach, her heart skipped a million miles an hour and she got all light-headed. He was also a wonderful friend, always there for anyone when things got rough or someone was just having a bad day, he would listen to them and not judge them. And he was a shoulder to cry on too

Flashback

Mikaela sat in an abandoned warehouse she had discovered awhile ago where she could come to sometimes to think, right now she couldn’t stop thinking. She realized how hard life was; her living by herself, her mother dead, her father in jail, school, trying to support herself, fighting constantly with Sam, helping the Autobots, suffering from nightmares about Mission City, her job, everything. As her motto went ‘Life’s a bitch’, and she stood by her motto never contradicting it.

Suddenly Mikaela heard a noise and turned her head to see a red and blue semi peterbilt, with flames on the side, drive into the warehouse and stop, she watched as it began to change and in its place was Optimus Prime, the leader of the Autobots. He noticed her sitting by herself and walked over to her

“There you are Mikaela, I’ve been looking for you” he told her as he stopped and leant against the wall, Mikaela sighed

“Great, you found me, whoopdy do” she said sarcastically.

Optimus frowned knowing something was troubling the young human

“What’s wrong?” he asked her, Mikaela shook her head

“Nothing” she lied and Optimus saw right through that

“I may not know everything about you Mikaela Banes, but I know well enough to know when you’re lying” he told her.

Mikaela sighed realizing it was no use trying to hide something from a god knows how old Autobot

“It’s everything” she began, Optimus didn’t say anything so she continued “I just… everything’s hard, life I mean. Well you should know all about that, what with being 10 millennia or something. It’s just hard. I mean with mom dead when I was 10, dad in jail and his parole coming up, trying to financially support myself and balancing school life and a job, it’s so frustrating. Sam and I are beginning to fight more over the lack of time we spend together and such.

And then…and then there’s my nightmares, every night I wake up screaming from having nightmares about Mission City and everything that happened and I keep dreaming that Bee never made it, you never caught Sam when he fell from the abandoned warehouse rooftop and that I was killed and everyone was killed and the Decepticons managed to defeat us and rule the world and everyone else was all doomed. I can’t cope, it’s too hard I just…” Mikaela trailed off, now she was crying.

Optimus hadn’t said anything throughout the whole confession, he had just listened as Mikaela revealed everything she was going through and it was slowly tearing him up inside to see her like this. Optimus didn’t say anything, he eased himself to floor and picked Mikaela up gently and held her against him. And that was it, Mikaela burst into tears and cried her heart out as Optimus held her making soothing sounds.

End Flashback

The sound of the school bell signaled that there was one period to go before the end of the school day, sighing Mikaela got up out of her chair, packed her things away and left the classroom. As she headed to her last class she was so caught up in her thoughts that she didn’t see someone was heading in her direction until it was too late. Mikaela crashed into the person and was sent sprawling to the floor

“Oh my god, Mikaela are you okay?” she heard a familiar voice ask her.

Mikaela looked up to see her ex-boyfriend and now best friend Sam Witwicky standing above her holding out his hand in an offer to help her up, she took it and he pulled her up off the floor

“Yeah I’m fine, Sam” she replied as she smiled at him

“I was looking for you, I just got an SMS from Optimus saying that he’s here” Sam told her, Mikaela frowned

“Already?” she asked him and he nodded, Mikaela grinned and took off running for the front doors

“Mikaela we have class” Sam called after her but she burst out the front doors.

She saw the red and blue semi peterbilt sitting across the road from the school, she ran down the front lawn and looked both ways before running across the road. The door of the peterbilt opened and she climbed up inside and the door swung shut behind her

“I thought you had school” a voice said to her and she giggled

“It’s one class I’m missing, Optimus” she replied to the Autobot’s leader Optimus Prime “just drive” she added.

The engine roared to life and they drove down the road. Mikaela wound down the window and lent out as Optimus drove them away from the school, just then Mikaela’s cell rang, she pulled it out, saw it was Sam and she answered it

“Hey Sam” she said as Optimus took a left onto a highway and the speed increased

“Mikaela why the hell did you ditch me?” Sam asked her slightly annoyed and slightly amused causing Mikaela to laugh

“Couldn’t wait” she replied as she lent back out and stroked Optimus’ door, a groan was emitted and she laughed “besides I couldn’t leave Optimus waiting” she added as Optimus pulled off the highway and into an open field

“Alright have fun” Sam said and hung up.

Mikaela hung up and got out of the cab as Optimus transformed back into his robotic form which stood at 30 ft tall, Mikaela turned back to look at him grinning

“Race ya” she said and began running even though she wore her high heels.

Mikaela heard Optimus laugh and give chase and she laughed as she continued to run through the open field, they did this sometimes just to let loose and just be themselves acting like a pair of idiots away from everyone and not having to worry about anything. Mikaela sped down the sloping hill and then slipped and tumbled screaming all the while, she heard Optimus sliding and calling after her. Once she hit the bottom, however, she got up and took off running. Mikaela heard Optimus growl and laugh which caused her to fall into fits of laughter as she tripped over a rock and collapsed to the ground laughing, she rolled over onto her back laughing as Optimus dropped down beside her also laughing. The human and the robot lay laughing in the grassy field, not talking just laughing. After about another 5 minutes, their laughter died down and Mikaela began humming her favorite song. Optimus smiled when he heard Mikaela begin to hum and tried to search for the instrumental version of the song so she could sing it.

It took him a while but he managed to find it and played it, he watched Mikaela as the music started. Mikaela looked over at him, smiled and began to sing

As the song ended, neither moved Mikaela’s hand still stroking Optimus’ metal cheek before lowering her lips to his metal ones. The kiss was gentle yet passion over took and the kiss grew more hungrier, Mikaela realized Optimus felt the same as he kissed her back with such intensity. Suddenly they both heard shouts, the kiss broke and Mikaela turned her head as Optimus raised his when they saw the paparazzi. Mikaela, having no idea how the paparazzi found them and knowing she and Optimus were likely to make tomorrow's headlines or tonight's news, scrambled off of Optimus and they both jumped up and bolted, and as they did remnants of a song blared from Optimus as they ran
