A/N: I have had this story for Buffy the Vampire Slyer running through my head for many many years, and just like any other idea I set it aside. That was until recently after buying Seasons 1-7 of Buffy. It came back into my head and I just had to start writing it down, instead of keeping it to myself.

This story starts during Season 3 after 3:12 Helpless and a day or so before the start of episode 3:13 The Zeppo.

Title: A Bloodline to last Centuries

Rating: T could be come M

Summery: Buffy’s strength has returned to her since her unfortunate 18th birthday surprise, and all is well back in Sunnydale. Until, a group of very old vampires make an unscheduled and rather baffling stop into the quaint Californian town.

Prologue – Apocalypse Now?

--

The sun had set to the west like it did every evening, consequently indicating the time in which the night owls began to rise and the early birds began too seclude themselves into their homes for a quiet evening alone or with their family. Buffy Summers, one of those many owls walked along the quiet streets, her leather jacket buttoned one button too low for an easy grab of her wooden stake which rested snuggly inside her custom sown breast pocket.

Buffy quietly sighed to herself; tonight was going to be a very slow night. She could already tell and she hadn’t even reached the cemetery yet, secretly hoping Angel, her boyfriend or lover the title seemed to change often, was out for a stroll of sorts.

She reached the gates, her hopes had been granted. Angel stood quietly his left side leaning casually against a large garnet tombstone. “I was beginning to think you weren’t going to show tonight,” he ended his statement with simple grin. She smiled back at him. “Mom was giving me another talk on the whole needing a future thing. I think she is at the last stages of the overly protective motherly bonding obsession thing, after everything that happened, and nothing has jumped out at me…yet. Normally there are at least one or two vamps already running around before I even reach here.”

She sighed again. “It’s going to be a slow night.” Angel lifted himself from his current position, and began to walk over to her. “Maybe that’s a good thing.” The two began to walk the grassy paths between the graves. “You did just go through a whole lot… with loosing your powers and everything.” He rubbed her back softly trailing his hand down her arm, and taking her hand as they walked. “I really don’t think an Apocalypse is what you need right now Buffy.”

“I know. I mean I get what your saying, and trust me, I am very happy nothing crazy is going on right now, but I can’t shake this feeling.” Angel stopped still holding her hand looking contently into her eyes. “Kinda like they all know someone is coming or something very…very bad is about to happen, and here I am, the Slayer, out of the loop unable to know about what’s going to happen next.”

Angel smiled. He let go of her hand only to run his large hand along her leather clad arm and lightly grasping her shoulder, then running it up her neck to her cheek finally pulling her body towards him to give her a kiss.

Buffy’s hand moved to the back of his neck, letting it be pricked by his freshly cut hair. She pulled herself closer to him opening her mouth further allowing him to deepen this simple kiss, wanting and needing more of the passion they both shared.

Suddenly there was a hissing growl. It was coming from behind the two lovers. Buffy pulled apart from Angel a soft wet click came from their parting lips, and she turned around annoyed. “Seriously, can there not be one moment of piece where I can make out with my boyfriend in a cemetery!” She pulled the wooden stake from inlayed pocket of her jacket before punching the vampire square in the face. “Just one moment of piece,” Buffy kicked at the vampire as he lunged towards her again, “that’s all I ask.” She watched him fly into a near by tree. “This will only take a second honey, sorry.” She gave Angel a sympathetic grin, and he just stepped back to give her more room, a proud smile protruding across his face as he watched her stalk over towards the fallen vampire.

The vampire scrambled to his feet, he maneuvered himself into a battle stance before lunging towards Buffy once more swinging his fists every attempt being blocked with out any effort by the Slayer. He swung once more only to have blocked by her forearm, her free arm swung forward thrusting the wooden stake into his chest then through his heart. “She is coming, and there is nothing you can do to stop her. She will demolish anything that threatens what she holds close to her heart.” He vampire’s eyes bulged and he body burst into dust.

Buffy placed the stake back in her breast pocket. “She… Who is she? Why do they always say the important things two seconds before they burst into dust?” She turned back to Angel.

Angel just shrugged, “A compulsive need to confuse the last person we see, till it drives them insane?” He walked over to her taking her hand. “Research time?”

Buffy sighed, “Yeah, sadly I think it’s the best for us to do now. I want o know who this…‘she’ is.” Buffy laid her head against Angel’s side and the two began walking towards Sunnydale High.
