AN: Written for and dedicated to , enjoy all! If you're fanatical about the Twilight series, like I am, see if you can spot the two quotes from there, which I kinda butchered by adding to it and making it fit the context, but the basis of them are there.

Taking it easy, I see?” said Jack, stepping out through the security door that led into the Hub itself. “Well, at least someone has the right idea. Whatcha doing there, Sport?”
“‘Sport’?” said Ianto. “Not sure I like ‘Sport’ as a term of endearment. ‘Sexy’ is good, if unimaginative. ‘Pumpkin’ is a bit much, but ‘Sport’? No. You’ll have to think of another one.”
“Ok, Tiger Pants. Whatcha doing?”

Ianto gripped the edges of the toilet as he emptied his breakfast into the white, ceramic bowl. It’s prefect white edges reflected the light from the ceiling and seemed to taunt him at his lack of wholesomeness, his lack of perfection, his lack of…

Ianto angrily slammed the lid of the toilet down and got up to wash his hands. His haunted reflection ceased to bother him now, the dark circles under his eyes every much a part of him now as his name, now that he was gone, nothing really seemed to matter now. He rid his mouth of the extra vomit by wiping it on his suit sleeve, inwardly cringing at the thought.

The feel of Jack’s hands was like fire through Ianto as they danced across his back as he pulled Ianto closer to him.
“I want you so bad” Jack whispered in his ear.
“You could have waited till we got home or the others left you know” Ianto said, secretly pleased that Jack had risked his job, their jobs just to grope him in his office.
“I want you now” Jack whispered in his other ear, smirking when he saw Ianto shiver.
“Well, if you want me – you better do it properly, I’m not settling for some half-hearted attempt. I want to see some stamina here.”
“Stamina… Well I see, then...” He pulled Ianto up to him roughly and crushed their lips together. Demanding entrance to Ianto’s mouth and pushing him against the wall.

Ianto tucked the bag from Starbucks under his arm as he made his way into the Hub.

“Hey Ianto” Gwen said as she came out the kitchen with a cup of coffee in hand, “Today’s going to be quiet. Do you mind sitting it out in the Tourist Office? I would but you’re the most experienced with it and-”

“Don’t worry about it Gwen” Ianto forced a smile. “I’ll be fine. I used to do it all the time”

“Cheers Ianto!” Gwen yelled as the door to the Hub closed behind him.

Settling himself down at the desk, he opened the bag from Starbucks and began to munch absently on a baguette.

“One for me and one for you.” Jack said fishing two Minstrels out the bag and putting them on the desk in front of Ianto.
“And what do you want me to do with them Jack? Look at them?” Ianto asked sarcastically.
“You’re already doing that.” Jack said with a roll of his eyes. “This is a game an ex-boyfriend of mine liked to play. Each of us takes a minstrel and we have to finish it as quickly as possible.” At Ianto’s bemused expression, he added, “Without chewing.”
“This is lame Jack…”
“Do it? For me?” Jack said using those puppy dog eyes on him.
“Fine, fine.”
Popping the chocolate in his mouth on Jack’s countdown he began to suck at the sweet.
“Finished.” Jack said grinning and opening his mouth to show Ianto that it was indeed minstrel-less.“You cheated! How else would you have done it so fast?”
“I, have an excellent sucking technique.” Jack said, looking pleased with himself. “Care for a demonstration?”

For the second time that day, Ianto found himself on the floor in front of a toilet throwing up.

“Ianto..? Ianto..? You’ve been in there a while… You OK, mate?” Owen’s voice filtered through the door.

“Yeah, I’m fine Owen. I’ll be out in a minute.”

“You better be - I’m bursting for a piss.”

What about him made him leave? What had he done? The one man, he’d grown to rely on, to trust and to love. The first person he’d ever truly opened his heart to. And now what? And now he decided he didn’t like what he saw. Was he that much of a bastard?

To go back on every promise you’ve ever made to someone. To leave them behind, knowing that they were in love with you, knowing that you were taking a piece of their heart with you, to know that by leaving them behind you were breaking it. Not in two, but twisting, maiming and shattering it so that it would be impossible for anyone else to repair. To leave them, splintered to their very core but still yearning for you, for your love, for your touch. To leave them knowing that your face will haunt them everyday for the rest of their life. To leave them... Why?

“Ianto?.. Ianto?”

“Don’t shake him Gwen, the sedation’s wearing off now.”

“I’m so worried. I knew him and Jack were sleeping together but this? This?”

“If you’re going to be hysterical Gwen, go somewhere else.”

“Look, he’s awake.” Tosh said, ever the voice of reason.

“Gwen?” Ianto asked sleepily. “Tosh?” He asked, catching sight of her. “Owen? What happened?”

“You passed out” Owen said as he shone a torch in Ianto’s eyes, “And then I sedated you.”

“I think” Jack said, creeping up behind Ianto and wrapping his arms round his waist, “That you want me.”

“What? Why?” Ianto said, pulling himself to sit up, only to find three hands on him pushing him back down onto the bed.

“I needed to run some tests – obviously you haven’t been well for a while.” Owen said as he took Ianto’s temperature. “As you can guess Torchwood looks after their employees, why not tell us sooner?”

“I thought it was a stomach bug.” Ianto lied.

“You know no one believes you right?” Owen said ushering the girls out of his room. “We all know it’s because Ja-” He paused looking at Ianto’s face. “Because he left. We just didn’t think that you two were that close. Or that this mess could happen.” Owen said, muttering the last sentence.

“What mess?” Ianto asked, eying Owen suspiciously.

“Well, I guess you were going to find out eventually by yourself” Owen said, raking a hand through his hair. He pulled up a stool next to the head of Ianto’s bed.

“Captain,” Ianto murmured, “I do believe you are receiving mixed signals. Your ego is way too big for its own good.”

“You’re pregnant.”

“What?” Ianto whispered, his eyes urgent. “How? When?”

“Well, you’re about 5 months pregnant now. Here,” He said as he pulled a picture from an ultrasound scan out of his lab coat pocket.

“Obviously, it’s J-his ”

“I love you, you know.” Jack said, turning Ianto round to see his face.

Entranced by the blurry black and white photograph in his hands, his eyes connecting lines till the rough shape of a baby could be formed.
Even if he buried him, deep in his past, he would never be truly gone. Ianto took a deep breath to steady himself as he’d been doing over the last few months.

“How did you find out?” Ianto asked Owen, “I mean, what made you test me for being pregnant?”

“Well, I found you passed out in the toilet and called Tosh and Gwen for help. There weren’t any physical symptoms apart from you having a slight temperature – nothing irregular. So I did a blood test. Nothing out of the ordinary there either, but something made me check the hormone levels. Well, let’s say you have enough oestrogen in your system for Gwen and Tosh at the moment and still have the normal levels present in pregnant women.”

“And I love you too Jack.” Ianto sincerely replied.

“Wow...” Ianto said his hands instinctively heading for his stomach, seeking out the life that he now knew was growing there.

“I’m also slightly confused as to how you got pregnant though.” Owen said.

“You think you’re the only one?” Ianto asked.

“Yeah, sorry, I keep on forgetting…”

“It doesn’t seem real – I just keep thinking I’m going to wake up any minute now.”

A pregnant pause fell between the two of them as they sat in a contemplative silence.

“So have you got any theories then Owen?” Ianto asked, desperate for answers.

“Well, Jack is a pretty messed up human, we don’t really understand his physical make up yet but, I don’t think it’s possible for him to get people pregnant. I know he got pregnant once, centuries ago and on another planet but I can only think of him using an alien artefact to impregnate you. But that’s very unlikely because Jack’s not the type to look for responsibility.” Owen mused to himself. “Unless..? How often did you two have sex?”

Feeling overwhelmed by the memories that he’d tried so hard to forget recently, he tried to forget about who he had sex with and focused on just when. Ignoring the blush that rose to his cheeks, in favour of finding out how this phenomenon occurred, he answered the question as accurately as possible, “About two, three times a day.”

“Bloody hell!” Ianto said, “You lucky bugger. I normally get laid twice a w-”

“Yeah, thanks for the details Owen, but I really do not need to know about your sex life.”

“Yeah, so that was probably it. I think you two were probably friskier than any of Jack’s other partners, which says something considering he’s had hundreds.”

So that was why he kept him around.

“So why am I pregnant?”

“Well, at the moment I’m guessing that it was a combination of factors: you guys had lots of sex and then Jack or you probably reacted to something alien in the environment – especially with you down in the Archives a lot of the time – it was bound to happen. Anyway, I’ll leave you for a bit,” Owen said as he took his lab coat off, “You probably need some time to yourself to think.”

Ianto heard Owen’s footsteps fade away, leaving him alone in the room. A baby? Why? Was this his calling card? Reminding him forever of what he once had? Did he know he had a baby on the way? How would he manage? Abort it? The more he thought about it, the more he knew he would have to have this baby. It would just be cruel not to… He’d have to change his lifestyle drastically, but…

“Ianto?” Tosh’s quiet voice disturbed his thoughts. “Ianto, I just came to say I know the next four months, hell, the next year or two are going to be hard for you, but you have us – the team. We’ll be there for you, I know you’re probably scared shitless right now, but that’s what friends are for, right?”

Ianto turned to smile at her, to thank her, but she’d gone. Ianto wasn’t sure how long he lay there in silence contemplating his situation, but he appreciated the solitude the team were letting him have. He had so many unanswered questions. What would he do for work? How would he cope when he started showing? Would they let him into the field or would he go back to being a tea-boy?

“Fucking Jack,” he muttered darkly under his breath, “Come and goes when he likes, never a thought or a care for anyone else but him.”

A month had passed, and Ianto found himself on the floor of his bathroom, vomiting into the toilet.

“I swear this was only supposed to happen for the first few months.” He muttered darkly to himself.

The team had decided to keep Ianto on as long as he wasn’t showing and at six months, his bump was so small, no-one could see it under his shirt. He was usually kept inside the Hub and not allowed out, in the field any more. His desk had been moved so it was situated next to Owen’s who could keep an eye on him and the baby.

Ianto threw himself into his work; not realising he was over-exerting himself, to used to the constant pain that always surrounded his heart and fogged his once clear mind.

Tired beyond belief, Ianto drove home slowly and reached home late, knowing he’d have to be back at work in a few hours. The team had found another fish-like alien who had stolen a red sports car and were chasing him now. Since he was pregnant he wouldn’t have been allowed to join in the fun anyway, so did the sensible thing and went home to rest.

Rushing to the bathroom as he felt another bout of “morning” sickness come over him, he abruptly vomited into the toilet. A wave of nausea and tiredness washed over him and he leaned against the bathroom wall for support. “I’ll just stay here for a while,” he muttered before he promptly passed out.

“Ianto?” a voice called, “Ianto? It’s me! Jack! Ianto! I know you’re home your car’s out-”. The voice suddenly cut off but when it spoke again it was much closer. “Oh my God! Ianto! Can you hear me? It’s OK – I’ll call an ambulance! Ianto? Stay with me!”

“I don’t think you understand Jack” Ianto heard a voice say as he swam between consciousness and unconsciousness. “You can’t stay – it’ll be no good for him.”

“But I have to! I’m responsible.” Argued that beautiful, hypnotic voice.

“If you were responsible Jack. You wouldn’t have left without saying goodbye.” The other voice accused. “My God Jack. You really are naïve aren’t you? You think you can just waltz back into his life, kiss him on the cheek, fuck him a couple of times and everything will be back to normal? You didn’t see him when you left him Jack! The man was devastated!”

“That wasn’t my fault!” Jack said. “I tried to come back, I really did! But you think it was fun being away for me too? You think I enjoyed myself? Gwen, I died hundreds of times in a day! I was locked up and tortured to the point of death and then I was brought back again and again and again! I never would have left if I could have avoided it and if I had, I would have come back as soon as possible. I love him Gwen! Can’t you see that?”

“If you love him so much, you stay away from him.” Gwen warned, “You have no idea how much pain you’ve caused him. When you left, he went back to work, he ate and he slept. He answered when someone asked him a direct question. But he was... empty. His eyes were blank, lifeless. There were lots of little things – he wouldn’t listen to music anymore while making coffee, he never read in the Tourist Office - just sat there in silence, he wouldn’t be in the same room when the TV was on, not that he watched it much before. I finally figured it out – he was avoiding everything that reminded him of you.”

She paused for breath before continuing, “We would hardly talk; I was so worried about saying something that would upset him – the littlest things would make him flinch – and he never volunteered anything. He was alone all the time. No days off whatsoever, not late in Monday mornings with a hangover. And he never slept, he’d come in with dark shadows under his eyes and sometimes he’d drop off here, at his desk. And then the screaming would start – it was like night of the living dead round here. It’s only the last few months he’s been getting better, I think the b-”. She cut herself off before she could reveal too much.

Ianto could imagine Jack’s tortured, horrified expression, behind his closed eyes, but before he could gather up the energy to open his heavy lids and see whether or not he was dreaming, he felt himself succumb to the drugs in his system again.

A sterile, bright light shone down into Ianto’s face and he blinked, letting his eyes adjust to the room.

“Where am I?” He asked blearily sitting up.

“Hey.” Gwen said, “You’re fine. You’re in hospital.”

“Huh? Why? Do they know about the baby?” Ianto began to panic.

“No, Owen told them you had… Er… That you had… Anyway, it was some rare disease that he found, so they can’t give you any X-rays, MRIs or any drugs or things that pregnant women can’t have, so you’re covered.”

“Was anyone else here earlier?” Ianto asked.

“No, Owen and Tosh popped by earlier – but they’ve gone back to The Hub to sort some, er, things out.”

“Really? I thought I heard another voice earlier…” He trailed off, missing the look of concern that flashed across Gwen’s face before she could hide it. “My mistake, I must have imagined it.” He relaxed back into the bed. “So why am I here anyway?”

Two days later, Ianto was discharged from hospital and driven home by a highly animated Gwen.

“Now, Ianto, I want you to know – we did this with the best intentions, but we’ve decided to restrict your office hours – this means that you’ll only be working Tuesday and Thursday –”

“But, that’s not fair Gwen!” Ianto interrupted, “I’m not going to get paid as much! How am I going to support my child?”

“Yes, yes, we know, so we’re not going to tell head office. I’m sure Tosh’ll find some old CCTV footage she can re-use and make up some of the files that you should be working on. From now on – it’ll be rest, rest, rest for you. Just what the doctor ordered.” She parked outside Ianto’s flat and moved round the passenger side to help him out.

“Honestly, Gwen, I’m fine – I don’t need any help.”

“Whatever. Just quit whining so we can get you inside.”

“So, eh. How’s this arrangement going to be working then?” Ianto said as he flopped down on his sofa.

“Well, you’re not working five days of the week, so each day one of the team’ll be round to check on you – spend a couple of hours here, so you don’t get bored and end up talking to the walls.”

“Right.” Ianto said.

“Just to avoid future situations that’ll get you hospitalised again.” Gwen said pointedly as she walked through from the kitchen with a mug of coffee and a mug of herbal tea.

“Urgh.” Ianto said as he tasted a sip of the tea she had given him. “What is this god-awful stuff?” Putting it down, moving to make himself a cup of coffee.

“Sit down Ianto, coffee is bad for the baby – so I had Tosh buy some herbal tea and bring it round for you.” Gwen said, chuckling at Ianto’s reaction as she sipped her own coffee.

Groaning, Ianto picked up the foul smelling drink and reluctantly began to sip it.

Monday morning and not having to drag himself out of bed was something he could get used to. He woke at 10 and padded to the kitchen to make himself a cup of coffee, to find that Gwen had taken it all and replaced it with the disgusting herbal tea.

“Bloody, fucking great.” Ianto muttered as he boiled the kettle. He got dressed, instead of staying at home, like he’d been ordered and went to the local DVD rental store to stop himself getting bored.

It was 3 o’clock when Tosh arrived with two giant pizzas. “Hey Ianto!” she said as she stepped into his house, “I thought you’d appreciate these.” She said, gesturing to the boxes, “How are you?”

“It’s been… boring” Ianto said gesturing to the stack of horror films he had rented. “I’ve watched all of them already.”

“What’d you rent?” Tosh asked, interested as she began to flick through the titles: Saw, The Blair Witch Project, The Messengers, 28 Days Later… Nothing romantic or remotely happy, she noted, “I’m surprised you can stomach this kind of stuff Ianto, though in our line of work this is what we get on a daily basis I guess.”

Tuesday morning came and Ianto could not wait to get into work. It gave him something to do, instead of sitting at home all day doing nothing. He went in early, before any of the others got there, and went home late – when Gwen kicked him out. His life was adopting a routine that he was growing to hate: Go to work, Stay home, Go to work, Stay home… Ianto was becoming so focused on his work – he’d forgotten how to live. He’d not noticed the tiny hints around the office, indicating Jack’s presence: his office was now a mess, but since Ianto never ventured upstairs, not now he’d gone he never noticed, the extra mug in the sink that had to be washed up, the extra stack of paperwork in the meeting room…

Some things stayed the same though, he never spoke of him and no-one mentioned him around him. Ianto started becoming more social and the team could tell that he was reverting back to the old Ianto, slowly but surely. Maybe you can fix a broken heart.

The only, real thing that kept Ianto going was the baby, it made him get up in the mornings, made him look forward to the next day. As Owen said, “The baby was saving his life.”

The baby began to develop a lot faster and Ianto began to wear baggy clothes or jackets that concealed his bump. 2 months later, one Tuesday morning, Ianto drove in early, eager to get to work, eager for something to do. Hours later, Tosh, Owen and Gwen drifted in, not surprised to see Ianto there so early.

“Hey Ianto.” He looked up to see Gwen walking towards him, “Could you do me a favour and find this for me in the archives?” She pointed to the picture on the top of the file and handed it to him, “I would, it’s just that you know them a lot better than I do and it’d take me forever.”

“Yeah, sure, no problem.” He said as he stretched out his muscles and headed down the stairs, folder in hand.

Suddenly, the door to the Hub rolled open and a weary Jack stepped inside. Catching sight of him, the man who was not supposed to be there she ran over to him and hissed, “What the hell do you think you’re doing here?”

“I’m here to pick up some stuff I left behind last night. Got a problem with that?” Jack asked.

“Just go, go…” Gwen said, beginning to panic.

“See? Look? I’m going...” Jack’s irritated voice said as he slammed the door of his office shut and marched down the stairs.

“Gwen? Gwen?” Ianto’s voice called up from The Archives, “I think I’ve found it – I’m not sure, do you want to bring that file downstairs for me?”

“Ianto?” Jack turned round at the voice of his ex-lover. “Ianto!?” He shouted, racing towards The Archives.

Ianto stepped out to see a frenzied Jack running towards him and stood in silence, shell shocked, his hands going in front of his rather large pregnant belly, as if to protect it.

Jack stopped in front of Ianto, staring at his pregnant stomach.

“How?” He whispered. “Ianto? Talk to me? Tell me what happened? Ianto? It’s me Jack! I’m back…” He trailed off, frightened when Ianto didn’t move, but continued to stare at him calculatingly. He took a step forward to reach out to touch Ianto, to hold him, but Ianto jerked back before his hand could touch his skin.

“How fucking dare you?!” An enraged Ianto, all but screamed at Jack, “How dare you?! You’ve been gone for months Jack! Months! You left me without saying goodbye! If you just think you can just waltz back into MY life, kiss me on the cheek, screw me over your desk a few times and everything will be back to normal…” He paused, eerily paraphrasing Gwen’s earlier words and steadying himself on the wall, “Well you’re making a big mistake. I thought you loved me Jack! I really did! And for the first time in my life, I gave someone my heart completely. I fell in love with you and then you left me. Alone. While you were out there doing goodness knows what-”

“I was-” Jack tried to interrupt.

“I don’t care Jack!” Ianto interrupted him instead, “I don’t want to hear any of your pitiful excuses! I’m fed up! I’m so sorry Jack, that all I am to you is another notch on your bed post! I’m sorry that I wasn’t enough for you. I’m so fucking sorry!” He stalked past Jack, looking for the rest of the team, ready to throttle them.

“Ianto”, Jack whispered watching Ianto freeze, “I love you, you know” Jack said, repeating his first love declaration. Seeing Ianto’s back to him, he continued, braver, “And I always will and nothing, nothing you can do or say will make me stop loving you.”

Ianto, turned around slowly meeting Jack’s eyes, but nothing could have ever prepared Jack for the expression on Ianto’s face. A look of sheer terror;

“My waters have broken.” He said before his eyes rolled back and he collapsed on the floor.

“I’ve never getting pregnant again,” Ianto thought as he gradually woke up. For the second time in as many months he woke up, his head swimming, in the Autopsy Room.

“Ianto?” Owen said as he walked into the room, “You’re awake then. How’re you feeling?”

“Sore,” Ianto said, “What happened?”

“That’s your stitches” Owen explained. “Your waters broke and you passed out so while you were under I performed an emergency C-section.”

“And my baby?”

“He’s sleeping in that cot over there.” Owen said as he went to push it closer to Ianto’s bed.

“It’s a boy?” Ianto felt himself smile, truly smile, for the first time in months, “Can I see him?”

“Sure,” Owen scooped the baby out of the cot and lowered him into Ianto’s open arms.

“I’ll leave you two alone now.” Owen said as he put his papers down.

“Wait! Owen! Was h-Jack really here? Not a figment of my imagination…?”

“Look, Ianto, I’m not going to lie to you. He’s been back for two months now, he’s the one who found you collapsed on your bathroom floor… Gwen decided it would be better for you and the baby if you avoided situations like what happened this afternoon so she told Jack that you left, that Torchwood had made you stop working and didn’t let him come into work on Tuesdays or Thursdays.”

“I see,” Ianto said, unconsciously gripping his son tighter.

“So what are you going to call him?” Owen asked.

“I don’t know yet – I’ll probably give him a Welsh name or something…” Ianto trailed off, feeling sleepy.

“Let me take him for you.” Owen said taking the baby and placing him back in his cot. “You get some sleep.”

Sleep came in snatches for Ianto – he tried not move from the bed for the first couple of days and when he did it was extremely painful, so he avoided it as much as possible. He woke every few hours to hear his son crying with hunger so he’d just lift him out of his cot and feed him the bottle that Owen, generously kept refilling and before long, they both fell asleep again.

It was a moment like this when Jack walked in on the two fast asleep in Ianto’s bed. He shut the door behind him and sat next to the bed, staring at the two most people in his life, even though neither of them knew it.

“I really do love you, you know Ianto.” Jack said, sitting down and taking Ianto's free hand in his, “Before I met you, my life was like a moonless night. Very dark, but there were a couple of stars – points of light and reason… In all my years, I never truly lived. And then I met you and you shot across my sky like a meteor. Suddenly everything was on fire, I felt alive again for the first time in centuries; there was brilliancy, there was beauty, you made my life worth living. And when I left, when the meteor had fallen over the horizon, everything went black. Nothing had changed, but my eyes were blinded by the light. I couldn’t see the stars anymore. And there was no more reason for anything.” Jack finished as he felt a tear roll down his eye and he sniffed. “Damn hay fever” he muttered darkly.

Hearing, a chuckle rise from the bed he looked up, realising that Ianto had woken up at some point during his declaration of love and began to blush.

“Did you hear all of that?” Jack asked.

“Every word last word, from the beginning, I always told you your voice was obnoxiously loud.”

This time, Jack chuckled and he groaned as he stood up, “I’ll be off then…”

“Wait… Jack?”

He turned around at the sound of Ianto’s voice.

“Did you really mean all that?” Ianto asked.

“Of course I did, Ianto, you know I wouldn’t lie about something like that.”

“It’s just that –” he paused, struggling to find the right words, “That, it was my life over the last few months that you’ve just described.”

“Look, Ianto, I really am so sorry that I left you and it’ll never happen again. I swear – just give me one more chance. I would have come back as soon as possible if I knew what I was doing to you, I really would have, but if you don’t want me back, I can try and understand and I’ll try and live with it. But just don’t keep me out of our baby’s life.”

“Is that all you want Jack?” Ianto asked, “Just to be some absent father to our baby?”

“No, never, I just thought if you really didn’t want me back, ever, it’d be the least I could do…”

“Come here,” Ianto said beckoning Jack towards him, “I think” Ianto said, pulling Jack’s head very, very close to each other so that they were millimetres apart, “That you want me.”

“Ianto,” Jack murmured, “I do believe you are receiving mixed signals. Your ex-pregnant belly is way too big for its own good.”

“OI!” Ianto said as he pushed Jack away from him, “You just ruined the moment!”

“I’m sorry, but it was getting kind of cheesy…” Jack said looking sheepish.

“Shut up and just kiss me.” Ianto said.

“Your wish is my command.” Jack cheekily replied and complied only too happily.

“So what are we naming the baby?” Jack asked, holding his son for the first time.

“His name,” Ianto said, “Is Albert.”

“What?” Jack’s face, screwed up in horror, “You can’t name the poor kid that! He’ll get bullied at school! Hell, if I was at school, I would be one of the bullies.”

“You do realise it was a joke right?” Ianto asked. “His name is Dai Truman Harkness-Jones”

“That is a mouthful of a name, you know? The poor kid’s going to have to work doubly hard at his spelling.”

“Shut up you…” Ianto said, “Dai, means “Shine” in Welsh, something that I thought was appropriate for me. Just be pleased I got your father’s name in there.”

“… You did didn’t you?” Jack was shocked; impressed that Ianto had remembered something he had mentioned months ago and in passing. “I love you, you know?”

“And I love you too,” Ianto replied sincerely.
