Blaine led the 3 to a forest camouflaged military bunker. Once inside, Jess and Leslie examined their surroundings. On the Left was a small room containing rifles, pistols, knives, and explosives. On their right was a clothing rack that held fatigues. At the back of the bunker was a refrigerator, stove, and microwave. They walked forward. Once they got past the room, there was a desk and 3 chairs to the left. They got the back of the bunker and the man opened a door. They stepped inside. He gave Megan the MP5 and walked in. The steel door slammed behind him, leaving the only light coming from a small overhead light. Blaine sat down behind a table facing Jess and Leslie.
“Which would you prefer to go first? You, or me,” asked Blaine.
“You.”
“Okay. You were wondering how I found out about terabithia.”
“A man called us a few months ago. He claimed to have knowledge of a small society associating with hostile forces. He said the society was called terabithia.”
“When we looked into this, we found scattered reports of small and violent creatures in these woods. They decided to send me to investigate. They sent Megan to assist me.”
“Now that I have answered your question, you will answer mine.”
“Ok,” said Jess.
“Have you seen anything strange with the terabithian’s lately?”
“We haven’t seen them at all,” replied Leslie.
“Have you found anything strange in the terabithia area?”
“Yes in fact. We found a small telegraph lying in a tree.”
“What did you do with it?”
“We left it there.”
“Hmm… Interesting. I’ll let you guys go now.”
Blaine tapped on the door and it swung open. He led Jess and Leslie out and closed the bunker door behind them. As the 2 walked away from the bunker they heard Blaine and Megan talking but couldn’t make out any of it.
School was slow for the next few days. Blaine and Megan always sat together and talked whenever there was a chance. They talked to Jess and Leslie and hung out with them more and more as they got to know each other more. One day, they didn’t show up. During recess however, Jess noticed 4 Blackhawk’s fly over and toward his house.
He looked at Leslie who had seen it to.
“I have a feeling things are about to get really bad,” Jess said.
As the bus went towards their house, A CH47 flew overhead and dropped down in the middle of the road by Jess and Leslie’s house. Everybody was staring as soldiers ran out and the helicopter took off.
Jess and Leslie got off and dropped their backpacks by the mailbox. A man with a M1014 shotgun walked over towards them.
“Jess and Leslie?” he asked
“Yeah?”
“Come with me,” the solider said and turned.
The 2 followed the soldier over to a large tent. Inside they saw battle plans, weapons, artillery maps, and computers. They also saw Blaine with 2 other people. Judging by their uniforms, one was a 4 star general and the other was a Lt.
“Sir,” the soldier said to Blaine,” Here are the 2 people you requested.”
“Thank you Cpl. Grawe. You’re dismissed.”
The soldier walked off as Blaine turned toward the 2 teens.
“Jess, Leslie. I’d like you to meet General Amos,” the general nodded,” and Captain King,” the man who they had mistaken for a Lt. looked up and nodded.
“Now, since you 2 are our main informants, we’ll need you to help us with battle pla-“ Blaine started to say as he was cut off by an explosion outside the tent.
Blaine grabbed his M4A1 SOPMOD off the table and ran outside.
“Get down! Get down!” he yelled as he ran down the road toward the forest with a group of other soldiers. The general threw Jess and Leslie 2 M9 Beretta pistols.
“ I hope you 2 know how to fire a gun because you’re screwed otherwise,” the general said to us as he ran off. “Now go follow Blaine!” He yelled as he dodged a mortar shell.
We ran off in the direction the Blaine and the soldiers had gone not knowing what we were getting into or if we were even going to get out.
