a/n: this is a short little one-shot that I wrote. I am going though really bad writer’s block, so I’m sorry if it sucks! Reviews?

This one-shot is dedicated to the movie HOW TO LOSE A GUY IN 10 DAYS for having the dress that I used in this story! I love that movie…

The Perfect Occasion

Yuki paced back and forth, across his living room. He stopped, sending a slight glare at the closed door at the end of the hallway. The door went to Tohru’s bedroom; his girlfriend’s bedroom. Yuki and Tohru had confessed their love for each other the summer before senior year. After school, they bought an apartment together.

That was about ten years ago. This is now.

Yuki, dressed in a black tuxedo, continued to pace the length of the living room. He was taking Tohru to one of the fanciest restaurants in the entire city. This dinner was to celebrate a special occasion, an occasion only he knew about. Tohru had been completely left in the dark about the occasion and was only told to dress in her best clothes.

Yuki growled slightly, getting impatient. Why was Tohru taking so long? He stopped pacing, sending a soft glare at the door again and suddenly wishing he had the power of x-ray vision. However, he doesn’t. He turned on heel and stormed down the hallway to Tohru’s room. He stopped when he reached it, sighing to calm himself down before knocking lightly on the wooden door.

“Tohru? Are you ready yet?”

There was a little bit of rustling from the other side of the door before Yuki got his answer.

“Almost. When’s the dinner reservation?” she asked, making sure she wasn’t running late.

“7:00.” Yuki replied, leaning against the wall next to the door and sighing again.

“What time is it?”

“6:00 but it takes 50 minutes to get there. I really don’t want to be late.” Yuki explained.

“Okay, fine. I’m coming out.”

Yuki smiled, backing away from the wall and standing across from the door. The door opened and Yuki’s heart stopped, his breath catching in his throat. Yuki stood in a floor-length, gold dress. Her hair was put up in a loose bun, strands of hair framing her face; the perfect frame for the perfect picture. His eyes traveled her body, noticing that the dress fit her body gorgeously.

“Are you going to say anything?” Tohru asked politely and quietly, blushing a deep red-ish color. She hated the attention and the intensity of his stare.

“Twirl.”

“Excuse me?”

Yuki rolled his eyes, “Twirl. You know, turn slowly in place.”

Tohru smiled, realizing what he meant, “Oh. Right. Sure.” She spun slowly, her eyes never leaving Yuki’s face. When he saw her back, his jaw dropped slightly. The back of the dress was non-existent. There were two pieces of fabric that crossed each other near the bottom of her back, but, other than that, there wasn’t anything else. His eyes traveled her back, his mind wandering. He mentally slapped himself, back to reality as Tohru turned back to face him.

“Is it too much?” She asked, wondering if she should go and change into something less-formal. Yuki had said to wear her most fancy clothes, but was this too much.

“Of course not. The dress is…perfect for the occasion.” Yuki chuckled, feeling a rush of power; he knew everything when she didn’t.

“And the occasion is…?” she asked, trailing off in a question.

Yuki chuckled again, extending his left hand for Tohru to take, “That is for me to know, and for you to find out.”

Tohru took his hand, smiling ever so slightly as they started down the hallway and towards the door, “When will I get to know the occasion?” she asked, looking at Yuki with eyes filled with curiosity. She reminded him of a small child that was wondering what they were getting for their birthday. However, this occasion was much more important than a simple birthday.

“Soon.” Yuki’s reply was barely a whisper.

Tohru noticed his change in voice, “Are you okay, Yuki?”

Yuki smiled, his eyes filled with love, “Yes. I’m perfectly perfect, Tohru.”

Tohru rolled her eyes, turning back towards the front door to their apartment, “Okay then. Whatever you say.” Her voice dripped with sarcasm.

Yuki smiled, his right hand (the one that isn’t holding hands with Tohru) reaching deep into the right, front pocket of his trousers. His grin widened as he found what he was looking for. He then let go of it completely, his hand coming back out of his pocket as if nothing had happened.

Actually,” Yuki thought to himself, remembering the feeling of the ring; the engagement ring, “It’s whatever you answer…”
