Ash and co. were about to leave Dreek Town. It was early morning and the sun was shining brightly.

“Well, thank you.” Ash said to Lara.

“Perhaps you aren’t bringers of bad luck.” Lara replied.

“And we’re off!” Sheridan said.

“Perhaps we’ll meet again.” Miranda said. “In another life, where the world is better. Where we can live in peace and find a true home. Some day, there will be that happiness. A true happiness. Until then, we will be uniting in surroundings that withhold sorrow and regret.”

“…Yeah. We TOTALLY look forward to it.” Ruby replied sarcastically.

“Ash!” Ameilia said. “Next time we meet, we’re gonna battle!”

“Huh?” Ash replied.

“After watching you battle there, I really wanna challenge you my self! We’re after the same thing, let’s be rivals!” She said enthusiastically.

“Yeah! Sounds awesome! Hear that Pikachu, I have a Makoto Region rival!” Ash joined the enthusiastic mood. Pikachu squeaked happily.

“Well I’m gonna get my second badge today, so I guess I’ll see you up in Windred Mountain next. Look forward to it, cutie! I ain’t gonna go easy on you!” She winked and waved them off before running into the Pokemon Center to prepare her Pokemon.

“Let’s go, guys!” Ash turned to his friends. They started walking back into the wilderness. Lara and Miranda stood watching them leave.

-Theme Plays-

“Several hours after leaving Dreek Town, Ash, Gary, Ruby and Sheridan are making their way up to Windred Mountain, where Ash’s third gym battle lies and a contest arena also. They’ve just past through Manor City and are climbing the steep hill to the top of the mountain, what surprises lie ahead? We’ll soon find out.” The narrator started off.

“So, tell me about these Makoto Pokemon.” Ash said out of the blue.

“Makoto Region Pokemon…well…a long time ago they were everywhere just like in any other region. But after Team Metsubou came in, they stole most of them and turned them into Shadow Pokemon. That’s why they are so rare to find in the wild…” Sheridan said.

“So…we could run into one?” Gary asked.

“I guess so…” Ruby said. “Most Metsubou members will have at least one. And gym leaders sometimes have them too, like Lara. Otherwise, they’re in the wild.”

“Awesome! I wanna catch ‘em!” Ash said excitedly, running forward.

“Slow down…this hill is steep.” Gary said.

“Don’t worry, we’ll be at the top before we can even get tired!” Ash said, grinning.

Later in the day…

The four kids were looking awfully worn out and were barely pulling themselves up the steep hill. And for once, Ash wasn’t in front.

“I’m…too…tired…” He whined in between each step.

“We…have…to…get…up…to the top…” Gary said in the same fashion.

“Just…keep…on…moving!” Sheridan said cheerfully but weakly.

“But…what…where is the top?” Ruby asked, seeing nothing but woods. Everyone stopped. The top of the mountain was totally covered by the surrounding forest. There was no way of telling what way to go.

“Just great…we really need a navigator or something…” Gary said.

“Do they sell them anywhere?” Ash asked.

“I have a navigator.” Ruby said, pointing to a little phone in her hand.

“Oh, that’s cool!” Sheridan said enthusiastically.

“A Pokegear cell phone? Where’d you get that?” Gary asked.

“Why do you get a cell phone? Why didn’t I get one?!” Ash asked, annoyed. Ruby pushed a button on it and it started playing music.

“Because, because, because. I’m awesome like that. Because, because, because, you don’t deserve it, Ash.” She sung to the tune, shaking the phone to the beat. Ash got mad and tried to snatch it off her.

“So we can just use the mapping tool to find out where we are!” Gary said happily.

“Ruby shouldn’t be the one in change of navigating! She’ll get us lost! On purpose!” Ash snapped.

“And if you had it you’d get us lost by accident which is worse.” Ruby replied. Ash gritted his teeth angrily.

“Guys c’mon, just calm down and listen to the peaceful sounds of the forest.” Sheridan said, closing her eyes. The others copied her. A huge high-pitched scream suddenly came through the whole forest. The group freaked at the sound and covered their ears.

“That’s…not peaceful…” Ruby said.

“Who could scream so loud?” Ash whined.

“Whismur! Wait!” Someone called out. Ash and co. turned to see a little Whismur jump out of a bush nearby. It ran frantically and hid behind Ash’s leg.

“A whismur?” Gary asked. Someone came past the bushes and sighed.

“Whismur, I didn’t mean it.” The boy said.

“What’s going on?” Ash asked.

“I’m sorry, my whismur is just really sensitive…” He explained, picking it up. “I tell it off once and it runs away.” He sweat dropped.

“Wow, what a crybaby.” Ruby said. Whismur cried even louder.

“Shut it, Ruby!” Ash told her off.

“So who are you?” Sheridan asked.

“Oh, right. My name’s Zach. I’m a traveling musician.” Zach said, still trying to calm Whismur down.

“A musician?” Ash said. “That must be awesome!!”

“Well, it could be…” Zach sighed. “But my Whismur is meant to be my partner…and we’re having some problems…”

“Problems?” Ash asked.

“That sounds awful.” Sheridan said worriedly.

“You haven’t even heard the problem.” Ruby told her.

“Sorry, I haven’t asked your names.” Zach laughed.

“I’m Ash Ketchum, from Pallet Town.” Ash said.

“My name’s Sheridan.” Sheridan smiled.

“I’m Ruby.” Ruby nodded.

“And I’m Gary, nice to meet you.” Gary finished the introductions.

“Yeah. So, lemme explain…” Zach said. A moment later they were all sitting down and talking.

“You see, I play the music…” Zach said, holding up a small guitar type thing. “And Whismur sings along.”

“Mur…” Whismur whined.

“What could go wrong with that?” Ash asked.

“Well…” Zach whispered. “Whismur can’t really sing…”

“Oh…” The rest said, sounding disappointed. Though Ruby laughed to herself.

“Whismur!” Whismur said, jumping up to the group. “Mur! Whis!”

“What is it?” Zach asked. Whismur shook its hands determinedly. “You want to try again?”

Whismur nodded.

“Well…I guess I’ll show you the problem now.” Zach told Ash and friends, picking up the guitar and playing it.

“Whis whis whismuuur…” Whismur sung along, nicely. Everyone watched silently as it sung.

“Seems fine to me…” Ash murmured.

“Whis…whis…MUUUR!” Whismur started screaming. It was the same high-pitched scream from before. Ash and the others fell back at the impact of the huge sound.

“Maaake it stoooop!” Ruby cried though the screaming.

“MUUURrrrrr…” Whismur stopped. It glanced to everyone, who were wiped out on the ground. It looked back to Zach, who had earplugs in and was looking confused. Whismur got teary and started sniffing.

“Whismur, it’s ok! Don’t cry!” Zach pleaded. Whismur shook it’s head and started crying loudly. It was almost as loud as the screaming.

Meanwhile Team Rocket was walking through the same forest.

“Well this is unusually peaceful.” James stated at the quiet environment.

“It’s perfect!!” Jessie shrieked randomly.

“For…what?” Meowth asked.

“What do you mean what? Our Makoto base!” Jessie said enthusiastically. The other two looked shocked.

“You’re right! We should set up a base right here!” Meowth said.

“I think even the boss would visit a place like this!” James said excitedly. The three imagined a big fancy base. The boss was inside having lunch with the three. He looked very pleased. Then he spoke with his Meowth-voice.

“This base is so impressive I’m going to give Team Rocket my headquarters and live here myself!” He said, then taking another sip of his coffee in a diamond-studded cup. Out of the dream, Team Rocket cheered.

“YES! OUR BEST IDEA YET!!” They threw their arms in the air.

“C’mon, Whismur, why do you keep screaming at the end?” Zach asked. Whismur just sobbed.

“Maybe it just can’t hit the note.” Ash said.

“Pikapi!” Pikachu jumped down to Whismur, who looked back to it.

“Mur…?” It asked.

“Pika! Pikachu pika! Pika pi! Pikachu!” Pikachu said.

“Whis…whismur…” Whismur replied.

“Pika!” Pikachu turn back to Ash. “Chu!”

“What’s it saying?” He asked Pikachu.

“Pika pi.” Pikachu pointed to its own neck. “Chu.”

“Whismur’s…neck?” Ash asked.

“Pikapika!” Pikachu shook its head, opened its mouth and pointed down its throat.

“Oh, throat?” Ash asked. Pikachu nodded.

“Whismur…has a sore throat!” Ash exclaimed. Pikachu nodded again.

“Aw, poor Whismur.” Sheridan said.

“So that’s what’s wrong…why didn’t you tell me? You can’t sing with a sore throat.” Zach said to Whismur.

“Mur!” Whismur whined.

“But there isn’t any Pokemon Centers around here, what are you gonna do?” Gary asked.

“Oh, really?” Zach asked, looking a bit shocked. “I have no clue…”

“Aren’t there like…berries and stuff that fix that?” Ruby asked.

“Hey yeah! You’re right!” Zach said, looking happier. “We just have to find the right berry, Whismur, and you’ll be fine!”

“Mur!” Whismur looked a bit brighter.

“Wow Ruby, you actually helped with something.” Ash said, watching Whismur. Ruby frowned and held her phone right up to his ear and turned on a song full volume.

“Aaagh!” Ash shrieked at the sound blast, falling back.

Later…

“My ear is still ringing…” Ash muttered angrily. They were all walking around, looking for berries.

“You’ll be right.” Ruby said, patting his head hard. He shooed her hand away and continued to be annoyed, arms folded tightly.

“You’re really grumpy for a kid.” Ruby stated. Ash spun around to her to retaliate, and the sound of chanting came around.

“What…is that?” Zach asked. The chanting got louder and louder until Team Rocket came right by them, marching past with a huge log over their shoulders.

“Step and step and step and step!” They chanted, before coming to a hault just behind Ash and co.

“The twerps!!” They shouted, dropping the log on Meowth.

“Ow!” It yapped.

“What are you doing Team Rocket?” Ash asked aggressively.

“Who are…?” Zach asked.

“You don’t know us? Well prepare for trouble.” Jessie said.

“We’ll introduce ourselves and make it double.” James added.

“To protect—“

“Yeah, yeah!” Ash cut them off and turned to Zach. “They’re Team Rocket, they’re crooks!”

“How dare you say that?” Jessie asked angrily.

“I have a reputation to keep you know!” James added angrily.

“Besides, we’re not here for your stupid yellow rat for once!” Meowth said.

“Then…what are you doing?” Ash asked.

“That’s none of your business!” James said, and then Team Rocket started their posing again.

“Jessie!”

“James!”

“Team Rocket blast off at the speed of light!”

“Surrender now or prepare to fight!”
”Meowth that’s right!”

“Mime mime!”

Team Rocket paused and saw that the twerps had disappeared.

“Where’d they go?!” They yelled.

“Ahwell. Who cares about some stupid twerps? Let’s get to making our super-base.” Meowth said.

“Yeah!” Jessie and James replied, picking up the log and chanting again.

“So, any ideas where the berries are?” Ash asked.

“I heard that Sitrus berries are in some of trees on this mountain.” Gary said. “Higher up though.”

“That should do it, Whismur.” Zach said. The group continued running up the rocky descent.

Some time later, they had made it to higher ground.

“Wow! We’re near the top!” Ash exclaimed happily, seeing the top of the mountain.

“The berries should be around here…” Gary stated.

“Look!” Sheridan pointed up to something in a nearby tree. Up in it was a big yellow berry.

“Finally! A Sitrus berry!” Ash said. “Go get it, Pikachu!”

Pikachu jumped onto the tree and climbed up to the branch. Grabbing the berry, it pulled it out of place and jumped back down.

“Thank you so much!” Zach said, taking it off Pikachu. “Whismur, eat this.”

Whismur then took the berry and had a bite of it. Everyone watched it.

Nearing the end of the day…

“Jessie, it seems we’re done…” James said.

“We finally finished it…” Jessie added.

“Our Makoto Base!” Meowth exclaimed. All three were staring up at something.

“…And it’s awful!!” They cried at once. Their base was nothing but a cabin that looked like a badly made tree house.

“I thought you said you knew how to build!” Jessie screamed at James.

“I do! You two just ruined it by getting involved!” James replied angrily.

“I didn’t ruin anything!!” Meowth yapped. All three then got into a little brawl on the floor. They fell back into the cabin and it totally collapsed into a pile of scrappy bark. The three watched it sadly.

“I think we’ve learnt something today…” James said.

“Yes, we don’t need to build things! Catching Pikachu is what we’re good at!” Jessie exclaimed.

“Yeah! Let’s go find that yellow pest!” Meowth joined in.

“How is your throat feeling Whismur?” Sheridan asked.

“Whis!” Whismur smiled and nodded.

“I think it’s feeling better!” Ash said happily.

“That’s great, now we can go on with our music, Whismur!” Zach said. Whismur jumped out of his arms and danced around on the ground.

“What’s it doing?” Ruby asked.

“Do you think it wants to try singing again?” Ash asked.

“Is that what you want, Whismur?” Zach asked. Whismur nodded.

“Ok!” Zach got out his guitar again. Whismur sung like before. Everyone nervously waited for the end. Right before the last note, a huge red hand suddenly grabbed Whismur.

“Whismur!” Zach shouted, as it was pulled into the sky.

“Pika!” Pikachu shouted, also being captured.

“No! Pikachu!” Ash shouted as well. Team Rocket’s balloon then came out of the bushes and lifted up high into the sky. The three laughed.
”Team Rocket!” Ash said angrily. “So you were after Pikachu!”

“Sudden change of plans, twerp.” James replied.

“Now watch us take these two little fur balls and get our rewards!” Jessie squealed.

“Give my Whismur back!” Zach yelled.

“Cherubi! Use Bullet Seed!” Sheridan called out Cherubi. The little Pokemon jumped around and shot out a bunch of yellow blasts at the balloon.

“Bullet Seed, 12 o’ Clock!” Jessie cried.

“Never fear!” James said, pressing a button that moved Pikachu and Whismur in front of the balloon.

“Pika!!” Pikachu screamed, getting hit with Bullet Seed.

“Mur!!” Whismur shrieked as well.

“That’s just cruel!” Ash said angrily.

“What can we do?” Sheridan asked. “If we attack it, Pikachu and Whismur will get hurt…”

“Later, twerps!” Team Rocket flew away.

“We have to follow them up!” Ash said. Everyone nodded and ran after it.

“We’re gonna win! We’re gonna win!” We’re gonna win!” Team Rocket sung.

“Pikachu…” Pikachu whined. It looked down to see Ash and the other running after the balloon.

“Pika!” It squeaked happily.

“Don’t worry Pikachu! We’ll get you back!” Ash called out.

“Those twerps just won’t give up!” Jessie snapped.

“Then let’s stop them ourselves!” James said, throwing a pokeball into the air. Out came Carnivine, who clamped onto James’ head.

“Aaaaagh!” He screamed.

“Ugh…go, Seviper!” Jessie said, sending Seviper out. “Use haze!”

Seviper then covered the entire ground in smoke.

“Where do we go?” Gary asked.

“I can’t see!” Ash said anxiously.

“Wait, I know!” Zach said. “Whismur, start singing!”

Hearing its trainer’s voice, Whismur started to sing. Through the smoke you could hear where they were going.

“That way!” Zach said, running. Everyone followed.

“Whis…whis…mur…” Whismur kept singing.

“What a lovely voice!” Jessie squeaked. “Maybe we should keep that Pokemon!”

“There you are!” Ash said, as everyone came out of the smoke.

“How did they get through?!” James shrieked.

“Whismur, Sing attack!” Zach said. Whismur sung at Team Rocket and they got drowsy.

“No…time…for…a nap…” They mumbled, falling asleep in the carriage. James fell onto the button and pressed it. Pikachu and Whismur we’re freed from the hands and fell onto the ground.

“You ok, Pikachu?” Ash asked, picking it up. It nodded with a smile.

“Awesome job, Whismur!” Zach said. Whismur danced around happily.

“Time to give ‘em what they deserve, Pikachu use Thunderbolt!” Ash threw Pikachu into the air.

“And you use Screech!” Zach told Whismur. The two attack blasted the balloon high into the sky. Team Rocket was still sleeping through the whole ordeal. They disappeared into the sky.

“Pika!” Pikachu stopped zapping and ran to Ash.

“Yeah! Nice work!” Ash smiled at it.

“Whismur, you can stop now.” Zach told Whismur, who was still using screech. It turned around cluelessly and blasted everyone with it.

“Agh!” Zach covered his ears. The attack then stopped. “…Guess it’s lucky I have ear plugs in.”

Whismur jumped into his arms and squeaked.

“Lucky…for you…” Ash moaned. Zach turned to see everyone lying wiped out on the ground again.

“Mur…” Whismur sweat dropped.

Later…

“Would you look at that, Windred Town is just there!” Ash pointed to the surface of the mountain, just a small walk away.

“We made it to the top without even knowing!” Sheridan said happily.

“Well, I’m going back down. Me and Whismur have to practice some more.” Zach said. “Thanks for everything! We wouldn’t of fixed this if you guys didn’t show up.”

“No problem, glad to help.” Gary nodded.

“So can we hear the song before we go? Please?” Sheridan asked.
”Oh, sure!” Zach laughed. Then the music started and Whismur sung once again, getting everything right finally.

“A long day of berry searching and Team Rocket chasing leaves our heroes already at the Peak of Windred Mountain. Following a soothing song, Ash and friends will make their way into town, where a contest, and the 3rd Makoto badge lies. Stay tuned!” The narrator finished.
