Intro

"Field Trip!" the kids yelled. It was Early May and the school year was ending. The teachers, out of sympathy of the seniors going to high school, decided to let the eighth graders go on a Field Trip to Wild Adventures. This was what the band class had been waiting for sense the sixth grade...

...Ayu could really care less. She had lost her best friend at the beginning of the year, causing her to become depressed whenever she saw her. Unfortunately, they'd been in the same band class sense the first day of Middle school. She seemed to cry everyday about it. The thought that she didn't have anyone to comfort her during thunderstorms or someone to help with her stories made her feel empty inside.

She blankly stared out the window as one of her 'friends' touched her shoulder. "Ayu...are you alright?" a girl's voice asked behind her. "We're on a field trip, be happy!" Ayu didn't even look at her. "Go to hell Lisa." she said, sighing and turning on her iPod.

Lisa, the other girl she'd known all of her band career. They were both flutes, both wore glasses, and both were strange to the rest of the mainly black school. Ayu, because she's a depressed psychotic Emo girl, and Lisa because she's still into kiddy stuff. She liked horses, books (A LOT.), and Heart. Now, Ayu liked to read and was into old rock but, you could at least shut her up about it! Lisa was only born with a big mouth, an on switch, and a 'FUCKING LOUD!!' volume switch. No off or low button.

Ayu started lip-sinking the lyrics to Fall out Boy's CD, 'Infinity On high'. Now that was something she could be proud of, her voice. She may suck huge amounts of ass at the flute but, at least she could sing. She switched to the song 'Friends Forever' by Puffy Ami Yumi, Her and Nari's favorite song. She started crying and leaned her head on the window as she heard someone coming up.

"Ayu! You cut your hair!" a girl her age exclaimed. "Uh, duh..." she snapped, turning around.” I’ve had it cut sense Ap-" she stopped and looked up. It couldn't be...She was in a different state. "Miho??" she asked. The girl smiled and sat next to her. "Hi!" Ayu looked at her, eyes bulging. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?!" she yelled.

This got the attention of her Ex-friend, Nari; "Ayu...are you..." she looked at Miho.”MIHO!!" she yelled. Eve held her ears, one thing she learned was, and Nari had a VERY annoying voice. "Hi Nari...sorry, Mai couldn't make it..." Eve looked back at Miho. "How did you get here anyway?" she asked. "That's not important now!" Miho said. "I have to warn you guys! Everyone's in danger!"

"Danger?" Ayu asked. "What danger?" Her eyelids started to get heavy. "The bastards...it's started..." Miho mumbled. "Wha?" Eve asked before leaning on her chair with her back and closing her eyes.

Chapter One: Prelude

"Miho?" Ayu asked, looking around. Her gaze stopped next to her. She looked at her neck; there was familiar metal collar around her neck. "Oh shit..." she whispered, looking around. She looked at Nari, she had one too! She looked at Lisa, then Hito, a clarinet she was friends with, they both had one!

She slowly inched her hand to her neck and heard the sound of her long nails clanging against metal. She started shacking Miho. "Miho, MIHO!" she yelled, as she started to stir. "Oh no! Not now!" Miho yelled, looking at her. "It's started!" Nari started to wake up, so did Hito, she was next to her. "You mean we're in a..." Ayu said scared. "Yeah, we are." Miho said. "What? What’s starting?" Nari asked. "Yeah, and what are these necklaces anyway?" Hito asked too.

Then, a loud voice in Japanese yelled in what sounded like a military order as a young woman walked onto the bus.

She looked around at the students and smiled. As she spoke in Japanese, Miho translated for Eve and the rest of the group. "Hello. I suppose you are all wondering where you are...You're on Okishima Island. You lucky brats have been chosen for the new American Battle Royale. For those of you bastard children that don't watch the news, in a BR program, you must kill your own classmates to survive."

The class gasped and all looked at Ayu. They all assumed that sense she was a little crazy, she'd kill them all. "...if I really wanted to kill you all I would've tried sooner..." she mumbled.

"Now..." she lady continued.” We’ll be giving you a survival kit. This kit has water, rations, and a weapon." she looked around. "And not just guns or swords, it's random. Maybe you'll get a paper fan!" she laughed, referring to a former participant. Ayu glared at her and thought, this lady was just like her history teacher...Satan's spawn. Nari and Hito would probably agree, as they looked at the teacher with hate.

"Alright...any questions?" she asked, looking around. "Yes?" she said, as Nari raised her hand.

"Umm...where's our teacher?" she asked, Miho translating for both of them.

She smiled evilly. "He’s under our care..."

"Kidnapped, most likely..." Ayu mumbled, watching one of the soldiers. He seemed...familiar...where had she seen him? His skin seemed darker than the rest of the Asian soldiers. “Hmmm..."

"Now...time to begin!" she said, sounding cheery as she grabbed their teacher's call out sheet. "Men! Pass out their bags, they'll need them..." she yelled as the soldier Eve had been watching passed out their bags. Ayu tried to get a good look at his face but he was hiding it with his cap. "Asshole..." she mumbled as she held her bag and looked at Lisa and the rest of her friends and pulled out a map. She pointed at what looked like a resort on the map. "We'll all meet there, ok? It's E-4, don't forget..."She said, Nari, Amy (the other flute.), Lisa, and Miho nodding.

Chapter two:

Ayu watched as her classmates filed out one by one out of the bus and onto the island. Now that the shock had worn off and she inspected the interior of the bus carefully, as she did with EVERYTHING, she noticed they weren’t in the bus they had come in before. Instead of the usually cheap yellow school bus, they were in a fancier bus with TVs on the ceiling and even a restroom in the back! (not to mention seatbelts that never came with normal American school buses.)

She turned back to the front and watched as one of her classmates, a trombone player, tripped and fell during his mad dash to the front of the bus. It was then a part of her brain kicked in and realized this was really happening, and not some sick dream. Ayu whipped her head around and watched her classmates now pale faces, seeing them finally as equals, how could they think she’d kill them? She stared out at them, this might be the last time she’ll ever see them again.

Or worse, they might be the last thing she will ever see…but it was definitely the last time she’d see some of them as her friends…how many friends did you have? She’d never really thought of that, she’d never really hung out with her friends before, and now she might never. No, don’t think like that!

“…next up is…Ayu Kiddo.” The woman said with a smirk. She had been calling out names for the past hour. As Ayu walked towards the administrator, the woman sneered. "Kiddo, huh?" the woman asked sarcastically. "...how nice, the daughter of an assassin..." Ayu only glared up at her, tightly holding onto her things as she left the bus.

Chapter three: the start

12:00 P.M.

. : The Game begins:.

Ayu sighed and walked out of the bus (A-2), the smell of lover's blood still in the air. She knew the others couldn't smell it, it was too faint to tell, and she mumbled some prayer for the 40 people long sense dead and started to walk east. After a while she stopped the smell much stronger at a group of rocks (B-4). She swore she could see the blood all around as she stepped over to a mound and found a pair of numb chucks.

"Couldn't be..." she said as she picked it up and found a paper fan sitting on a branch in a low hanging tree. She ran over to it and grabbed it; it was torn and seemed old. She gasped and looked around again. "It is...this is real...he's real..." Ayu thought deeply, remembering a person she'd saw before.

Chapter four: Nari’s side

"Where the heck is everybody??" she yelled, looking around at the room (E-4). "Ohhh..." she said, running over to what looked like a dusty laptop. She sat down and wiped the screen off with her sleeve and began to turn it on. "Chu? What’s this?" she asked, opening a program. "The...Third...Man..." she said slowly, trying to read the kanji’s. "...sounds like a video game!"

"NARI!!" a girl yelled as she turned around and gasped before looking depressed. "Miho...don't scare me like that..." she mumbled as the blue haired girl walked over to her and looked at the screen. “Uh...Nari, don't mess with that program..." she said cautiously. "Why not?" Nari asked, staring at the cartoon boy on the screen make a thumbs up. "Just don't..."

Nari sighed as she stared out the window, sitting back in a chair she found, flipping through postcards she could barely read correctly. "So...is Ayu gonna go crazy and actually play this game?" Miho asked, looking at a necklace on the table. It had been a year sense she had last talked to her face to face, and she had said on the e-mails that a lot of people hated her in her classes, apparently Nari included.

"I doubt it, Ayu doesn’t like a lot of people at the school but she's not really the kind to kill, she isn't strong enough." Nari winced, remembering the time she kicked the chair at her best friend, Kitsune, she had almost tried to beat her up when Ayu ran out of the room but Kit stopped her and calmed her down. What was her problem? She had being an ass to her sense she came back from her trip to Alabama...what was wrong with her?

Nari…NARI!!” Miho yelled, bringing her friend back to reality. “Huh, what?” she asked, looking around. “So what now?” she asked as Nari saw a small hand knock on the window.

Sub-Chapter five: Ayu returns

Guys, open up!” She yelled, knocking on the window, seeing Miho jump, Nari staring at her. “Please…” she moaned as the taller (Nari) girl walked towards her and opened the window and held her hand out. “Thanks…” She mumbled as she jumped into the room, looking around. “This is all real…” she said, looking down. Nari tilted her head at her as Miho looked at her. “Huh?” she asked and Ayu pulled out an old paper fan, making miho gasp. “t-that’s…” Ayu nodded. “Yea…its Kazuo Kiriyama’s…or was…” Nari blinked. “Who?” she asked. Ayu sighed and looked down. “…let me explain…”

Chapter six: the search for Lisa

Wow…so that’s what happened…” Nari said at last, after Ayu had explained one of the Battle Royales to her. “…so what happened to Shuya?” Miho looked up from her shoes. “He’s a terrorist.” she stated.

WHAT?!” Nari yelled, shocked.

Miho only nodded to her. Ayu sighed. “…I can’t believe this…” she mumbled, and then stood straight up. “Where’s Lisa…” she said determinedly. Nari gasped, she was probably…no, she couldn’t… “The crazy horse girl?” Miho asked. “…I don’t know…” Ayu sighed and picked up her bag. “I’m going to find her; you guys stay here…” she said, walking out the door. “Wait, Ayu!” Miho yelled, but it was too late…

“…Lisa…you idiot…” Ayu mumbled angrily as she trekked through the island. She failed to notice the faint sound of footsteps behind her, it was Miho. “You better be alive…so that I can rip your tongue out and strangle you with it!” Ayu was a fairly violent individual, no one knows quite why, they just deal with it.

After literally hours of walking, Ayu came to a stop in the woods. She looked around like a hunter searching for its prey until her gaze stopped at one of the bushes. “…what the…” it couldn’t be…the game must me getting to her…it sounded like…music. No wait, flute music! “Lisa!” Ayu gasped in shock and dived into the bushes. Ayu looked up through the leaves to see a girl with short brown hair and glasses, holding up a flute, music papers at her feet. “Lisa, you idiot!” Ayu yelled, wrenching the flute from Lisa’s grasp. “Hey…that’s mine…” she replied in her usually annoying way. “This is serious! We’re all stuck here and you’re PLAYING THE DAMN FLUTE!” Ayu growled, throwing the flute deep into the woods. “MY FLUTE!!” Lisa screamed, starting running into the forest until Ayu grabbed the back of her shirt. “Now come on…Nari and the rest are worried about you…although I can’t see why…”

well…here we are…” Ayu sighed, looking up at the ruined resort. “…it’s not much…but it’ll withstand bullets, at least…so it’s better than nothing.” the resort was fairly old and over grown, except for one part where they were standing. The grass around it was bright and healthy, but the wall in front of them was charred and black, maybe a fire from one of the Battle Royales, most likely. “hey…do you see that?” lisa asked, pointing to her right. “huh?” Ayu turned and saw a wooden stick in the ground surrounded by worn item; a box of photos, two mis-matched earrings, and various metal collars; the wood itself was covered in writing. “…I can’t read it…” Ayu knelt down to inspect the monument.

To the students of Class 3-B, Shiroiwa Junior High School. That’s what it says…” Ayu turned and gasped. “Miho, don’t do that!” she yelled. “you nearly gave me a heart attack!” Miho gave a grin and knelt down next to Ayu. “sorry…it’s just that…seeing this…”

“…it’s weird, I know…” Ayu sighed and stared blankly at the wood pole. “…I always thought he was pretty cool…” she giggled softly, almost forcing to.

“who?”

“Nanahara, what he’s doing…it’s so amazing…” Ayu turned to Miho. “…I’d never be able to do something like that…”

“…I bet he probably made this too…”
