GSR drabble...post sabbatical

He wanted to just grab her in the hallway, and kiss her until they were both blue. She said she'd see him later, which was a good sign. He hoped that she wasn't mad with him for leaving, but he was slowly burning out. She knew he needed a break as much as he did, and was pretty sure she understood that he wasn't leaving her, but the job. Well, that wasn't completely true. He needed to think about everything, including his and Sara's relationship. Now, he knew exactly where he stood, and realized just how much he needed her. So, when he saw her in the hallway, he was mesmerized, even though she'd been at a landfill, he was still so overwhelmed to see her, that he had to let her know he was back. After their encounter, he retreated back into his office, almost willingly sorting paperwork. He could barely contain his excitement knowing he'd soon be alone with Sara, his Sara.

She was surprised to hear his voice. He had a few more days left before he was supposed to return, and yet, there he was, at the lab. She turned around to greet him with a smile. He slowly walked after her, and she started to back away for two reasons. Number one, she smelled like a trash can. Number two, he had that look in his eyes. It was the look of determination, and love. She knew that if she got too close to him, they wouldn't be able to contain themselves. She missed him, God did she miss him, but she'd just have to wait until later, when they were alone. He asked if he'd see her later, and she said, "Yeah, you will." She couldn't be mad at him. He looked so refreshed, the vacation did him good. She noticed that he'd been so entranced in the mini killer case, that he was slowly loosing himself, and needed some time off. She turned the corner and headed for the showers, thinking of all the scenarios possible for their alone time.

Shift seemed to last forever, but finally, it was time to leave. Grissom grabbed his things and hastily headed to the parking lot.

She noticed that the time was passing slower than normal. Eventually, it was time for her to leave, and she gathered her belongings and headed toward the only place she wanted to be.

He looked into his rearview mirror, and saw a very familiar SUV following him. He couldn't help but smile widely, as he drove into the garage.

She was right behind him as they parked the SUVs. She grabbed her things and reached the door just as he was unlocking it. He kindly stepped aside to let her go in first, and she smiled at him as she walked inside. She placed her kit on the entry table, and he set his atop hers. She took off her jacket, and when she started to hang it, Grissom kindly took it from her, and hung it up along with his. She could tell by the look in his eyes that he was contemplating his next action. She was really wondering what was going to happen, but luckily she didn't have to wonder long. Grissom, or outside of work, Gil gently but forcefully placed her against the wall adjoining the kitchen. She gasped at his action, and he just smiled largely. She was trying to predict his next move when he kissed her. The kiss was passionate, possessive, and needing at the same time. They pulled back once they both needed air. Gil raised his hand to gently cup her face.

"God I missed you Sara."

She raised her hand to gently caress his cheek. Before she had the time to say anything, he drew her into another mind blowing kiss. When they pulled apart this time, she made sure to get her word in.

"That's nice to come home to." She sent him a kind smile, but then went into what she knew he wanted to hear. "Gil..." she started. She could tell by his face that he was worried, but she had to tell him. "Sweetheart, I'm not upset with you." She could see relief flood his eyes but he let her finish. "You were burning out, and you needed a break, even if that meant being away from me. I'm not upset at all, but I'm so happy you're back, and next time, you're taking me with you."

She smiled, and he returned the gesture before adding," I wouldn't have it any other way." This time, Sara led him into a kiss. The kiss started as sweet and gentle, but soon molded into raw and passionate. Sara reached for Gil's shirt, but he stopped her. She gave him a sideways glance, and realized he wanted to say something. She stepped back to give him some room, because she saw he was having trouble finding his words.

"Sara, while I was away, I had some time to think about things." It was Sara's turn to get nervous, and he saw that and quickly gave her a reassuring smile. "Usually, I'd give you some dead poet's quote, and that has seemed enough for you, but I've never really voiced my opinion and feelings in a straight forward way. While I was gone, I came to realize that I was just avoiding the words because I felt you deserved so much more than words that are used every day. But, I also realized that it's not the words but the meaning behind them." At this point, Sara was smiling softly with teary eyes. Gil took this into account, and removed his hands from her face, to grab her hands, and continued.

"Sara, I want you to know, I don't think I've ever felt so alone before. These four weeks I was away were the loneliest I've ever experienced in all my life. It's kind of strange, I was been alone for over half my life, and never felt really alone, but then I find you, and can't stand four weeks on my own. Sara, that's what made me realize that I have it BAD, way worse than I realized. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me, and I don't know why it took me so long to realize that." He once again looked at Sara to see her reaction. A lone tear was making its way down her cheek, and she was still smiling sweetly with a strong look of love in her eyes. Gil wiped her tear away, and continued.

"Honey, I love you, so incredibly much. You're my everything and I promise that I'll never intentionally hurt you. I love you, and I am so happy that you've forgiven me for my stupid mistakes. I pledge to you that I'll try my hardest to make you happy, because you deserve it. You deserve so much more, but I'll give you all I can give. Sara, never ever doubt that. I love you sweetheart."

By this time, Sara's face was thoroughly wet with tears, and a 400 watt smile plastered on her face. She finally gathered the strength to speak through her tears, and asked, "All the way?" When he smiled and nodded she said, "Gil, I love you, too. You have no idea how much."

Both of them had an intense look of love in their eyes as they slowly came closer. Sara was still smiling hugely, until Gil, suddenly but gently pushed her against the wall once again, and claimed her mouth. After the shock subsided, she returned the powerful kiss, until once again they were out of breath. Sara got out the first word this time.

"God I missed that."

Gil smiled back, and once again kissed her. Soon enough, Gil was kissing Sara's neck, nibbling on her ear, and showering her with more sweet kisses. She, in return, wrapped her arms around his neck and gave him what he gave her, many sweet kisses. Things soon went from sweet, sensitive, and loving, to savage, raw, and passionate. Gil swiftly placed his one arm behind Sara's knee, and hoisted her up into his arms. She giggled loudly as he carried her into their room.

When somebody loves you,

It's no good unless he loves you

All the way.

Happy to be near you,

When you need someone to cheer you

All the way

Taller than the tallest tree is

That's how its gotta feel

Deeper than the deep blue sea is

That's how deep it goes, if it's real

When somebody needs you

It's no good unless she needs you

All the way

Through the good or lean years

And for all those in between years

Come what may

Who knows where the road may lead us

Only a fool would say

So if you let me love you, it's for sure I'm gonna love you

All the way

All the way

All the way

They were snuggled into their favorite position. Gil was lying on his back, with Sara cuddling into him. Her head was rested in between Gil's chest and upper arm. Her arms were wrapped around him with her legs entangled with his. Gil's arms were wrapped around Sara, one on her lower back and one on her hip. Sara awoke around noon (remember night shift) to the sound of a relaxed heartbeat and steady breathing. By these clues, she assumed him to be still asleep, but when she looked up, a set of crystal blue eyes and a large, sweet, and all too familiar smile greeted her. She smiled her 400 watt smile up at him, and situated herself against him so she was still looking up at him, and her head was lying on his chest.

"Morning beautiful." She smiled at this, and gently leaned up to kiss him good morning.

"I thought you were asleep."

"Nah, I was too busy watching you do that." She smiled again at his words.

"So, you were watching me sleep?"

"Yup, something strange about that?"

"Normally if I found out someone was watching me sleep, I'd accuse them of stalking me, and file a restraining order, but, since it's you, I think I'll let it slide." This time it was his turn to smile largely.

"I'm glad." After this last comment, she smiled, but that was soon followed by a yawn.

"Tired, love?"

"Actually that's the best night of sleep I've had in a month. I guess I just need to wake up." She sat up in bed and turned around to look at him.

"Care to join me?"

"Where exactly are we going?"

"Why to shower of course." She got up and made her way to the bathroom. She got as far as almost shutting the door before asking him another question.

"Well, are you coming?" All he could do was nod as he silently got up and walked to her, never losing eye contact. When he stepped into the bathroom, he felt a pair of arms imprison him from behind. He turned around so he could hold her while being face to face. He kissed her gently, and when he pulled away, she said something that made him smile as big as he's ever smiled before.

"At last my love has come along."

And with that, he gently guided her into the shower while kissing her all the way.

At last, my love has come along

My lonely days are over

And life is like a song

Oh, yeah, at last

The skies above are blue

My heart was wrapped up in clovers

The night I looked at you

I found a dream that I could speak to

A dream that I can call my own

I found a thrill to rest my cheek to

A thrill that I have never known

Oh, yeah when you smile, you smile

Oh, and then the spell was cast

And here we are in heaven

For you are mine

At last
