The trolls stood in New York in utter surprise. They had known all along of how the dog prince had escaped to here, and now was their chance to avenge their father. They would find the dog prince, and beat the Queen. Oh how simple it would be!
“Where would he be?” Blabberwort asked suddenly. Her brothers turned suddenly.
“I thought you knew!” Bluebell cried to Burly. Before along, a full fledged argument had started.
“Stop it!” Blabberwort cried. “This is useless! We must find him! Where would he be, he’s a dog!” Little did she know just how many dogs there were in Manhatten.
The huntsman stared angrily at the tracks.
They’ve been here. They’re in Kissingtown, I can feel it. I need the girl. She was close-so close-but he couldn’t tell where. The wolf is there too! Quickly he began following the tracks.
Virginia stared at her surroundings. I’ve been in worse. The motel was a cheap one, smelling damp and moldy. Just how they had acquired the money she wasn’t sure. But she trusted her father to deal with that.
The trip had been all right so far. But guilt ate her stomach every moment. It’s not just for prince, is it? She felt a chill run down her spine as she thought of Wolf. He was my friend, my first real friend in years; I should have been able to help him. She shrugged the thought off. No point in living in the past, that’s never gotten me anywhere. This is about Prince. Get over yourself, Virginia. You knew him for less than a week. But her heart betrayed her. He loved you though. After just a week: you know he did. So what if you never loved him back? He TRUSTED you. How long has it been since someone has done that? A long time. Regret flowed through her blood. And you let him down! He died because you were too slow! And now that entire town, that idiotic grandfather, those lying peeps… I wonder if they realize the wrong they’ve done. Virginia realized Prince was staring at her in awe. Only then did she realize how ridiculous she must have looked, arguing with herself.
“Do you remember Wolf?” She asked Prince. He looked at her intently for a moment before he barked once. Yes. “You really hated him.” She mused with a smile. The memories of her last trip were-mostly-pleasant when she thought of it in that light. “It’s not what you think, you know. I didn’t love him at all. I don’t think I ever would have. But he died at my hands, didn’t he? Don’t answer that. It’s just so strange, someone’s there one moment, the next they’re gone…” Her words trailed off. How much of that complimentary wine did I have? I’m going insane.
